Some of the many questions answered before I hop on a plane Saturday....for the ones that asked here are the answers:
1-Yes I want a Florida vacation and for the reasons you wnat me there Joe.
2-The patch peice is now the strongest part of the manifold and will not break or leak. I used this adhesive on the air cleaner assembly in my car and it is impossible to get the 2 parts separated once they are glued. The rest of the manifold will break or leak before the patched part does. 3 years strong there.
3-The MAP is held in as it is on the LS1 and stock FAST. It is pressure fit but uinlike the FAST hole which makes everyone nervous leaving the MAP so loose, I drilled a smaller hole for a tight fit. The manifold has a vacuum in it and thus pulls the MAP into it and not pushing out unless there is a backfire from nitrous.
4-The material is plastic no different from what the manifold is made of. It is reinforced inside with a thick layer of the adhesive so it isnt going anywhere. To get it off, it will have to be cut. It remains somewhat rubbery and not hard like crazy glue so it will withstand the vibration of being in the hostile envirnment without cracking. It is also heat resistant as tested for 3 years on my air intake assembly which never came apart.
5-I will do these for free for others when time permits as long as you make a donation to ST Judes hospital. Keep in mind how much time and money is saved when you come up with an amount. I dont pay for supplies/parts. There may be an issue with some tuners that do this type of work and that may shut this offer down since they pay to offer this service. Craig is a supporting vendor and may serve as an outlet to make the offer legit through him. Its for the kids.
If anyone doenst trust my work and wants a great source as an option, I know LG has done this too but I havent seen his version but I know it works fine. Call LG for info/pricing. I also know Cartek can fabricate anything so they are an option too if you want to use their heads and have a port match that works with 4x heads to put your car in the 10's on the stock bottom end.

Yes it does make a hollow huming sound (more exotic.) And the engine sounds really cool when you down shift, like a burble from the intake. I like it. Hey lets face it, whenever you add power and increase in airflow slight increase in decibles becomes a minor factor (In the Fast 90 case, a great feature.) who cares my beast is a high powered sports car, that screams performance. I don't always drive it, and by no means a garage queen either. There is a give and take when it comes to performance. With a supercharger you have to deal with the whine, some people think it sounds cool others prefer the quiet and stealth mode.

It does not amplify the valve train noise, it erases it since the huming sound takes over, and I have dual springs when I did the cam swap. Hey all high hp sports cars, have some engine and exhaust noise. The customer that you are referring to that had the Fast 90 removed wasn't a true sports car enthusiast, the hollow huming sound isn't that bad, my guess is 85% will love the Fast 90 and 15% will not, which one are you?

This one is being very anally over-emphasized. The FAST doesnt make enough noise to be that noticed. Cameron is nit-picking. I am the type of guy (Guy) that would never drop a dime for ANY exhaust, yet the FAST didnt make enough noise to bother me. Cameron is therefore the 15% that would say something. Rocker arms make more noise than the manifold and an XER cam is way more annoying. He made his comment when the hood was open and then listened for it when it was closed. If the hood was closed, he wouldnt have noticed. With the hood closed, I doubt most would pick up on it. After getting headers the thinner metal makes the same noise on the exhaust side compared to iron manifolds.
Also his is way louder than mine was. I think the cold air intake he has is a contributing factor.
Its a minor issue at best. If you want annoying, get a S/C or a Turbo system. The wistle will drive you crazy after 10 minutes if this manifold bothers you by comparrison.
If you want an electric car sound then may I suggest a golf cart?
Well with the cheatr cam I want to install, there are some pretty agressive lobes. If Spin still thinks its still in the 85%ile with that cam profile, then thats good enough for me. For instance the intake is 216* with a .635 lift!
I heard Miaugi's setup in Carlisle...FAST 90, Vararam, headers and OEM Z06 exhaust modded to work with a a C6. I did not hear any extra noise or volume from the valve train. There is a nice exotic sounding hum with the hood up, but I didnt hear anything with the hood down and when he reved it, all I heard was a great overall thunder clap of American Muscle.
Ok. I've been fighting the FAST for a long time. After long last you finally convinced me. I'm saving my nickels. Thanks very much for the time to write up and show us these pics.
Need a Florida vacation?
My sincere condolences on your loss.
Joe
p.s. now that I think of it...why didn't you post this before I went and put a cam in? I didn't realize it was that easy. I could have perhaps put a hurt on Dennis' 11.62 bolt on record run if I had the FAST!
I also have it on my C5Z and I love it too. Nice write up

This is how mine sounds, I don't know why Guy thought I was knit picking, I was actully complimenting the sound of the Fast 90, yes there is some sound to it at certain Rpms from the inside I can clearly hear it, will some think it's too loud maybe, do I? Nope love it. As mentioned by Spin, a lopey cam, supercharger ot turbo will sound louder than the Fast 90.
