Cooling Update

85F outside right now. Drive to work and on an errand and oil temp and water temp hit 180 and just stuck there. Suppose to be mid 80s all week, with a few days only in the 70s, so have to wait for it to get hot. This awesome weather is ruining my testing.

That's good you mention it.....
their AC didn't work or the car overheated on summer days.
Making some smart changes to the car's cooling and oil cooler system usually work....
But, for those reasons we prefer PD blowers so that everyone drives around on hot days with no special cooling
effort..... Even the bigger builds with PD blowers never seem to have any problems....
What I have to say isn't going to sway and centri customer, but those considering adding a blower will
usually think twice before they buy. All 3 of GM's superchars use PD blowers and liquid to air intercoolers....
Because they are problem free and no worries on hot days w/ 100,000 service interval...
If you're prepared and willing to monkey with stuff.... ALL GOOD.
If you want trouble free operation and reliability....
Than you go PD.

From a cooling stand point, I don't think it is even worth it on a c6. Still limited by the bumper. Just opening up room that is limited before. It does allow you do run a larger intercooler, or move stuff, but actually opening it up in my experience doesn't do much of anything.

All I have to add to this is that if you're dealing with the cooling issues, check your radiator fan plugs... they might be burning out like mine did. I bypassed the plugs and the fan is back to working like normal and keeping the car in the 180s-190s even in 90s texas heat.

That is always a great thing to check, assuming you have a factory setup.
I haven't had factory radiator fan plug or ECU controlled fan for years. My plug is in another state somewhere or another car.

looks awesome. amazing how this car game can nickel and dime you on random fittings and stuff. except instead of nickel and dime it's benjamins and $500 chunks.

Yep. Was 93F according to the car this afternon. Didn't even break 200 on way home with AC on full blast. So far so good. I had an oil cooler before, but it was stacked with the radiator/etc. It didn't help. Now with this one off to the side, not sharing airflow with the radiator, it makes a big difference so far. Oil temps never went over 196F.

Unreal, great to hear it's working for you! Maybe get it tona road course and see if it will stay cool. If you are still struggling you could always stack another cooler behind that one? Have seen lots of OEM secondary rads doing this. Or could you fit another on the other side (charge piping in the way?)?

No room for a 2nd stacked one because of the fan on it.
Could fit one on other side, but I'm done. I'm surprised I even spent what I did on this.

There is room on both sides. I have the same setup, one side for engine oil, other side is transmission. It seems Nicks car is doing fine now and no need for second cooler.

Plus the $700+ to add a second oil cooler, ick. Plus the long lines/etc.
Charge pipe is sucked in far enough that it wouldn't interfere, but the BOVs would be blowing hot air on the cooler so that wouldn't be good.
We are having this weird mid May cool down. Was in the 50s this morning. Had to put on coat. Won't get into the 90s until at least next week, with no sign of 100s any time soon.
As for road course work, I've put 20k+ miles on a road course, and I'll take my road course appropriate vehicle if I want to do road course stuff.

So you have the Amazon cooler setup (with the fan) off to the side behind the fog light? Did you just remove the fog light assembly? I'm thinking about doing something to help mine. Do I just plug up the radiator places for oil or trans cooling or do I need to get a radiator that doesn't have that feature to get the benefit?
Great info in here!

I bought it off amazon because I had a gift card, but summit/jegs/etc all sell same B&M cooler setup.
Had to remove foglight and trim some stuff in there.
I haven't had a stock radiator in 6+ years, or one with an oil cooler in 5+ years. You could plug it, or get a new one. Getting a new radiator I would do way before stuff like this.

I was driving around today and noticed that both my oil and coolant temps are settling around 190-200 when driving around. Around 70 degree ambient temp. This is with A&A supercharger and oil/EOC/TOC in a customer Griffin radiator provided by A&A with the kit. Is EOC and ECT supposed to equalize after 30-40 minutes of driving?

Depends on setup. With the radiator EOC they should be close, since they are sharing cooling.

In my case, they are sharing... Engine Oil temps slowly work up from 170-190/200 during driving and the Engine Cooling temps get to 170 really fast and then slowly creep to 180 and then stabilize within less than 5 degrees of the Oil temps. I'm seeing about 120-130 degrees above ambient thus far, but definitely not happy with the stock radiator fan setup. I'd love the D3 setup, but with my slightly cut down Griffin radiator, I cant fit it without some serious mods. What is the next best thing? Saw something about a large single setup and some sealing around the shroud?

Stock fans are pretty damn good, and your temps are just about perfect.
You can do a spal 17" for ~$600+ but I don't know if it cools better than stock.

How come no one wants to place a small fan on intercooler or heat exchanger? Or squeeze one onto condensor?
Thats my plan if I can ever get my car to charge properly again....
Never ends
Unreal Im looking to try that 17" fan if I cant keep these dual spals due to the high draw. Does it come with a shroud or did you use it oem style?
