The car was bought used and it is what it is. No warranty is going to cover parts just because they are not original. Considering it is 4+ years old it could have a number of after market or non-original parts.
Don't be too concerned . That's what corvette owners do. We take our cars apart and mod the hell out of them. The console is one piece that changed in 2008. Not that many other parts have changed since 2005 with the exception of a few. Like others have recommended have the car looked at by someone local that knows what a 2008 should look like with the options and features your car should have. Do you know if you bought a 1 2 3 or 4lt package? That's the different trim packages available on the c6. Anyway let the dealer know about the console and see what they are willing to do. Maybe they will get you one at cost or even better free. Good luck

Looks like the prior owner just had the small cover customized or replaced it. You can look for a replacement grey cover piece or replace the whole console. I just replaced the center console last month on my 2006. It may be difficult to find only the plastic cover.
I would have to disagree with C6Tim. If this vehicle was sold "as is", that would be one thing, but it wasn't. It was presented to me as "Certified Pre-Owned" which GM advertises to have passed an inspection:
"Our detailed, 172-Point Vehicle Inspection and Reconditioning Process is one of the toughest hurdles in the industry. Before any Chevy, Buick, GMC, Pontiac or Saturn vehicle earns the title of Certified Pre-Owned, it must pass all of our rigorous standards first.
Our 172-Point Vehicle Inspection and Reconditioning Process is conducted only by highly trained technicians and adheres to strict, factory-set standards to ensure that every vehicle's engine, chassis and body is in excellent condition.
And we do check it all. From the engine block to the shocks, right down to the floor mats, no part is overlooked. If it fails a single point, we completely recondition it—or it won't be Certified.
And part of the requirements says: "possess all of its original equipment." If the center console needed to be replaced, it should have been replaced with one from a 2008 or newer, not a 2007. If it came to the dealership that way, it still should have been replaced back to original equipment or not certified.
My problem with all this is they advertised it as CPO, I chose this vehicle over others and was willing to pay more because of that. This car should never have passed their "inspection" (there are other issues) and therefore, I believe, it was false advertising.
I'm not speaking for the dealer, as I've never heard of them, but to look at the other side of the coin, if the original owner switched the console out and didn't mention it to the dealer, how would the dealer know? I doubt that the items checked off during the dealer's inspection said "does the car have the correct console in place?". I doubt the guy checking the car knows every little detail of every model car he inspects. He can only go down the inspection list and check off those items listed.
I really do feel bad for the OP as he didn't get what he thought he was buying. He does need to keep on the dealer's case to get all the problems resolved. It's unfortunate that he has to go to that trouble.
you just need to go talk to the dealer. good chance they'll stand behind it and make it right. they certified it and are responsible. don't wait too long to do it though
Here is a picture of the entire console. I have just had my issues escalated to a "district specialist". Hopefully I will be able to get everything resolved.

yep, that's on 07 console, is that a crack just below the E-brake? also see a gap there. might be nothing but given the circumstances I would suspect a swap was done.
Not just a crack, it's broken. Considering the broken trim and the fact that the console lid is held on by one screw (the rest of the holes are stripped), whoever changed out the console didn't do a very good job. The dealership at first didn't want to fix the trim or the lid, but GM Customer Service got them to change their mind. That was before I knew it was from an older vehicle. Now, hopefully, GM can convince them to replace the whole console.
I was just wondering though, what could have made someone change it out? Is there some other damage I should be looking for? What could have happened that would have made it necessary to replace the console?

It does baffle the mind as to why someone would swap out new for old. But I would not suspect accident here, other things would be more visible, like the dash not fitted correctly. My thought here is the previous owner damaged the original dash somehow and just purchased a cheap used one and had trouble installing it. Good luck.
The broken trim piece can be replaced for like $20-30 through many salvage yards or in the parts for sale section . This is a no brainer guys the owner removed the console and sold it for 300+ and put the silver console in which can be bought used for like 50$. The seller knew that the new owner would probably not notice until it was too late. Not everyone knows about the forum therefore they don't know Vettes like we do.

I believe it is a 3LT considering the options it has. I'm not sure what you mean about the cluster shrouds. They look silver like in the picture above. I did notice a difference in the ***** on the radio and the climate controls. Are the ***** in the pictures above upgrades? The volume control **** is definitely bigger and all of them seem glossier than on my car. I will have to take better pictures tomorrow so you all can see.
I checked the VIN and it is an '08.
What is F55?
GM's district rep asked me how I knew it was an old console and I told him that 2007 and earlier had gray consoles with the "tombstone" insert and 2008 was carbon fiber and no insert. He told me I really knew my Corvettes. I told him not really, but the people on Corvette Forum did! He also asked if it really was a big deal if the console came from an older model. Really? Of course it is.
The po probably had a friend with a 07, and prior to trade in the swap was made. I think the dealer owes you a 08 console, certified is a strong word, it claims the vehicle is factory correct and has been inspected with all repairs complete. I have yet to see a owner modified vehicle at a dealership considered cpo. Certified or not, do your homework prior to purchasing a used vehicle, know it inside and out, "Buyer Beware"

Thanks for all the help.
The cluster shroud are the pods on each side of you cluster, where HUD buttons and the instrument panel buttons/adjustments are. The F55 is a select suspension control, and the **** for it goes where that carbon fiber tombstone is, the one that is totally different then the rest of your console.
