I wondered the same as to whether it's a permanent fix or not. I guess I'll just keep the CD in my auto files in case I have to use it again.
Didn't you read my last post before yours? I had my battery replaced several days ago, and the clock worked fine after. It doesn't hurt to keep the disc, but it looks permanent.
I got the clock fix cd today and installed......worked great! Thank you to forum member Underachieved for sending me the cd........as promised, I’m gonna pay it forward.....if anyone is needing the CD, please PM and I will send it to you.....I’m gonna be out of town all next week, so it’ll be the week after before I can mail it out.
I will add, if that after you do the update and have reinstalled you map cd......if you notice the gps box with the red slash thru it is on the screen....simply shut off the car and then start it up again.
Had to replace the battery last week and lost the clock on splash screen. After 3 attempts at downloading the FILE the CORRECT way it worked like a charm!
Finally got it figured out and unzipped to root file, and Win 10 was able to burn to CD... Cautious and a bit skeptical, got the car out in the open. Left car running and followed procedure. When it was done (the Chevy logo on screen), took that CD out, put back map disk and did not see the clock. Pushed the NAV button (no flag on GPS) then source button, and I'll be. FIXED! Only had to adjust for 1 hr DST.
I downloaded the KWI file a couple of times on different CD-R and CD-RW but could not get the radio to start the load from the MAP DVD slot. I have a 2007 C6
I could not get the KWI file to load on my 2007 C6. Tried multiple discs both CD-RW and CD-R.
Make sure to follow the steps properly as described earlier.
After downloading original link (extract or unzip) file, then double click that link & KWI will show then download that onto disk & you should be good to go.

If all of the CDs that you tried were burned with the same burner, then try using a different burner. Not all burners produce CDs that can be universally read in other systems.
If no joy there, try downloading the file again. Data corruption can and does happen on downloads, ever though it's not 'supposed' to.
And, you are unzipping the download first, right?
Hi... I also need the CD to complete this fix. Can you please send me one? I'm very low-tech on this stuff. Not sure how to do a PM either. I guess that's a personal message?
Thanks a million!

I replaced the OEM POS nav with a non-nav Kenwood with Apple CarPlay and use Waze or Google Maps for navigation. However, I will subscribe to this thread for the next owner after I reinstall the OEM HU.
