Hey - I have an idea - let's throw a Kenne Bell twin screw on top!

These are number that I obtained on my C-6

My cam specs are 224/230 581/592 114 lsa

These numbers are speculations based on my mods which would certainly be applicable to the 427.

The porting of my heads resulted in another 30 rwhp

$8800 Total cost

My head and cam package plus headers and tuning netted me just over 100 rwhp.
I disagree, the Z06 cam is really mild. The LG cams have been giving the LS2 HUGE gains. I would expect another 30-40%, since the heads are so good and the lift can be much higher.

LG gets 100bhp just from a cam on a stock C5 Z06 + 30 more with AFR heads. 21st is getting 555bhp with cam and heads on an LS2.

88.6 hp / L = LG Cam and Heads (LS1)
92.5 hp / L = 21st (ls2)

So we know the heads are not an immediate restriction. I would expect the aftermarket to get to 92 hp / L for something that could be driven daily. And keep in mind bigger motors are easier on larger cams.

7.0 * 92.5 hp / L => 647 bhp

I think that is the best way to estimate the potential of this engine. That number is inline with most aftermarket 427's that are streetable.

I think the Ls7 will see very close to that with just a cam and headers.

The cams that you are referring to are not streetable. The cam from LG that you mentioned is the G-5X3 series. The duration is so high they don't publish it and the lift is 600/610 on 112 lsa. These are drag strip cams, not for street and certainly not for the street guy. 21st is doing the same thing, advertising huge cams that produce big hp but very unrealistic, great marketing, bad idea for the average Joe and his street car.

Sure, the 427 will take the larger cam, but it gets to the point where it no longer makes sense for the daily driver. Been there, done that.

Bigger is not always better.

Can't comment on the cams you mentioned, but I've been running 240o/244o @ .050, 608"/.612" lift, 114LS cam in my stroker for like 4 years now and it's perfectly fine for the street. I think you could run even bigger in daily driver...

Unless you're totaly **** about every little thing like little car shake or idle being a few hundred rpm higher than stock (975rpm for me)
