Got the disks, put the nav disk first waited as per instructions from FACADE and low and behold When it first appeared on the screen the clock did not appear then 5 seconds later bam it was there then put in the updated nav disk and had all the regions come up on the nave menu. In these times sitting in the driveway car running and no place to go, It put a smile on my face. Thank-You FACADE for sending those disks to me. And to JOHN ROW we have the same year and color car and seems the same problem

Hello I am not much of a computer expert but it looks like I have managed to burn the file: "LOADING.KWI 2020-4-17 10;33 AM KWI File 11,104 KB" onto a Memorex CDR disk.
Tomorrow I plan on trying to load it into my radio/navigation unit ( it is raining today) .

I have read all 200+ posts here once and also I have read all of the posts from thecorvettemechanic about it three times.

1: So what I am wondering is, does the front of the radio/navigation unit have to be closed for it to load?
I worry about closing the front because some people have had problems with not being able to get the front open again.

2: I understand that the car should be outside, although one person has said that they did it successfully in their garage.

3: The car needs to be running. Is that correct?

4: After the new software is loaded I then need to reinsert the navigation disk for everything to finish. Is that correct?

Thank you in advance for any help.

I did it like I was told started it put the car in the driveway took out the nav disk with the car running and put the fix disk in pushed the button and watched it load on the screen. After the clock appeared I took out the clock fix disk and put in the updated nav disk in smiled a lot and went in the house and made a drink. That part was not on the instructions but worked for me. Good luck.

Default Finally Got it to Work

After a few aborted attempts on my '07 and dropping many many f-bombs I started all over with a fresh CD-R (DVD-R does NOT work. Ask me how I know...). The steps to do it are simple and when the updating screen popped up I was ecstatic. 40 minutes later I was able to fix my neighbor's '06 on the first try. You have to have a CD-R and unzip the download. What you burn to the disc is LOADING.KWI.

Sort of disappointing that GM didn't solve this sooner and make the fix known and available. Thank you Internet.

scottg and ccrvtt thank you for the replies and the welcome.
Yes I am new here and just bought my Lemans blue 2007 Corvette coupe last month.
I am a first time Corvette owner but not new to turning wrenches .
So far I have fixed my exterior door handles and my shaky interior rear view mirror thanks to this site.
I am far from being a computer wiz but I can do the things I am interested in.
I have certainly been known to drop a few F-bombs in my day including trying to figure out how to unzip that file and burn it to the disk, lol .

Yes the file I burned to a brand new Memorex CDR was named LOADING.KWI .
I even burned a second disk as a practice to make sure (hopefully) that I got it right.
When I remove the disk and reinsert it and look at the files on it LOADING.KWI is the only file that shows up on both disks that I burned.
I extracted the file using Windows 10 and burned it to the disk.
I do not know for sure if the disk is finalized or not. Nothing seemed to offer that kind of option.

Do you guys know if it will load without closing the front of the radio/navigation unit?

I am hoping to try this tomorrow. I'll keep the booze chilled and ready just in case, lol.

It seems hard to believe that it took GM/Delphi so long for a fix to show up.
I thought this was the 21st. century.

The screen door has to be closed to load the file.

Thank you 2008 Corvette .

EDIT ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It worked!

Thank you Corvette Forum and thank you to everyone involved here.
A special thanks to rc51racer for putting up the original posting.
I just bought this car about a month ago and this website has already allowed me to fix my door handles, fix my shaky interior mirror, get a nice new front license plate holder and now fix my clock/navigation unit.
Much appreciated and I am glad to be a member here.

OK, I hate to ask, but is anyone able to send me a CD with this fix? I like many do not have the ability to burn my own CD right now. I have an 09 and had to replace my battery yesterday and when I fired everything back up, no clock!

Let me know and thanks!

Buck - I live in Kennesaw and I’ve got the disk. I’ll let you have it since I just replaced my head unit. Message me and we’ll set something up.

Thanks a ton Fast Dawg! I will shoot you a PM. Maybe we can meet up somewhere convenient in the Kennesaw area soon. I live on the north end of town just a block off of Cobb Parkway, near the North Cobb High School area.

I just did the fix on a friends car, total procedure time was about 7 minutes start to finish. When the new software disk in inserted it takes about 2 minutes to complete the loading process, the screen tells you when it is loading and the green bar on the screen keeps you up to date on where is is in the loading process. Remove the disk when finished loading and the clock is back.

Here is my issue. I successfully did the update when the fix first came out. I got my clock back and everything worked. Today I received a message out of the blue that a software update was in progress and then a caution warning that the wrong disk was inserted. Now I can't get the door to open to take out my Nav disk and put the update back in. How do you manually get the door to open? Pushing the eject button does nothing. I don't see an emergency hole for a paper clip. OK, I figured out that by applying a slight amount of pressure with a little plastic hook while pressing the open button, the screen door would open. It came open in the "out" position but I was still able to eject the Nav DVD and put in the update CD. It updated again with the screen door not closed. After the update, the screen door button started working again. Everything is OK. I just can't figure out why I had to update again after a successful update a few months back. The only variable is I don't have the radio on too often when I drive the car. In fact, it was off the last time I drove it and I have not turned it on. I think it turned itself on and started the update process.

Whomever created this update is a god to me!
