I just did it and it works perfectly. My 2008's battery wouldn't start the car last week and again this week so I got a new Yellow top. I pulled the battery earlier and went to get the new one. I did this as I was on here yesterday checking battery options and happened to see the title of this post. I did not read it then and thought it was already tried and true, read it today and decided to go for it and as I said it worked perfectly.
Step 3.5
One thing not in the instructions is that when you insert the software update disc, close the screen back up and then the screen says "Not a map DVD" just ignore it and it will do it's thing.
Well I can not get my disk to load.
The screen never moves forward form the "Disk is not a nav disk" error message.
I too think I need a properly downloaded file on a proper disk.
Current Windows 10 no Winzip software.
1) Have CDR disk.
2) Downloaded zip file to laptop … indicates the proper size.
3) From download extract files...show proper file size.
4) Drag extracted files to CD drive.
5) Computer indicates CD needs to be formatted as it can't be read.
6) Format disk using mouse menu.
7) Redrag files to CD drive
8) Use top menu to burn too disk.
9) Disk shows "Loading File Name" only and size seems correct.
The file will not update into the Nav.
Above procedure is from my memory no itemized as I do the procedure...maybe a step is loft out.
Any comments on what I am doing wrong?

Both are free downloads.
Insert empty CD-R disc in burner
For Nero express, open the program, click on "data burning" button, then click on "+ add" button to find your file that you extracted (LOADING.KWI) which will add it to Nero , then hit "BURN"
I used a Verbatim or Memorex CD-R as I know that these work for me. I've used generic ones, Staples, etc. and they don't always work.
Good luck
The Windows 10 issue is REAL! I've been using computers since 1981 - a Radio Shack TRS 80 that I programmed every time I used it with a cassette deck. I was beginning to think that I had lost my mind.
I thought I had the disc burned using Windows 10 three times. I even checked the disc and the file showed that it had burned. I kept getting the same error message that Kenny had been getting. I had all but given up until I scrolled down this page to see if anyone else had this problem and saw 4SUMERZ's post.
I downloaded Nero Express. I then followed 4SUMERZ's instructions to the letter. The disc burned, confirmed that it had burned, and I took the disc back out to my car (for the 4th time). I pulled the Map disc out, inserted the CD-R, and presto - worked like a charm. I now have my clock back. Thanks 4SUMERZ!!!
I will drop it in the mail Monday... Should be there by Tues/Wed as I live near Austin
Awesome thank you, if you’d like pm me the PayPal and I’ll send you some cash to cover the cost... again thank you, this no clock thing was really annoying me.

First, i'm sorry i doubted. Really am. When i lost my clock last spring, and after reading the whole thread (the long one !), i had given up on that clock. I was sure i was never going to see it on that screen !
So today, i was putting the Corvette away for the winter (Canada weather sucks !), i said, why not try it.....It will only cost me like 10 minutes of my time and less than a 1$ for a CD..... so i did. And to my great surprise, it worked ! It did. Like a charm.
Faith in GM or whoever did this restored ! Really happy about it. I would really like to thank the person who did this and the one who shared it. Much appreciated.
Also, i have a CD for a fellow Corvette Forum user to send. I'll will send it for free to whoever wants it. Will only charge S and H.
Marc
can you do this for me? I’ll pay for whatever you need. Thanks
I have the disk I received and will pass it forward as asked to either of you. I only have one so please pm your address and first one I get I’ll mail it out to you tomorrow morning. No cost, just as was done for me.
Worked for me! I used my Windows 10 laptop and Windows Explorer to extract the zip file and to burn the CD-R. I burned at 10x speed (the slowest one). It feels like it's still 2007!
Thank you to all who made this happen.
