Damn, it's not about you being 26 or having a corvette. I know the area well and you were driving too fast. The reason you weren't arrested is that speeding, alone, in Texas is not an arrestable offense. That being said, if the officer felt like you needed to go to jail for speeding and other violations your butt would be sitting in Lew Sterett (Dallas County Jail) and I can assure you it is not a place you want to be.

Hell even 75 in a straigh shot to collin.

Typical b.s., "the officer was not being honest". What a bunch of c$#p. Like someone else already said, put your big boy pants on and take responsibility for YOUR actions. We know its not your fault, blame your problems on someone else! Get a life!

Texas officers can arrest you for any reason. i have had friend go to jail over no turn signal and another for a broken tail light.

Hard head what did I say? Maybe if I said it slower. Speeding, alone, in Texas is NOT an arrestable offense...

There is a simple solution for you. Don't speed and if you do, don't do it in Dallas or if you want a really good time and a really close encounter with Elrod in a 5x9 room for two, just give me a heads up that you are coming. I'll meet you at the city limits.

You like paying large sums of money to insurance companies?
Let me guess, you love paying taxes too.

I'm sure your squeeky clean and never did anything wrong, but if you did you would raise your hand and say I'm guilty here's my fine. Yeah right.

Just for the record, I don't agree with everything the OP said either. Is he whinning, yes, but that doesn't mean he should just pay the fine. The speed limits in many states are posted way too low anyway. I was on a 4 lane highway yesterday with a posted speed of 55.

Nobody likes getting caught at stuff. I hate taxes. But I don't cheat. I do lots of crazy ****. When I'm wrong I don't try and play games. That's all.

Now you throw out a bunch of roads that don't matter?

35E around the area you mentioned before is not exactly straight. However straight does not have anything to do with it. That area is dense traffic and 90+ MPH exposed other drivers to danger.

Finally, you got CAUGHT. Handle the ticket how you see fit, but calling the LEO a liar is needless. Man up.

Where do I sign up to try to evade a mini van at 90?

I'm driving the NJ Turnpike when my adult son says "Dad, you're doing 90." I look up ahead and see a line of cars in front of me maybe 10-15 cars. They're all doing 90! Including a mini van and a Corolla. WTF? The driving lane is doing in excess of 70 and about 5 miles down the road some poor shmuck gets pulled over. I have no idea why. Kinda reminded me of that Nat. Geo. show where the wildebeasts are crossing the croc infested river. Most of the critters get through but not all. I have to say 90 just didn't seem that fast and we were all 15 to 20 feet apart. I have to believe this happens all the time.

Hope this helps with your pacing question. Depending on traffic or type of roadway pacing can be done from the blind spot, hiding behind other vehicles or odometer. The odometer method is done by first staying anywhere from about 3/4 to 2/10 behind a target vehicle. The officer will zero out his odometer when the target vehicle passes something such as a curve, bridge, shawdow, tree or what ever. Then the officer will hold his speed at a constant speed, noting his odometer when he hits the same spot. That tells him how far he is behind the target vehicle. Next the officer will do this again at another spot on the roadway. Holding his speed and checking his odometer again when he hits that spot. If the officer's odometer shows that the target vehicle is closer than before then the vehicle is going slower than the officer, if it is greater then the target vehicle is going faster than the officer, if the same their speed is the same. From an officer's view this is a good way to pace someone without them seeing you.

I once got clocked doing 102 in a 65 zone years ago. In the dark, no traffic. Saw the cop as I drew close to him. I knew I was busted immediately so I was actually pulled over and stopped by the time he pulled out of his "spot".
He was very thankful for my quick reaction he claimed...lol.
He was a pretty young officer and said since he didn't have to chase after me at those speeds, he would only write me up for 20 over. And that's what he did.
As a grown man, I knew I was wrong and very lucky in more than one way.
I took my medicine and walked into the municipal building the next day and payed my dues.

Pay your fine, son. You broke the law. Be thankful he didn't catch you going faster. Be more thankful nobody, yourself incuded, got injured or worse.

Geo, you must be from the old school like me. used to use this method all the time, especially when traffic was fairly light. I assume we worked for the same agency as no one else knew how to do it!

Never lost a case, had to explain it a few times over to the judge to they'd understand but it was pretty much irrefutable. Pacing for 10 miles was not unheard of, fun times!

I am surprised your questioning the "pacing"
that is normal modus operandus in California. & I'm from Nevada
I have been stopped a bunch of times and they are always pacing on the freeway's.
BTW....at least out West the cops are trained and can gauge your speed by looking at you, and they get it right!
I most always fight tickets and get them lowered not dismissed.
If I was in your shoes....at least out West I would be begging not to get a reckless driveing ticket.
I doubt paying a lawyer would get you off totally, but maybe thats how things roll in Texas.

We all mess up at times. I really like the idea of paying the fine and going to traffic school to avoid points. That's a fair solution. Trying to discredit a cop that was doing his job really sucks. Especially if you really were speeding. The world is full of cheesy game players. I will never play the game that way. I believe I have had more success in my life playing the game my way.

Wow, you're a superspeeder. According to Georgia state laws you would have been taken to jail, given a ticket for $1,000 and a fine for up to $10k and your car impounded, posssibly crushed for going over 88mph. Troofs.

Yeah Georgia is scary. I have two battery mfg plants in Augusta. I got stopped on I20 between Atlanta and Augusta. I was doing 90. I was screamed at. I instantly admitted I was wrong. He wrote me for 80 and didn't impound the car. One of my friends was not so lucky. He ended up in jail for a night and paid 1000's. I20 scares the crap out of me.
