MGW: Shifter or Flagpole?

Man I love the shift **** 6th gear F---k-n Fast
(too cool) if I change my callaway which I purchased two months ago to the MGW 35% throw, it would be because of that **** period. Quality written all over MGW. My callaway is nice real nice, but I would have liked to have that 35% throw and that awesome ****.

George your product can take it because it is by far, the best shifter, let alone bargain I have ever touched. I have tried a few.
The shifter really grew on me today. The joke of its height is far exaggerated and in a discussion with Craig today while stopping to say "AHHHH" at each and every shift-click, I was so happy with the purchase. I kind of go far but in my circle, everyone will vouch, that I brag about your product here all the time. For fear that people dont see the statements at this point are in jest, I am writing my true opinion here: GET THIS SHIFTER. It is so fun to drive. It takes away the cheap feel the car comes with that reminds you at times that it is a GM product. We were actually discussing the fact that such a shifter adding 150 bucks to the cost of a corvette would have magazine reviewers raving on build quality in a corvette drive review. I am actually confident that I wont wever miss a 2-3 shift and a 5-4 downshift for passing. The transmission never had an issue getting into 1st or reverse. These shift positions are undoubtedly from not have the shifter linkage aligned properly when you tighten downt he 4 side bolts and since I didnt do it the last 2 times, I get to say that its right now since I did it, but the shifter definitly has something to do with accuracy. Before you take the stocker off, turn the thing in a circe while it is in gear. Note the size of the circle it can sweep. After the swap doing the same will tell the whole story.
I do have to take it back apart though. I didnt do anything with the bottom plastic part that rattles around a bit. I have to put grease or RTV on it. There werent any instructions in my box so i am guessing it has to do with the black RTV that was included. Anyone know how to handle that issue? The rest of the thing is built so well I cant see it rattling anytime in the next millenium.
The thing is over built and its strength is impressive to me...rare. The only screw up you made was not pricing it according to the competition. One person askeed me: "If it is so good, why is it the cheapest one?" I dont know Scott.
Better, George? Am I off you hate list?

the rtv silicone is actually to mount the shifter to the car in case the gasket that was on the car is messed up or comes off.
the black plastic cup is truly the problem and i am working on a fix for that too. i am contemplating making my own pivot cups that are much tighter tolerance than the factory piece. if i succeed the price of the shifter will probably go up a bit but it will be included in the shifter kit which will be well worth it.
we are the cheapest shifter mainly due to the fact that we do not sell thru dealers. we are only a direct to the cusotmer manufacturer so there is no dealer tier.

george
I'll tighten it down a little more tonight. Either way this product is top notch. If you need help with the Corvette section of MGW website I'm sure we all have enough info and pictures to make it bad azz.

I think the shifter is the best one i have tried and its been a few. The rattle I speak of isnt a quality I havent heard on the car before. it was there with the stock shifter because its from the black plastic piece that is common to all shifters. I will use a heavy grease on it and I'm sure it will aleviate the issue. If you think the same black part used on another shifter isnt going to make the same sound, I dont follow the logic.
I was joking and I am not changing shifters. There isnt a solution to the minor issue I brought up. The shifter is so silent in operation it points to any other sound because of it. The issue is MINOR.
To answer the most common questions:
1- yes the shifter is a higher effort than the stock one. Thats because its a tight tolerance build. If it were sloppy and easy effort you would have a stock shifter.
2- no the height doesnt feel artificial or look strange. Its was a bit taller
3- I dont use the stock handle or the aftermarket ball they seel, I use a custom t-handle that screws into the base of the top 1/2 of the shifter making mine shorter and even higher effort.
4- This shifter isnt any harder to live with than any other aftermarket shifter. The tightness of the shifts is in line with the callaway and the Ripper. It is very reminisant of the Kirban shifter I had in my
C5.
If you want a honda S2000 transmission shift this has the accuracy but its a tighter shifter. Otherwise buy a honda. The last comparrison is that it is easier to get into reverse than the callaway was when I tried the one. I dont know if that was alleviated on that shifter but this one is softer than that.
Please dont ask me about shifter *****; I dont use a ball nor have I tried one on this shifter other than the stock one so I cant compare. I could live with the stock one at the 1 12/ higher than stock height. It doesnt bother me. A shorter one willbe more effort to a degree and I dont mind that either.

I'll gladly pay extra for more noise reduction.
Tom
so, this might be an option for me. is this shifter hard to get into first gear from neutral like the b&m ripper??? if not ill buy it
if it does i guess ill have to go back to the ripper
. ops im in the wrong section, i have a c5, not a c6. i dont know if theres any differences or not. on a side note i was thinking of getting a new z06 and keep the c5, but the stupid viper is in the back of my head. so i might buy that instead. time to toss the coin

Before I take the console apart and grease the plastic piece, I just want to make sure that's what is causing the problem. It took me a while the first time to take apart the console the first time.
