Hey Trip....I was gonna stay out of this but now I just have to chime in....don't be "TRIPPUN" (LOL) over this guy. Your spot on with your assessment of being a "Prove everyone wrong type of guy". As mentioned in another thread he is probably between 16 and 25 years old and when he has a problem he starts crying for Daddy...or his attorney. But there ain't no way he can be married cause thers no way no woman could put up with always being told she was doing the "Down and dirty" wrong....LOL.
WTF are you? And where do you get of saying I cry to daddy or an attorney all the time? I haven't one mentioned my dad in a thread so you're just lying. Typical of internet trolls to just make crap up. You must live a sad lonely existence if starting random crap online is how you get your kicks
Got my first vette when I was 55 and am on my second and probably last one (plan to keep it until it or I stop). I seldom get negative comments, but my brother-in-law who is a CPA and drives and SUV can't understand why I bought it.
Recently I have started to feel foolish when I'm in my vette. It draws a lot of attention as you guys know and peoples reactions to it has started to bother me. I'm 63 now and though most everyone likes the car they react to me with disdain. It's "oh look another old guy trying to hang onto his youth" or younger women doing all they can to catch up to me only to look over with a reaction of disappointment its an older guy's vette. I know-who cares what others think? Well we all care to some degree or you would be alone your whole life. Anyway just wondered if anyone else is dealing with this. You younger guys 'do you get negative reactions for other reasons?
its none of your business what other people think of you.do what YOU like with YOUR life period.

So......I think you need to be happy that your basically crushing it at 60+ and see others envy of your success.
I agree with you for the most part. So many negative people. I'm don't have much, but I got nothing but love for nice things. It's amazing how many younger folks have nothing these days. It's amazing how many couples live together and the only reason why they're doing it is to save a buck. I was shocked how many skanks I fooled around with that were living with homeslice because they cannot afford their own place or they don't want to give up their new car etc. No different than a *****. I live by myself, with two deadbeat roommates(cats) It's wonderful not to be a victim of societies expectations. You cant please everyone, so you got to please yourself. Living and making it on our own is not easy, but I wouldn't want it any other way Funk all the nice car hater's it goes for anything, society and social media has made regular shmucks into full blow narcissists everyone tries to one up no matter what. Same **** goes on here on the forum. One just buys a Z, some guy who cant get one insults it calling it a POS, and their rocking a car light years beneath. It never made sense to me why people are so bitter towards some peoples success. I don't like braggers etc, but most people that have coin are the last to show it off.

Who cares? Don't like my lifestyle?........bad luck. It is so low on my list of things to consider, really, it is. Actually, it's not on my list of things to consider.

Coming from an old guy who refuses to grow up, the only time I feel foolish is when friends convince me to go to a Corvette show with them. I sit there really feeling foolish watching people look at my completely stock 2005 Vette. Correction; it was completely stock until this week when I replaced my original OEM chrome wheels with the gloss black C7 Z51 wheels you like so much.
I'm 66 and have been foolish a good while now with my '07 . I get thumbs up mostly and a lot of "that's what I want's" from guys with other rides. I'm a spirited, but careful driver (it's a Corvette, for goodness sake) and maybe seeing what a vette can do, brings back memories, excitement, and joy to "older" guys like myself .
I was driving mine the other day and a guy walking in the opposite direction stuck his thumb out. I gave him a dirty look thinking does that idiot think I would stop to give him a ride? After a block or two it finally dawned on me that he was giving me a thumb up I guess I just had a senior moment.
Great thing about getting older is just not caring what other people think. When I want to blend in I drive my 89 cadillac. I'll even drive it at 40mph and leave the turn signal on.

LOL..I'm still trying to figure out why some people drive Priuses?

I agree with most of what you say. Some good insight in your post. Thx, Donwil

I drove two Priuses for 10 years and got 60+ mpg. Today I drive a Ford plugin hybrid, along with a semi-competition C6 and an AMG. I am very competitive [just ask my ex-wife] and competition comes in many forms. I have proved that I can turn competitive laps on a track in a race car, but how often can that be arranged? I can drive my hybrid every day and average almost 200 mpg, and for me, that's just another form of competition. I work just as hard driving the hybrid on the street for max mileage as I would turning laps at Road Atlanta or Atlanta Motorsports Park.

Well I'm glad you got some wheels on there that fit your style. You know, a vette owner with completely no taste. I just went to a show with mostly vettes and there was a guy there with a '15 dsom zo6. I stopped and was going to ask him a couple things but he was too busy telling anyone who would listen how much he spent on it and how he just made a killing in the market. I couldn't leave fast enough. I'm pretty sour on car shows.

I'm 75, 4 months from 76. I bought my Corvette in Feb 2014 and it is my first. I've wanted one all of my life and It took me all of these years to justify buying one. I really couldn't care less what people think when they see me driving it. Maybe I am trying to hang on to my youth but I don't see anything wrong with that.
To be honest 63 doesn't seem like an old guy to me.

I remember when my parents were 50 and I thought man,I'll never be THAT old! Now 50 sounds young. Glad you got your vette after wanting one so long. They are fun. Enjoy it all you can. It's good to see you didn't give up on your dream just because you are older. Too many of us do that.
