I've been a Vette enthusiast since 16, now I'm 55 ... don't really care what other's think or don't think, I own and drive them for my own enjoyment and enjoy sharing my enthusiasm with other's that feel the same.
67 years young here and I would sleep with my Corvette if it did not snore!
I don't know and don't care. I buy and drive for me, no one else.
I'm 72 and now own my 5th & 6th Corvette, so if this is a midlife crisis, I'm in for a long ride.
You could sell it and buy a AMG C63 or CTSV you will be just as fast and everyone will leave you alone because its such a boring looking car ...plus you will be allot more comfortable.
From: If you wanna live life on your own terms, you gotta be willing to crash and burn Florida
I'm 34 and I'm on my second Vette. I love the car, I have since I was a little boy. I'll always own one. One thing I do hate is the attention because I do like to lay low. When I lived in South Florida it's like I was driving a Dodge Omni, nobody cared. Now that I'm living up in Hell/Green Bay it's like having a Lambo. People are 100% haters up here, they park close to you, they cut you off when driving. If your driving fast in your lane they'll go into your lane at the last moment so you have to slam on your brakes, they flash their brights at you if you pass them, ride your *** if you're going plenty over the speed limit. It sucks up here, people are fat, ugly and the whole culture is drunk and miserable. A lady parked smack next to me when I literally parked a block out from the store with hundreds of open spots last week. I was just getting over a cold, she had plenty oozing down her door and window, she couldn't have missed it!
I'm 63 and have double standards. If I receive positive reactions when in my '70 or '10GS I like those folks. If I received negative reactions I just think those folks are 'haters' and have issues. Either way I'm driving and smiling all the while keeping a eye out for fellow Vetters'. Enjoy your ride.
My buddy lived in Duluth, MN, for a few years, and he told me that once he and his wife parked their BMW Z4 outside a restaurant, and when they came out, a middle-aged couple was standing by the car, and the woman said to her husband, "Kinda makes you want to get out your key, don't it?" My friend was appalled, but he and his wife just hopped in and waved and smiled at the flustered couple as they drove off. My friend is back in California now, where his car doesn't even stand out.
I just don't understand this thinking. I would never get pleasure out of damaging someone else's car, even if it were a flaming pink Bugatti Veyron. But some people really do seem to enjoy putting down what others have.

True. I live in NC and there aren't that many Vettes around Hickory that I know of or see. Its a huge target for imports. More so than mustangs and camaros.

That kind of attitude is totally unthinkable to me. I just can't understand it. Must be jealousy.
62 Y.O. here and I have been driving fast cars since I could afford them..more than 30 yrs now. People that know me know that my current ride (murdered out 2010 GS M6) is just another in a long line of fun cars. People that don't know me may think I turned 60, started screwing my secretary and bought a corvette. Free country I guess...
My mid life crisis happened somewhere around 35 - 45, so that is no longer a consideration here. Should someone suggest I am having a mid life crisis, I look on it as a compliment to my good looks and hopefully a minimal amount of tell tale aging effects.
My new-to-me '12 Centennial GS is my third Vette. I've not noticed too many negative comments; there have been tons of positive comments and thumbs-up. I could care less what other people think; I bought the car because I like it.
I hate the haters, just like this morning. At 4:15 am on the way into work, cruising down the Interstate, a guy in a Civic comes onto the highway from an entrance ramp and pulls directly into my lane (the center lane of 3), causing me to need to hit the brakes or I would have hit him. If he had waited 30 seconds he could have pulled in right behind me. There's no accounting for dumb a$$e$........
They're just jealous, and scared they will never attain what you did Don. It's their problem, not your's. As Lisa said, F 'em, and feed 'em fish. Enjoy your Vette, you deserve it.
As far as getting off remarks, I really don't get them. All of my long time friends know I will never drive a blahmobile, and would think I was sick if I did. My newer, and younger friends are probably cautious because they expect at my advanced age I may be a bit forward in my response.
Ah yes....the ol "Feed Em Fish"....LOL. Haven't heard that in a while....albeit when we used that term it was "Feed Em Fish Heads"....must have used it during my mid-life crisis...LOL.
I just bought my second used vette. A Lemans blue 07 z51. I'm finding people's reactions run the gamut. Some won't say a word. Some say good for you. Some even are angry and/or jelous. One young man in a parking lot said to me "Sir, what did you do to get that corvette" I told him I worked all my life. It's only a used car! I'm 56 years old now and do also feel a bit foolish and uncomfortable with the attention the car gets. It's a head turner but it makes me smile all over every time I look at it. And the feeling I get when behind the wheel is amazing. These cars are flat bitchin. I hope it never gets old.
44 here... when I am cruising down A1A on the weekends, not too worried about anything. One of the great benefits I have found in owning a Vette is the ability to get away from the stress and anxiety of the world!
Being an old fart myself, I really don't give a rat's a$$ what anybody thinks. When I hear the "mid life crisis," crap, I come back with, I told my wife that I was at a point in my life where I wanted a girlfriend, a motorcycle, or a fast car. She said two of those will get you killed, so I bought a Vette.
