We supply batteries to EZ-Go and Club Car. I actually hate golf. My hobby is airplanes. Even my banker flies the P-51's for planes of fame and owns a T-6.

The Texas legislature has proposed a bill that would increase the State hwy speed limit to 85mph. 90mph is not that fast in Texas. I've seen mini-vans pass me going that fast.
In a pack of Vettes here in the Hill Country Cruise, most were going way faster than me at 125MPH. I also know officers of the law that routinely go quite fast. And finally, no, 90MPH is not that fast in Texas. When I drive on I35 or I45 I see people passing me constantly going 90.

In LA I was going 80 and still had 2/3rd of the traffic passing me constantly.

How fast I've driven doesn't matter, but some of the comments here about how 90 is stupid strike me quite strange as at least in Texas and California, it seem about average.

Wow; speeding and then getting a ticket. Imagine that. You wouldn't have had a laser detector if you didn't speed frequently. My vote goes with the cop.

Finally, you got CAUGHT. Handle the ticket how you see fit, but calling the LEO a liar is needless. Man up.
While my last post was about 90 not being that fast, at least not from what I've seen around me specifically, the fact is that while pacing is not common here in Texas, it does happen.

He got caught. The LEO did him a favor. A huge one. Dallas LEOs are not known for that, neither are Houston. But they sometimes do. He may have liked your car. Who knows. LEOs rarely go purely by the book, so just chalk it up to a learning experience.

This thread went downhill with the LEO bashing and conspiracy theories.

What an ignorant idiot. you're probably the first to call the cops if your Vette gets keyed too.

Look at it this way, 94 MPH for 10 miles is only about 7 minutes - he probably wanted to see if you were going to go any faster or maybe run your plates to see if it was a stolen.

Texas? Get a traffic lawyer, it'll cost you maybe $200 to keep points off your license - but well worth the $$$ IMHO.

Consider yourself lucky; I know I did. Recently I took the 06 Z out to a friends house, about 2 miles away from my house. We both live next to a highway that's almost 100% straight (at least from house to house with intersections between them) and is very tempting at times.

Well, I hadn't actually pushed the vette in a long time, and decided what the hell, let's go through a few gears to let her feel what it's like with the new tires.

Next thing you know I'm at the top of fourth and see a cruiser ahead of me in the middle divider turning around. I instantly pulled over at the next intersection into a less congested area (no traffic coming on the side of me, safer for the cop) and readied all my documents. I handed him my CA driver's license, my Military ID, and registration. He simply said that I was a "f****ng idiot" (which I was), handed the information back to me, got in his truck and left. I was still in shock; I didn't leave the spot for at least a couple of minutes. That was the first time I was pulled over, and quickly realize that I need to go back to Thunderhill Raceway again.

Maybe you should take your car to a track or a texas mile to "get it out" of your system.

It's interesting that here in Las Vegas, you can find dozens of attorneys who will got to court for you for $50 and get your moving violation reduced to a parking ticket. I'm not sure a judge even hears the case. You simply fax them the ticket and that's it. You still have to pay the full fine, but no points go on your record and you don't even have to show up. Well worth it to keep your insurance cost down, but it just proves that neither the cops nor the courts give a $hit about getting you to slow down....it's all about how much money they can collect. This practice might even encourage speeding. A couple of hundred bucks and you're free and clear with a clean record.

Which is not a big deal on an Interstate in almost any vehicle let alone a Vette. Speed limit was invented for 2 reasons : to make local municipalities $$$ in fines and to increase MPG...... and please shut up about safety, in Germany autobans as safe if not safer than our Interstates, and I know this from own experince driving them both.

I must commend PnC KING on not getting angry at all the "Man Up and Pay" and "Put on your big boy pants and pay" comments. People get really brave sitting behind a computer screen. If someone is ever dumb enough to say "Man Up" to my face, being the military guy that I am and always doing what I'm told, I "Man Up" by punching that person in the face. That's just me, but "Man Up" is kind of insulting in the fact that it is insinuating that you're aren't being a man. A good punch to the face lets the other person know exactly how much man they are talking to.

As far as the speed goes. We all know that traffic tickets have more to do with generating income than it does about public safety. If the cop feels that 90 is unsafe, then two vehicles going 90 for 10 miles is twice as unsafe. The cop should "Man Up" by being honest about how he really paced Mr. King. Being a military guy, I have full respect for the cops who keep drugs off the streets and find bad guys. However, the ones who pull sports cars over get little respect from me. I know lots of cops. Most of them drive worse than me. They are the most unsafe drivers I know. A few drive drunk while off duty in the towns they patrol knowing that if they get pulled over, they get a pass out of "professional courtesy". In AZ, I-10 limits are 75, so doing 85-90 is pretty common for me. I saw one post on this thread about a guy being concerned that Mr. King doing 90 on a road that he was on... Seriously? If you own a corvette and are concerned with another corvette doing 90 on the same road you're on, maybe you shouldn't be driving a fast car. The truth is that the safety of all cars has increased so much since speed limits were put in place that they are now obsolete in terms of safety considerations. Traffic cops are FOR THE MOST PART hypocrites. I'd have more respect for them if they would just come out and say something like this when they pull people over: " Excuse me, My name Officer Blah, and I work for the County/City of Blah. Our County/City is in need of your money. I'm about to give you a piece of paper that you will take to the courthouse. You will speak to another disgruntled government employee who has no concern about customer service or personal financial situation. You will either pay my County/City money or go to jail. Have a nice day." At least he would be honest.

Wow..I can't believe you went here with that post and your avatar.. I was LEO for 15 yrs, father was retired USMC 25 yrs and brother active duty Navy Fighter Pilot..I guess I'm a d!ck as you put it. Cops do far more than write speeding tickets. I see from your profile you were the youngest person to buy a Corvette from the dealership you purchased from. I hope you bought a bag of maturity to go with it. God help us if you are still active duty!! Pure ingorance!!

I suppose that you have never broken a law or driven badly......BTW... I live in Tucson and woud be happy to have a cup of coffee and talk this over with you......
