Having owned my '05 since Dec. of '04 I guess I'm ready for a new WOW factor. As much as I like the car/style, etc. it is getting a bit dated and when I go to the local Cars & Coffee the 'Vette is starting to look a bit pedestrian. I've washed/waxed/detailed mine enough to know every square inch of it and am anxious to start down another path. Updating to a '10-'11 model doesn't do it for me-I need something really different again. I've owned an '84, '97, and the '05 as first year cars and plan to do the same with the next generation. I believe there are a lot of C6 owners, especially those with '05-'07's, who usually trade up by now and are playing the waiting game as I am. I totally understand and can appreciate the situation GM finds itself in, but for me I need something new.

I think that we on this forum (some of whom own multiple C6s) may be so used to looking at and talking about C6s on this forum and others, that we have become somewhat numb and bored with them. I also think there are a lot of folks who buy new cars very often and want a vastly different Corvette to show off to their friends.

I also think of all the folks who've owned one Corvette for many years and just love it for what it is. I'm pretty sure I will be one of them in the years to come!

I couldn't agree more. The C6 is one of, if not THE sexiest corvettes EVER made.
Every time I see one, no matter what the color or package, I can't stop staring at it until it's out of sight. Every angle, every level of the C6 is just down right SEXY!
I feel very privileged to own one.

Don't know either about the WOW factor being gone. I can't drive my car without a thumbs up, or someone striking up a conversation when I am stopped.... I too, still look back at mine when I walk away from it.
Yes it is about time for a C7, but I think the WOW is still there for me.

I believe GM really needs to get cranking and get the C7 into production before C6 sales slide completely off the map. The electronics are in dire need of updating with blue tooth, perfect ipod interface, etc. I recently installed a new in dash top of line Kenwood in my F150 and realized how dated my vette's electronic package is now.

This is NOT a BASH the C6 thread and shouldn't be taken as such. Simply saying that GM has played out the C6 design and urgently needs to get the C7 or a very very updated C6 in production. I'm not talking about the cosmetic changes GM did on 08's+ either. Yea yea they tossed in the LS3 and steering.. etc but there was no real WOW factor.

OK they've added the GS but sales are still very weak and will remain so imo. There NEEDS to be a GREAT reason for current owners to get drilled and upgrade their cars if GM wants to sell more vettes.

GM desperately needs a new and updated platform if they want to keep the Corvette a true American Icon....

What say you???
I can't even imagine how GM could/will improve on the exterior look of a wide body C6.Other than the performance bump of the Z,the wide body stance is what got me out of my C6 Coupe which had begun to look mundane to me after a year and a half. I feel the interior refinements are what is going to sell the C7. The C7 will have to be a vast improvement in the" looks department" to pry me out of my ZO6.

I don't know....I still get a little wow factor out of my antiquated 2005 C6. You say "...there are so many updated high performance choices available". What choices are there that are truly comparable to the Corvette in class, design, performance and price range? I can't think of any maybe until the 2012 Viper hits the streets and that's a bit of a stretch with respect to comparable price.

I can't argue the C7 will be welcome provided it possesses the attributes I want in a Corvette. To rush a model into production just for the sake of change is a mistake. We all see things differently. Trying to design an improved American icon that will appeal to the majority of Corvette buyers is a balancing act to say the least. There has to be somewhat more emphasis on evolutionary rather than revolutionary. Frankly, with the state of the economy and the US auto industry in particular we should be thankful there's a new Corvette in the pipeline at all. Time is of the essence but most importantly the C7 has to be a winner...in design, performance and amenities.

While we wait for the C7 GM/Corvette has demonstrated many positive changes IMO. The ZR1, the Grand Sport, the Carbon Edition and even the Z06X concept track car are a far cry from the usually totally lame Corvette "special" editions. Maybe Corvette is finally seeing the light. I worry about the detrimental effect onerous government regulation will have on future models but I'll reserve judgment until I see what the C7 actually is. If the C7 has the same wow factor as the C6 had for me I think we'll be OK.

Yes it's getting about time for a new design but I was just at a auto show and my SUV's newer model looks same as my three year old one - which is also the same as the previous 3-4 years. Remember that this design is only 6 yrs. old - the C-4 ran 12 yrs. and that was when GM had money to throw into design.
I agree and think all high priced cars have dropped in sales with people are not putting down the money for them. Thats why Mustangs and Camaros are doing relatively well. However everytime I push the start button on my Z06 and hear that LS7 roar to life I don't even think about a C7.

You nailed it right here. Forum members may think the car is getting a little long in the tooth and so may some of the mags, but most people don't. I get compliments on the Z06 almost every time I drive it. I still look at any C6 I see and think that is one great looking car and so do many many others out there because they are still being sold. The design team have their hands full IMO in trying to top the design of the C6, we will see if they were successful or not in the very near future.

