What's your winter car?

My new 2012 Corvette Coupe, except for those 5 or 6 days we get a light dusting of snow and those 2" to 3" of snow we'll get about twice.

I have a Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport and the wife has a BMW 328i x-drive with the sport package, so I have to put blizzacks on for her. Both of us have 4/all wheel drive, so were physically ready for snow. Our emotional readiness is a different story. I really dislike snow.

Been looking for a replacement for the Sable, but with the used car market being insane with pricing, I'm having a hard time. I'm the guy that will wait forever till he finds a "deal"

My winter car and current DD is actually a truck. It’s 10 Toyota Tundra 4x4 and during the winter it gets a Fisher snow plow. I live a ¼ mile off the road up the side of a hill and need such a driver for winter. My wife has a 2011 SUV for the same reason. My last 14 DDs have also been 4x4 PUs.(they were all Chevies)
Vette goes to sleep in Nov most years and is off the road till all the sand and salt is off our roads in spring (that is normally around end of March)

Living around Nashville I can pretty much drive the Vette year round. We do have our share of ice and very little snow. On the days they put down brine and/or salt the Vette will stay in the garage and I will drive my Jetta TDI.

I've driven the c300 in 8-10 inch snow...did great. The 2013 comes with more HP and ECO stop. I got the AMG pkg...something about the red seat belts and stitching against the black suede really got me. Would recommend.

I don't think you're crazy. You know your own driving needs the best. Chances are the all-wheel drive Mercedes will suffice for all but the worst road conditions. You should be fine and drivin' in style.
Although, snow is rare where I live in Tucson I value the all-around utility and capabilities of a large, 4WD truck or SUV. For hauling the family and/or cargo, for towing trailers and for when high clearance and 4-wheel drive are necessary it's nice to have the capabilities of a big 4WD truck or SUV.

Burning Brakes
a very good question OP!
I have two sports cars now since I trade my Infiniti G for the GS.
Don't have a winter beater yet.
Hoping for another mild winter, using the older sports car for around town stuff, or biting the bullet for a $6K really used AWD SUV.
Living this week by week at this point, but doing a lot of looking and research.

I'm jealous! Winter is fickle here in NJ; two years ago got 3 feet, and last year 10 inches in Oct!
