A nice improvement. They stick out a little on c5 front rims though.
No. I'll be running my 28" slicks bc of gearing. It gets me to 144mph in 4th. I drove to the track and back home on Saturday on them. Hour there and hour back.

Congrats Andrew! I'm pretty sure my PM guess was 9.7x 1st time out, but didn't imagine it'd be on the 1st pass! You're a natural man and very in tune with the car! 1.4x has to feel like getting shot out of a cannon! The water hazard at Crandall is getting rediculous though and looking to run Ennis on 3/19, can you make it then?

Interesting to note his base trans 1st gear of 2.66 coupled with 4.10s and 28" tires is almost exactly the same overall gear ratio as a a z51 1st gear of 2.97 with 3.42s and 26" tires...

you did call a 9.7x. i honestly didn't think it would happen at all. i was hoping for a 9.99. it did feel like a cannon. i was at red light in 1st and was like "WTF, damn I already need to shift?" Haha. I thought 4.10s on motor was short. 4.10s and spray is ridiculous. Water hazard was better at night time. It felt great that pass. Doubt I can make it the 19th but I'll try. Plus I think Ennis will boot me off the track.

I have got to congratulate you on that, " and you drove Home". So many perhaps 99% of the Cars that track 9.xx are trailered in and raises the question is this a street machine ?. I remember when it took a "Funny Car"
to turn in the 9's IE Dave strickler ,Ronnie Sox and many more from the 60's & 70's. Keep up the good work, Leon

Thanks. I thought about buying a trailer but thought the same. They'll think it's a trailor queen. I drive it all the time when it is nice outside like it is today. I also forgot I took my buddy home also that night. So a little more than an hour there and back. I had my 28s and skinnies on for the ride and I had 2 26s tires/wheels in the car, nano and nitrous bottles, my buddy, car jack, wrenches, ect that night also. Hahahaha.

I will. He won't be in there this time. Contmplating selling my 26" mt et street bias plys with the oem gm c5z wheels. Prob just run 28s on motor and spray so I don't have to worry about two sets of rear wheels. If I think it is a mistake I can always redo my 26" setup.

More interesting to note is the 4th gear is exactly the same on both transmissions allowing the trap speed of 144 for either transmission which was my point.

C6DVL's car has 3.90's on top of the Z51 gearing and ran a 10.66 pass at 132 on a 26" tall tire suggesting that the Z51 gearing doesnt seem to be interfering with ET or trap speed as I suspect you are suggesting. In fact, I bet the 60' is better with the Z51 in set-ups like this. A6 cars with 3.42's not changing much in ET or MPH from what they did with 3.15's support this. The A6's final drive ratio in first gear w/3.42's is far more than the M6 base trans with 4.10's.

Why use the 4.10's and a taller sidewall over less gear and a shorter tire? Shock absorption.

. I'm guessing that a 28'' tire would help with shock absorption, consistency, handle more hp & tq, launch at a much higher rmp if desired. The 28 inch tire would probably work even better with more gear, again i'm only guessing and don't know for sure.

I'm suprised it was better at night since they shut it down the previous weekend when the sun went behind the clouds, that's why I didn't even want to go at night plus I was out of town...wish I could of been there to witness it in person, but looked like you had a better camera man lol...video is sick, must have watched it a dozen times and believe the 9.5 is in it!

I'm not suggesting anything, except that there's 2 ways to skin a cat sometimes...I notice that the fastest 6-speeds(9-sec cars ie Robz, Stonabones, Myhardtop, Linghenfelter, Rattg) all use the base gearing because of it's better spread I believe and once you get to the single digits (already cuttin 1.3/1.4 60') you've got enough power that you've got to practically be a machine with a stick to keep up! I'm not saying 9's can't happen with a z51 geared car, but I'm not familiar with any...unless you've run yours? The 28s definitely have more sidewall which isn't a bad thing with a stick, but watchin the video imo the rake of the car isn't ideal for weight transfer and the fact that he spun out of the hole allowing the nitrous to engage is what attributed to the 1.46 short time

I wonder if He will try it again, perhaps this SAT. I'm surprised he got a pair of tires in the back of his car when he drove to the Strip.

doubt i'll be going this saturday. waiting on my nano bottle to come back to me. plus i don't have to worry about riding with tires in the back anymore b/c i went ahead and sold my 26" rear setup to my buddy. hope i don't regret it. only reason i did it is i probably won't make too many more motor passes anyway. if i do regret it, i'll just build another 26" rear setup.

Thanks buddy!! Now where is my sponsorship? Or make me part of a new LG drag team when you start one up. My car is already modded so you won't have to spend much. Hahahaha. Sounds like a plan. What you think?
