C6 Clock/Nav fix...
Last edited by scottg; Apr 25, 2020 at 06:15 AM.
Tomorrow I plan on trying to load it into my radio/navigation unit ( it is raining today) .
I have read all 200+ posts here once and also I have read all of the posts from thecorvettemechanic about it three times.
1: So what I am wondering is, does the front of the radio/navigation unit have to be closed for it to load?
I worry about closing the front because some people have had problems with not being able to get the front open again.
2: I understand that the car should be outside, although one person has said that they did it successfully in their garage.
3: The car needs to be running. Is that correct?
4: After the new software is loaded I then need to reinsert the navigation disk for everything to finish. Is that correct?
Thank you in advance for any help.

Sort of disappointing that GM didn't solve this sooner and make the fix known and available. Thank you Internet.
Yes I am new here and just bought my Lemans blue 2007 Corvette coupe last month.
I am a first time Corvette owner but not new to turning wrenches .
So far I have fixed my exterior door handles and my shaky interior rear view mirror thanks to this site.
I am far from being a computer wiz but I can do the things I am interested in.
I have certainly been known to drop a few F-bombs in my day including trying to figure out how to unzip that file and burn it to the disk, lol
.Yes the file I burned to a brand new Memorex CDR was named LOADING.KWI .
I even burned a second disk as a practice to make sure (hopefully) that I got it right.
When I remove the disk and reinsert it and look at the files on it LOADING.KWI is the only file that shows up on both disks that I burned.
I extracted the file using Windows 10 and burned it to the disk.
I do not know for sure if the disk is finalized or not. Nothing seemed to offer that kind of option.
Do you guys know if it will load without closing the front of the radio/navigation unit?
I am hoping to try this tomorrow. I'll keep the booze chilled and ready just in case, lol.
It seems hard to believe that it took GM/Delphi so long for a fix to show up.
I thought this was the 21st. century.

.EDIT ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It worked!
Thank you Corvette Forum and thank you to everyone involved here.
A special thanks to rc51racer for putting up the original posting.
I just bought this car about a month ago and this website has already allowed me to fix my door handles, fix my shaky interior mirror, get a nice new front license plate holder and now fix my clock/navigation unit.
Much appreciated and I am glad to be a member here.
