shaving weight
No, it's a company that makes a series of small, lightweight batteries (although they might make some 'close to full size' versions as well) that can save some weight off the nose of a C6 (or the rear of a C6 Z06).
I wouldn't sit in the car with the radio on and the starter button in 'accessory mode' for too long if I had one of the small ones in there though.

I just ADDED 3 pounds to my Z06.
I removed the hatch latch that requires manual closing of the hatch and added an auto pull down latch. The manual latch weighs at least 3 pounds less than the auto pull down latch.
If you want to save those 3 pounds I'll swap you my manual latch for your auto pull down latch.
Let me know if you're interested.

LOVE THE TREAD i am looking at doing the same thing to my C6 Widebody i weighed it with about 3/4 of a tank of gas at 3150!!! I would like to get it down to under 3k with no driver. I plan on the smaller battery, changing seats, front PS2's, CCW wheels, BBK!!! and coilovers. I already have full exhaust and PS2's in the rear.
- 15lbs for battery
- 10'lbs for front tires
- 36lbs for coilovers
- 40lb BBK!!! Stoptech
- 40lbs for seat change (viper seats???)
- 8gal at 6lbs/gal = -48lbs maybe?
+ 50lbs for rollbar and harness?
Grand total = -139
Total weight = 3011!!!
Other options
- take out rear speakers cuz they suk and are weight hehe
- Sway bars do they reduce any weight?
Questions
- LT3 seat w/ power lumbar are 66lbs each!!!???
- How much does a roll bar and 2 harnesses weigh?
- What about light weight side mirrors, i am sure the stock ones are not light plus i hate how they hold water after a wash.

-Take out the passenger seat, and get one racing seat like this.

I picked this up for 250$ and it only wieghs about 9 lbs with rails.
-Get an aftermarket steering wheel.
-full exhaust
-take out a/c
-Light wieght rims help ALOT!
Thats your cheapest route.
I know the seats not in a vette, but it will be in a month when i buy mine

I recently replaced my OEM battery with a 15 lb Braille battery. Relocated to the trunk for better weight distribution. You don't have to swap out batteries on track days. The Braille battery works just fine. It's small and fits in the rear passenger compartment. It's small enough that you don't have to move any of the On Star electronics that is installed in the 08 C6 rear compartment. This saved about 20 lbs and re-distributed the weight.

I don't have any pictures of th On-Star electronics...But they are located in the rear passenger side compartment. Can't see any reason that you can't remove them. If your going to remove just to save weight, I think you would only save about 2 lbs.

Light wt seats, non leather, but nomex cloth race seats, with solid mounts, not sliding mounts, can save over 50 lbs from two seats,
remove speakers and stereo and CD players
take out carpet ( well maybe not)
light wt battery, but need to keep on tender when not in use
18" rims and non run flats tires. That can save almost the equivalent of 100 lbs
No bling under the hood. take out any chrome covers,
BBKs will weight more then stock brakes, but that is a trade off with better braking vs lighter rotors.
One can go over board to reduce wt vs street functionality too.
as in Lexon windows vs glass.
Carbon fiber body parts
take out windshield washer tank and fluid
take out insulation out of doors and under carpet
Or one could just stop eating at Micky Ds or Krispy Kreams too
Good Luck
Reducing weight is the best thing for a cars performance, for road racing. Braking, acc, turn in. My list would be battery, seats, wheels, tires, mats, engine covers, hood liner, speakers, sound insulation mats, rotors 2 pc, coilovers, non runflats, headers, lw cats, lw mufflers, on a z51 lt 1 man. that should get you under 3k. I think the published wieght of a lt1 mn6 is off a little and the auto, lt3 is the quoted weight gm uses, the vert. is obviously heaver. I had a lotus elise as my last track car, the light weight made it very forgiving on the track, and it was not distorying tires, pads, etc. A 2800 lbs corvette street legal with 436 hp would be a dream goal, I think a c6r is in the 2500lbs range.
Good start on the weight. I haven't done anything except LTs.
Formula car mirrors - less than 1 pound per pair but are tiny
Roll bar tubing (4130) 1.5 X .120 1.769 lb. per foot
1.750 X .095 1.679 lb. per foot.
Harnesses- About 4 lb. per set
Has anyone ever heard of these guys? http://www.racingbrake.com/Z51_FRONT...p/2068-311.htm
I searched around a found a thread where they show a digital scale weighing the stock Z51 rotors and the their new 2 piece rotors and verified that the weight savings was almost 4lbs per rotor. Didn't know if they had a quality reputation or not although it would appear they do based off their forums.

fwiw, I removed TONS of weight in my 2000 Saleen (200lbs total) and some of the stuff was not worth it. Keep in mind that changing to a racing seat, while it can save 30-40lbs, makes everyday driving completely different. I put a Corbeau CR1 in place of the stock leather seat, and then when I would drive the car at length, my lower back would start to ache. That was definitely not worth the .03 I may have gained in the 1/4 mile
Also, the racing seats are really not very adjustable, so keep that in mind, as well.
Remember that half of what makes our cars so enjoyable is that they successfully mix great power/speed with comfort and reliability. When you start messing with every aspect of the car, in pursuit of "improving" it, you generally do just the opposite.
take it from someone who's been there a time or two...Just think really hard before you whip out the credit card and start ordering every mod under the sun.
