Get over it. A base model is a base model. A V6 Camaro is a base Camaro, regardless of whether it has a sunroof. Corvettes are no different.

One day I saw a "base" Lexus LFA for sale at $375,000. Base doesn't always mean cheap

Truth ^^
Maybe everyone's self worth and ego is represented by their purchase and each step higher in model, or trim is somehow representative of how they are personally superior too.

Have to agree. Even though I knew what base meant, it never really sat well with me when I heard people calling $50,000 4lt corvettes a
base.

I made sure my GS was a 1LT, because I hate HUD, I hate perforated seats,I bought my own cargo net,and I have a bluetooth earpiece. And saved thousands in the process.

Trim level and options have nothing to do with what model it is. Its either a base a Z06 a GS or a ZR1.

It just slays me the way folks actually care about this stupid stuff.

Does anyone really think that the average person on the street can tell the difference between a "Base", or a "Grand Sport", or a "ZR-1".

Hell, every so often, some one will ask me if my car is the new "Stingray".

Anyone who would feel offended because their 'vette is referred too as a "Base" model, needs to re-evaluate priorities in their life.

RPO Codes 1YY07 and 1YY67 are listed as the base model. That is the coupe and the convertible with no options. Once you start adding option even with the 1YY07 or 67, they technically are no longer a base unite. Be it as simply mentioned ordering the 1YY07 with the RPO code of Z51. Although this is not a specific model, it is an option added to a base unit.

Difference is that at base Camaro V6 runs quarter in 14 seconds while the base Corvette can run it as quickly as 12.3....."base" corvette is nothing like a V6 stang or camaro when it comes to performance and that is all that matters!

Spot on 430. I like the way the term "Upgrade" is thrown around in these rooms. You always hear something like "I finally sold my base and "Upgraded" to a GS. Or something along those lines. To me its not the year or "Out The Dealers Door" price that makes the car. It doesn't really matter what year Corvette it is....if its taken care of and kept in top notch shape through hard work it needs no more upgrading to be a first class ride.
