Great points and find. The decline in C6 sales the last 3-4 years has also been in part due to the economy in the last 4 years with continued high unemployment, declining home values, increasing fuel cost, and a poor outlook for the near future.
So true, for most folks.
I believe the 2007 C6 sales were in excess of 43,000 units. It was a peak year for the C6.
Am I the only one or others getting tired of the cry baby rants. If you don't like it get rid of it and move on! Life is short.
In life there are folks with problems, and there are folks with real problems. Too many folks think their 'princely' problems are real issues - get your head out of your poor me'ness, and get some perspective.

The economy could be part of it. But looking at the sales of Camaro, Mustang, Challenger, even Porsche 911 and Boxster that can't be all of it.
The biggest drop off was between 2008 and 2009 and sales never recovered.
Frankly, I think many potential buyers see the C6 as a continuation of the C5 and its been time for a change for a few years now. Many C5 owners never saw the need to move to the C6.
Also, there's a lot more competition in the $50-75k performance car price category.
Fewer people are buying just on 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. Technology, build quality and material quality are becoming more important as municipalities get more agressive with the mobile tax collectors.
The idea that you can simply throw a big V8 engine into a lightweight body and people will beat a path to your door might be over for good.

Great points. Increased competition has certainly taken a bite into Corvette sales. Each car you mentioned with few exceptions has a back seat. In these incredibly tough economic times it is hard for a guy to go home to the wife and tell her he is buying a toy that the kids cannot sit in.
Although the Mustang and Camaro have done well the Porsche company sales that have declined globally in 2011. The Porsche bright spot has ironically been the four door of all things.
Clearly for at least another year we will be struggling with a tough economy. It is much worse then even reported with some 27.3 million Americans out of work. This is not the time that people buy toys.
America has continued to slide and slide down fast. I hope we can get the country going in the right direction soon. It will be very tough. Untill then you may be correct the V8 engine in a lightweight body will suffer in sales and maybe worse.
On the bright side for Corvette the C7 is going to be a rock star of a car.

I been saying this for a long time now. GM is by far the worse in the car industry when it comes to quality and service. We are blessed to not only have the worst in quality of cars but have to suffer more when the car has any issues and we have to take it in for service.

Read the post above yours. Blew you right out of the water.
I strongly urge you to do some research. Once you do you will clearly see how wrong you are.
I would rather have a cheap interior part break off, than be stranded on the side of the road in some Euro trash car with a nice interior. The OP would have a field day in my then new 2002 BMW M5. The dealer was fantastic. I got to drive all the latest BMWs. Too bad I couldnt keep mine out of the shop.
BTW I just got back from a 1000 + mile trip from Chicago to Bowling Green, KY (via scenic route). Not a single issue or complaint. Wife and I were very comfortable. I am not sure why so many people have plastic issue - we bought PLASTIC cars for God's sake.
I had a similar problem. The plastic power window switch on the driver's side for the passenger side window broke. Since it was considered a trim part it was not covered under the warranty. However, my dealer(whom I have purchased 5 cars from) replaced it without charge and while I waited(approx. 20minutes). GM may not care, but a good dealer will take care of their customers.
All depends on who is running the store. Does not necessarily mean a bad relationship from his end. Busy stores service doesn't have a clue to who bought how many of what and when.
I'm ok with GM quality. The fit and finish is also ok. My gripe is with GM not having much control over crappy dealers who label a car as "CPO"
My "better than new" "we inspect it all so you don't have to" has had the battery replaced on day three. After the first rain I had washed the car and found 1600.00 in paint issues, then a few weeks later I noticed the leather dash was damaged. So much for "reconditioned to factory like standards". GM customer service was no help. Not the forums members who claim to be customer service, nor Facebook GM, or the 1800 GM.
Spent 100.00 in fees for court filling only to have the dealership hide behind name and using a registered agent. You would think you could sue the dealership and serve the dealership. Instead I have to sue Hendrick Chevorlet and serve the agent. I wasted 100.00 suing Rick Hendricks. If they hide behind a lawyer again then I will have to hire a lawyer and then I might as well make it a superior court case for the full amount. Also let the lawyer involve the law enforcement. Since it is a form of theft to misrepresent an item. According to the "dealer" inspection guide the car should have not been sold as certified.
Love the car though - just wish the dealership was honest or at least admitted a mistake was made. Instead they lied and said such damage is all acceptable and IAW GM guidelines. I have a copy of the "dealer" manual.
