Looks like it's caused by the plastic piece call the cup on the bottom of the shifter. Before I take the console apart and grease the plastic piece, I just want to make sure that's what is causing the problem. It took me a while the first time to take apart the console the first time.

Spin i believe was being a bit overly dramatic about the height but still 1 1/2 inches is too much
sooo...

i am making some new stock unthreaded shafts that are an inch and a half lower and problem solved. i will have them ready in a week. anybody that already got the shifter and does not like the hegiht on the stock c6 **** will be getting the new bracket free.

this only applies to the stock c6 ****. the shaft handle for the threaded shaft is just fine.

in fact it looks awesome in the new 2008 interior with the chrome bezel ring on the top of the oem boot. our gripper **** seats inside it PERFECTLY!!! look at the pic below!!!!

so in a nutshell it was basically a miscalculation on the shaft hegiht when making the oem shaft. i did not even think that the oem **** had so much area above the hole in the ****.

OUR billet ***** are threaded so close to the top of the **** that it sits alot lower.

so do not worry guys, if you want to use your stock **** and maintain the stock height i will have it all worked out by end of the week. and again anybody that received the stock **** handle last week WILL be getting a new shaft to lower it to stock height. and do not worry about the force i tried one today and it is just fine to shift.

regards
george
Spoke to George this afternoon. He told me anybody that received the stock **** handle last week WILL be getting a new shaft to lower it to stock height.

Great customer service George

Default Just talked to George at MGW...

I received my 25% stock grip shifter today - sure looks nice.

Called George at MGW because I didn't want to have to install twice due to the tall stock shifter.

Great guy - said they will be sending the shorter shifters at no charge as soon as they come back from being plated.

Thanks to a great vendor and to the CF for all the great info.

Cheers - Jim

I really like the factory C6Z shifter and have no plans to change....but I have dealt with George before in my mustang days (bought a shifter **** for the bullitt I had at the time) and he does top notch work. Great service as well.

Is it possible to see any pics? Preferrably with the stock C6 **** on it. I plan on a shorter throw shifter for my '08, but want to retain the stock appearance by using the stock shifter ****. I was thinking along the lines of a Hurst billet plus shifter but I see so many good things about the MGW I might want to get it myself.

I guess I'm missing something. I just went to the web-site, and can't find a listing for the shifter. How much is it, and what do ya'll mean by there being a 25% and 35% model?

thanks

Website is not set-up for Vettes yet, calling is the best option. Ask to speak to George and he can answer any questions.

25% & 35% represent the length of the shift throw, the 35% is the shortest throw, and George tells me it has been the most popular but I went with the 25% throw which is still about 25% less than stock. Pricing is $220 which includes a new insert for the bottom of the shifter.

You can get more details here.

I hope I get the cup too. The shifter makes the car feel so much more refined. I hate to get out of it.

Just received my new shifter shaft from MGW and it is a work of art. Took a few minutes to install and with the new off-set, it really has a great feel to it.

To save time swapping out the shafts, I just removed my shifter boot and was able to swap the shafts out in a few minutes.

George even included the new shifter cup he designed. I did not install it as I don't experience any rattle from the shifter. George is definitely a first class vendor and manufacture.

As mentioned in many of the other post, this shifter makes driving so much more enjoyable.

Judd

How does the boot fit and look with the new offset upper shaft?

My shift boot is not the OEM version, I have one of DSVettes custom boots and it fits fine. The new shaft is about the same height as OEM or maybe a little shorter. The offset really makes the shifter fun to use.
