Donuts!!
keep doing what you're doing girl...you're getting more out of your car than these old farts around here
Corvettes do fine in the rain if the tires are not burned off of them.

Seriously, Vettes run around here a lot in the rain, but they have all season tires instead of performance tires that you are probably running. Some of the performance tires won't do well in rain even when they are new.
A lot of people have two sets of wheels. One with track tires, one with something for whatever kind of street driving they plan.
Hope the driving school goes well. Meantime, keep all four wheels on the ground. Not long ago, a guy here decided to drift a little as he powered out of a parking lot onto a street. He over powered it and ended up off the far side of the street with his car upside down. Fortunately he wasn't hurt, but his car was pretty much gone. So, learning on the street is not a great place. A track is much better or at least use a very large parking lot where nobody else is around and the situation is controlled (like the auto crosses).
I'm sure you know your neighborhood, but in my area there are too many uncontrolled situations to drive aggressively on a court or cul-de-sac. (kids, dogs, wandering old guys with dementia, cats, etc). Not lecturing, just saying to give things a lot of thought if you haven't already.
I can't speak for all old farts but I have as much fun in my C6 as many of the whiney youngsters on the forum do.

Can't tell by your profile if you're one of them or not

This year at Goodguys Del Mar a guy thought he'd show off in his 1959 or 60 Corvette roadster leaving the parking lot. He got on it, lost it and ended up jumping a curb and embedding his front end in a palm tree. It was shown on the news. Hopefully his collector car insurance company didn't see it.

blue - old
red - whining

you must have quite an imagination to conclude the red is whining

I'm sure not acting my age involving myself in these debates. On second thought a group of us old Corvette owner farts meet at Starbucks and spend most of the time in similar debates.

Either that or they will correct you by saying, "And the reality is _______ " (i.e. My opinion is correct, yours sucks and here's why . . . )

The vast majority of people DO NOT act like that in real life, as I'm sure you know.
