Tommy, can you update me on the list..no new mods

I am really starting to believe that the 06 Z51 M6 that I had before really is better geared for the 1/4 mile, as the launches are much harder to master in this car. The 06 Z51, I could launch at 3500 and pull 1.7's all day long on the DR, and now, im launching at 48-5k rpm and still only getting 1.82's ...The car did get fairly consistent, as I ran 3 passes in the 12.1's, all with low 1.8xx 60' times. And no matter what time i ran (worst of 12.5 and best of 12.13 ) the trap speed was still in the 114.xx range. 1/8 mile MPH ranged from low of 90.39 to 91.22. This car is just not anywhere near as consistent as my 06. (both M6).

I did get a new best, but disappointed that I didnt match my 06's best numbers of a 12.04 with similar mods

Temp was 65deg, humidity hovered around ~35%, and the track just wasn't hooking for crap. Whatever, the DR's got it done, but barely. The 60' blows, but it was my first time ever launching with DR's. I only made 3 passes on them and they were all spin or bog. The run below was a bog, but still good enough for me to squeek into the next bracket.

08 1LT A6 Z51 - stock exhaust (without NPP)

 

Only four runs last night, just not good. I keep hearing this particular track is the slowest track around (both ET and mph). Not sure if that is said to justify slow or bad runs however. I'll attempt to put that theory to the test with runs at a different track tomorrow. As it is, beat my best by .0159 or so. A new best of 8.0090 vs 8.0249.

Even if by .00X each time :o Supposedly the track I'm going to tomorrow is much better. We'll see about that. It's just 95 miles away vs 35 miles. I thought with at least a 1.8x 60-ft I would have hit the 7's. My shifting must really suck.

 

What's your launch technique Bunk? We've discussed in the past but let's get some other opinions here...

I finally scanned the time slips from two weeks ago.

about 5 sec burnout B4 staging

Almost hooks up too good, as it bogs slightly affecting the 60's or maybe it's the timing getting pulled at the line until cooler air starts coming in after the launch.
The ink on the slips is so light the scanner barely picked it up, so here's the details.

Two other runs trying 1500 RPM pre-load that netted 12.46 each and bogged a little more. (the 60's were worse)

I think I've honed my driving consistency enough to start doing some mods next. I'll try a shroud prop tonight and add a tune next week.

 

Last night, that was my best launch, right around 4000rpm. Shifted near redline as well. I held off a bit right after the launch to avoid spinning. The track was going away on that run. Saw a C5 almost eat it right after my run. A C5 running only a cam. The track just sucked last night.

 

I finally got my 07 coupe out to the 1/4 mile track and I'd like to post the time.
Description:
07 LS2 Coupe
Auto - paddle shift, standard rear ratio
F-55 suspension
Factory tires @ 32 psi
Factory stock car - 3310 lbs with full fuel
T/C - off

I was experimenting with 89 octane gas on the 1st run, then added 10 gal. of 93 octane (about 91.5 octane mixed) for the last run.
The 89 oct feels MUCH better in around town driving, giving more power and better response. After adding the 93 oct, the air temp was 15 degrees higher and the 10 gals added 70 pounds to the car. The ET and MPH were about the same. I'm going to conclude that the higher octane fuel allowed for slightly higher HP at high RPM, although it feels doggy at lower RPMs.
BTW - Very little, or no, wheel spin. 60' times not too bad. Traction control off.

 

Please disregard the MPH numbers in my earlier post #2486. I went to the track last night and found that the right lane showed consistantly higher MPH numbers than the left lane. It was true for my car and for everyone else that ran in both lanes that I talked to. They were generally 2 MPH faster in the 1/4 in the right lane with all other numbers, including the 1/8 MPH, nearly identical to the left.

My previous best MPH in the left lane was 115.354 which also tends to align much better with the others on the showroom stock list. As much as I'd like to believe, and brag about, the higher numbers, they simply aren't true.
