Hi ... yes, worked fine for me ... I also then took the time to learn how to use the Nav functions ... I found a tutorial on youtube ... I have to admit the nav app works fine once you understand the structure - and I love the heads up nav display. I had planned to upgrade the radio a more modern unit - but now don't know ... :-/

The OEM Nav is pretty powerful in itself. It's not intuitive like a Garmin, but everybit as good to get you where you have to go.
I've been using it for 10 years, and it's awesome with the HUD integration. I preplan most of our road trips, so I tend to use memory points for my daily destination input.
It allows entering those while the car is in movement.
Can anybody help me out here, can someone mail me out the CD to do this? Pay for mailing and whatever.
thanks
Just a suggestion - can you download the file, unzip it, and put it on a USB pen? If so, there's got to be computer repair shops nearby to you who could easily burn a CD for you. They could also unzip the file as well. Can't imaging they'd charge very much and it would be quicker than getting one mailed to you. Maybe you can find a shop that would download the file, unzip it, and burn it onto a CD for you as another option.
I think companies like Staples, UPS retail outlets and so on will do this as well.
Another forum member went to their local library, and they helped them burn the CD.

Reason: Staples etc. and library
Glad that so many of you were able to use this fix, however, it didn't work for me. Followed the directions, car outside and running, removed the map dvd, inserted the "fix" cd-r, got the message that this was not a map dvd, waited for over a minute and nothing.

What brand of cd did you use? Other members have reported memorex works well. You could have a corrupt cd. Try a new one.

You did unzip the file before burning onto the cd-r didn't you?
I used a TDK on a Vista machine as my new laptop doesn't have a dvd/cd player. Anyway, I got another new disc and a third party cd burner and I was successful in getting it installed. I was hoping to get back my blanked out INFO button, but it didn't happen. Anyone got any suggestions on getting INFO back?

Is it gone or just grayed out? Mined used to do that once in a blue moon. I thought it was dependent on whether that radio station is broadcasting info. On your radio it does it all the time and on every radio station?

You need to set your RDS to "On". Info allows you to display RDS info when it is turned on. Otherwise it will grey out. If you disconnected your radio, you probably reset to factory which is off. You can read up on RDS here in the Nav Unit manual, Page 89:

I'm glad to get the unit working again, but there's one negative aspect. No more map updates. The last disc is going on 4 years, and I've noticed that programming destinations in, it's starting to not know street names, address and numbers, because of new road construction. I still have to supplement it with Google map on my phone! No big deal, as the car is not DD, and I like keeping it factory stock.
Well I can not get my disk to load.
The screen never moves forward form the "Disk is not a nav disk" error message.
I too think I need a properly downloaded file on a proper disk.
Current Windows 10 no Winzip software.
1) Have CDR disk.
2) Downloaded zip file to laptop … indicates the proper size.
3) From download extract files...show proper file size.
4) Drag extracted files to CD drive.
5) Computer indicates CD needs to be formatted as it can't be read.
6) Format disk using mouse menu.
7) Redrag files to CD drive
8) Use top menu to burn too disk.
9) Disk shows "Loading File Name" only and size seems correct.
The file will not update into the Nav.
Above procedure is from my memory no itemized as I do the procedure...maybe a step is loft out.
I've never had much luck in burning CD's using the windows programs. I always use either Nero Express (which I did for this file) or IMBURN.
Both are free downloads.
Insert empty CD-R disc in burner
For Nero express, open the program, click on "data burning" button, then click on "+ add" button to find your file that you extracted (LOADING.KWI) which will add it to Nero , then hit "BURN"
I used a Verbatim or Memorex CD-R as I know that these work for me. I've used generic ones, Staples, etc. and they don't always work.
