Default C6 Reliability

Lately I've been reading several threads and articles about C6 Corvette problems. I would like to know what the overall experience of fellow Corvette owners have found to be the case. Let me know if you happen to be one of the lucky ones that have never had to take your car into the dealer for issues and how many months/years old your car is and how many miles are on it. I currently have a 2010 GS that is 19 months old and has 4200 miles on it. It has never been to a dealer for anything other than oil changes and inspections. I definitely give my vette a

My Vette has been near perfect. A few minor warranty issues that were taken care of easily..

The owners I see with problems are the ones who rarely drive their car. So I guess you are in for trouble. Watch out for leaks in those unused seals.

08 with 21,000 and just the usual creaks. Some dealership detailing problems at pickup but nothing regarding reliability. Oh and of course the axle nut and rear diff. fluid do overs.

Mine is not a dd and usually just drive it once per week. When I do I usually put on some miles, for the most part.

This forum is BIG, which makes it fun. For every few problems you read about, thousands don't suffer the same.

I've had two C5's and on my second C6. 2002 had the infamous differential leak, but covered and cured under warranty. Drove it 50k miles, no problems. 2006 had a tranny rebuild, but under warranty. Drove it another 30k, and no problems. 45k on the 1997, and 17k on the 2010. Zilch problems. Yes, the 1997 was known to have some issues, but bought it used, and the original owner had cleaned everything up.

For me, the C6 "bang for the buck" ain't just the performance. It is also the reliability and fairly low maintainance for a sports car. I've had more problems with the last three DD's.

My '08 (bought new) has 13,000 miles of smiles on it. Summers only.

Absolute pleasure to drive, not a single issue (okay, I fixed the roof creak), and never been to the dealer.

What an awesome car! The C6 stands alone.

2007 with 35000 km after a 8000 km 10 day run, only reason I ever had it in was for DBS. I am thinking of extended warranty however.

My 07 had almost 40k on it and only one warranty issue and that was on day one...Radio antenna wasn't connected...took ten minutes to fix no other issues not even a battery..

My 08 vert has 28k miles with one recall, which made me smile when I got it last year. It read like this, Your convertible top may peel back at speeds above 100mph. I did take it in and had the plastic strip installed on the top, because I do travel at speeds in excess of 100, I wonder how they knew that, must have been Onstar LOL

09 Z06 with 15,000 miles. When new I had the axle nuts replaced under warranty, as one was loose. Other then that, never been to the dealer. I do my own oil changes. Don't drive it that often, but when I do, it's for longer rides, to get everything up to temp. It's been a very dependable car. Starts every time I push the button and I keep a float charger on it if I know I'm not going to be driving it for at least 3 weeks.

Oh, and I've blown up the crappy LS7 every 5,000, or so, miles. J/K

I'm convinced cars need to be driven a lot to be trouble free. Although, I've never had a vette that didn't leak oil.

The reason you see so many posts about problems, is because the owners are seeking advice on how to deal with the issue in question.

And, Owners rarely post just to let everyone know that their car is working fine.

Mine has been pretty trouble free (hope I don't jinx myself) except for the well known TSB's concerning the diff fluid and AH connector fix in the steering column. Still using OEM Delco Battery.

Having a nearby Corvette Specialty Shop that is authorized to perform GMPP warranty work means I have not taken it to a Dealer. I'm lucky/fortunate to have this option.

I took the very long way home from work today and was (coincidentally) thinking about how little maintenance I've had to do.

Bang for the buck indeed.

'09 Coupe bought in Aug. 2008 now with 14,000 miles. Never been into the shop for any service other than routine maintenance. Its been a great running car and I've enjoyed it immensely.

I drive mine everyday!! 2008 with 79,000 miles on it. The only problem that I've have with the car is that I ripped my seat. I guess it wasn't meant for somebody that's 6'6" and 230 pounds.

The only glitch w/ my '06 (7600 miles) Z51 was a persistent battery drain that began about ten months ago. This was my second battery. The car is driven about every five days. The glitch was fixed via a TSB that referenced the receiver for the door fob unlocking mechanism, which was "waking up" when it wasn't supposed to, and draining the battery. The dealership tech corrected the problem quickly. Apparently it is not a common glitch. Milli-amp drainage is now w/in spec.

I have an 09 with 13k (I bought it at the very end of 09, right before the new year) and only problem I have had was one of the hydraulic struts on the rear lid went out. fixed under warranty in a couple of hours as we waited.

I've replaced the battery in my 08(bought with 7900miles), though I may not have needed to, and that has been it in the 5000 miles I've had it. Didn't have any other previous services besides oil changes before I had it. My driving has been sporadic, sometimes once in a week and sometimes almost every day.

I've never heard a news story about how a plane landed without incident, either.