Everyone has their own opinion I know, but my definition of WOW factor is not updated or up to date electronics. I don't own an IPOD and don't want one. I just want nice creature comforts. My WOW factor is more of fit and finish. I don't need NAV to drive in my hometown, nor do I need to have electronic everything. I bought my 05 for looks and the "go" factor. This is my 8th Corvette and the best one yet. But on the other hand, I too am ready for a "new" look.

No matter what happens in the future, the C6 will go down as one of the best overall generations ever built with more models, options, horsepower, and performance than any other before it...bar none. Truly an American classic!!

OK, going beyond that, granted there are tens of thousands of potential C7 owners who either have a Corvette now, or had one before. Got it.

But while the techno and other stuff that needs correcting is necessary, I look at the exterior of the C6 and do compare it to the "other cars," everything from the best and highest priced, to the least and lowest priced. Many have come a long, long way incl. "our" own Cadillacs, and even the Kias and Hyundais. But the point is, sitting a Corvette next to any one of those, design-wise, it looks like THEY got better, but the Corvette C6 is NOT old looking.

Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm looking thru some kind of rose colored (tinted orange) glasses. Maybe significant improvements in tech and engineering and interior can be done without changing everything else on the inside and outside. I don't know. But I don't get the feeling, just me again, that the whole car is ready for the pile of yesteryear vehicles.
The vehicles that you mentioned needed to get better/look better, to get a second look. The Porsche,Lambos Corvettes go on visual recognition and do not change much year to year or sometimes in a decade. A standard C6 Vert or any wide body will have "WOW" 20 years from now

No Corvette in my future will ever top the "WOW" factor of this one, my first.

If an OEM Radio unit is an issue than just spend the money to upgrade it. There are many high end units available.

When I go on a canyon run or just cruise the streets of Los Angeles or the beach! There is definitely WOW factor everytime I take the Vette for a ride.

I have friends who own lambos, porsche and ferrari who have spent hundreds of thousands to get that WOW factor, no to mention nearly four times the normal cost of maintenance. The performance, handling, looks, and overall package on a C6 is right on the money for the price, JMO

I get all the WOW I want with my vette.

I was driving mine down the Las Vegas strip last night where there are literally thousands of people walking up and down the sidewalks. Sitting at red lights I saw at least 3 people point and I read they're lips saying "Wow, look at that." There's proof there is still a wow factor going on.

But I will say, I love all of my vette, especially the exterior. Everyone still looks around and points when they hear and see it coming. The one exterior feature that another vette owner (C4 ha) once told me he didn't like, that I happen to like more than any, is the rear. But getting more to the OP's point, I'd like to see newer, overall technology in the C7 to keep it on the worldwide fast track. And with that, some tweaking and enhancing of the exterior, as well.
Exterior wise, the C6 is a stunningly good looking car and like others have noted, I still look back walking away and walking toward it at the end of a long work day still gives me chills now and then. As for the interior, I love the layout of the interior, wish for a little nicer interior as far as materials, but overall, I like it.

It is amazing that after 7 model years, if you buy a 2011 C6, you're gettting the exact same radio and NAV as a 2005 C6. 7 years in the electronics industry is an eternity!!!

I buy a new car every 4 years, whether I need one or not, I just like new cars. My 07 is 4 years old now, and I really want to buy another C6, even found 1 near me with everything I would want, but its really hard to justify spending that kind of money to basically buy the same exact car I already have.

I agree. I don't know what it is but I get ton's more looks and comments when I'm driving our 05 Vette than I do when I'm driving our 09 MB SL550. People notice the Vette a lot more. Nobody cares that the MB is almost new or is worth 4x more than the vette. Maybe its the color? I don't know but there is just something about the Corvette that does have the WOW Factor. Doesn't matter the year. I saw a early 90's ZR1 a few months ago and you wouldve thought it was a brand new Ferrari. There is ALWAYS a WOW factor with a Corvette.

Wow factor has nothing to do with it. People don't have any money. Many don't have a job. That's why Corvette is not selling. It will be many years before it turns around to anything near what it was. So it's possible there may not even be a C8.

The wealth is being redistributed my friends and the folks it's being redistributed to don't buy Corvettes. I hate to be a prophet of doom but when I look at the numbers it's the only conclusion I can come to. Too many have lost jobs and new ones are not being created. There are those in govn't that want to tax us at 75% and up. That doesn't leave money to buy toys.

I still get just as many looks and nice comments from people as ever, so no diminution of the WOW factor here....especially when the weather warms up and the top goes down.

My 06 vert still made me smile after 5 years. I think the C6 is indeed timeless. My ZR1 will arrive in the next 2 weeks. I'm thinking it will make me grin from ear to ear. Lets hope
