Just installed the software update in my 2007 base. The display seems to be slightly different but my clock is back. Took longer to burn the disk than to install the update
So, I tired it, and it accepts the disc, then keeps saying the disc is the wrong type, and tells me to enter another over and over and over. Will NOT allow me to eject the disc. Unfortunately, I put the screen back up. Been trying for over an hour now. Help I'mn screwed. Tried disconnecting the battery even, and it just comes back in the same endless loop.
update
Got the disc to eject by holding power button down ands nav screen button eject. Then hit DVD eject, and voila- but still has a screen saying " CAUTION Cannot load System Software. Disk Type Incorrect. Please insert Correct System Disk
So- like an idiot, I put it in the CD side, and now it will not eject from there. Radio won't work, because it thinks it is updating, and just sits in a loop.

Reason: update
That does it- I'm putting in something decent that will work with my steering wheel buttons. Local shop says they have one for less than 1k installed.
Before you invest the 1K, look for a small hole near the slot for the CD. Don't know if it exists on these systems, but most CD/DVD players have one. If so, straighten out a paper clip and push that into the hole. You would feel some resistance, but the hole is there for emergency release. The CD should pop out. I can't check myself because I'm 1400 miles from home. Worth a look on your part at least.
I don't know how to get it out of the cd side, the disc its asking for is the nav let it do its thing then put the your file disc in. the disc should only have the file you need on it
Extracted and burned file to CD-R. Inserted in DVD slot. Software update screen appeared and update completed in just a few minutes. I have a clock back. Hooray! Thanks to all involved in making my clock dream a reality.
A big thank you to everyone in this forum. I burned two disks on a portable disk drive that both didn't work. I finally dug out an old laptop and burnt a third CD-R. Happily this worked great.
A very big thank you to Paul Koerner for providing this downloadable file.
