Maybe then it's time to check out an automatic. I don't think I would like this, put it in reverse to turn off the car thing. It seems pretty stupid to me.
I'd rather use a key to start the car anyway. GM is acting like using a key is hard work or something. You still have to have the thing with you, so other than putting the key in the ignition and twitsting it, what do you save?
In 50 years of driving, never had to use rev before and never had any problems. So my question is why and besides reverse on the C5 is a bitch to get into.
Reverse is the safest gear to leave the car parked in. The reverse gear is square cut, the other gears are not and easier to slip out of.

I'm with you. Sounds like added complexity just to be different. Some more new tech (i.e. electronic column lock) to cause problems down the line.

Pretty much eliminates the chance of locking your key in the car.
No fumbling for your key (for those with big pockets or who keep their key in their purse.)
Scissors - we all know how passionate you are about this issue. But if this is why they are doing it, how come they didn't feel the need to have this "feature" on the C5's? And why does NO other car manufacturer force you to do this.
Did you not read what I posted? Saab has been doing it for a long time (don't know how long though), so at least 1 other manufacturer makes you do this.
I think it was Car and Driver reported that you cannot shut off the engine withoug putting it in reverse. This is to avoid shutting off by accident while moving and having the column lock. We'll just wait until someone actually has a C6 to know for sure.
I thought it would only shut off in Reverse. Where's the source on this? Where's that guy with the manual?
I want answers.
I think I'm entitled.
I want the TRUTH!
The guy with the manual said that you can turn off the engine in any gear, but that you must put the transmission into park to turn off ACC mode. There are warnings and chimes to let you know to do this (much like how the C5 chimes if you leave your key in the ignition.)
No word on if you can turn off the engine while moving and, if so, what the max speed is.

The Toyota Prius uses this keyless technology too. I'm still not happy about it.
What happens if you leave the FOB in the car and walk away, can someone else get in your car or does the car let you know?
I still would like to know the reason GM picked reverse to turn off the manual trans power. It it more natural for a person to put the car in 1st after shutting down the engine because it usually is in 1st at that time.
I'm confused as to why you have to leave the car in reverse with the 6 speed on the new C6 keyless start system. I mean, why reverse? That will be so hard to get used to.
Another annoyance brought to you by the same people that did the ugly XM antenna, the OnStar brick, the nasty front plate holder, and the steering wheel that looks like a headless Pillsbury doughboy.
I have laugh when they say they listened to people's complaints and made the car better. Hope they are listening to this in time to do something for next year's Z06.
