2011s are not affected. It only affects the nav units that don't have the additional input in the back of the unit to support USB in the center console. I have a 2011 nav unit in my 2008 and never lost the clock. I've had to disconnect my battery several times too.
Well I can not get my disk to load.
The screen never moves forward form the "Disk is not a nav disk" error message.
I too think I need a properly downloaded file on a proper disk.
Current Windows 10 no Winzip software.
1) Have CDR disk.
2) Downloaded zip file to laptop … indicates the proper size.
3) From download extract files...show proper file size.
4) Drag extracted files to CD drive.
5) Computer indicates CD needs to be formatted as it can't be read.
6) Format disk using mouse menu.
7) Redrag files to CD drive
8) Use top menu to burn too disk.
9) Disk shows "Loading File Name" only and size seems correct.
The file will not update into the Nav.
Above procedure is from my memory no itemized as I do the procedure...maybe a step is loft out.
Any comments on what I am doing wrong?
Make sure you are putting the file itself on the disk and not the folder. The file should be around 11.8 MB unzipped and should be named Loading.kwi.
Thanks for all the advice.
Nero Express, well also needs to be unzipped, LOL, which I think is the main issue for me.
Maybe it is the Nav unit itself, although I have had it disassembled and cleaned of dust a few years ago.
I am using Sony 700 MB CD-R.
I reformatted the disk I was using and reburned it with Windows, it shows just the 11,104 kb KWI file, no folder.
Will try again in a day or two.
Thanks for all the advice.

I use Verbatim CD's and it never asks me to format the CD before burning.
Kenny, PM me your E-mail and I'll share the downloaded LOADING.KWI already unzipped. You just have to copy it to your desktop and burn it.
That way you will know that it is unzipped.
Thanks for all the advice.

You can't reformat a CD-R disc, you would need a CD-RW to do that!
How to
1. Get a CD-RW disk and insert it into the DVD/CD drive.
2. Win 10 may give you this menu.
3. Click NEXT, then select the DVD/CD drive and select Erase Disc
Select Next
Erasing
4. Go to the directory that you unzipped the update file to and the file/files you want to burn to the disk. Now drag
them to the DVD/CD drive and drop them there.
Note - I made a copy of the instructions as a Text file.
5. Select the DVD/CD and select the Burn to disc
5. Enter a CD label and select NEXT
Disc burn screen
6. Your done and now you can go out to the car and do the install.
You need to set your RDS to "On". Info allows you to display RDS info when it is turned on. Otherwise it will grey out. If you disconnected your radio, you probably reset to factory which is off. You can read up on RDS here in the Nav Unit manual, Page 89:
Burned a CD with the native Windows 10 burner. Everything looked good until the end, when I never got the "Preparing to load System Software" message. Burned again with Express Burn from https://download.cnet.com/Express-Bu...-75219417.html and all worked perfectly. I never would have thought the Windows burner would be an issue. Of course I never would have thought putting a Kiwi file on a CD and stuffing into the DVD slot would do anything either.
Anyone else willing to send me their disc so I can get my clock back? 2095 C6. Clock-less for two weeks now. Semi-computer illiterate. And my laptop at work does not have a CD drive. PM if interested in sharing. Thx!

This is a shot in the dark, but what are the chances this makes my XM buttons reappear? I am pretty sure I may have a faulty XM module, but I haven't gotten around to ordering a new one (I'd rather just get a new headunit). But assuming the XM module isn't faulty, I always wondered if the lack of navigation/clock had anything to do with me missing my XM buttons...
I did the update today. The clock now works. The hardest part was burning the cd.
Thanks to the member that created the file.
Also thanks to oemtech for the above post showing in detail how to burn the cd.

Do not Format the CD. When you do this it is setting it up for read and write access. Windows is trying to set it up to act as a mounted disk. Say no to formatting and just burn the file direct. If it asks you how you want the disk used, like a USB or a CD. Select CD. Operating systems do a lot of things to make our lives easy, this includes file management. They hide many of the steps we used to have to do manually and make things appear the same. I forgot this while fixing my radio and initially tried using a DVD RW. It did not work. then I remembered that DVDs have a specific format. In the case of the NAV head unit, it interprets a DVD disk as a map disk. It does not look for the file. When you load a CD, it is not looking for a windows formatted drive, it is looking only for a specific file type.
Anyway,
I hope this helps. Burn it to CD with out formatting, close it as one time use (Non USB or read writeable)
Thanks everyone! This drove me nuts not having a clock in my car. Mine is working great!
the funny thing is I was on crutchfield to buy a radio and was sure what would be best so I was looking on forum to see what people said about different radios. But the first thing I found was this post. I had to try it a couple of times but I got my clock back. So I cancelled the new radio, oh well!
thanks everyone especially the people that made this file.
Worked perfect. Many thanks. If anyone is having issues and would like my disc let me know. I just ask you pay if forward to anyone having trouble making a disc.
