I plan to do 1/4 mile track maybe monthly. I have ordered a Vararam and AR long tubes for my 2010 Grand Sport A6. I am considering Spin's suggested 224XFI/224XFI 115. I am curious as to what power increase I might expect and how it might drive without doing a stall. If it makes that much difference, I could go with a 3000 stall. It is my daily driver. Any comments or suggestions on that choice?
Your cai and long tubes are top choice! If I remember correctly, you could run Spins 230/234/114 cam with the 3000 stall for a bit more power. I (personally) would do a search on the LS3 A6 guys who run a 2800-3600 stall and I'm confident you will be suprised with the results.
I never installed a stall in my A6 since I know they "can" remove some of the snap from the throttle, but again, get some 1st hand feedback and better yet, find a member who has one and take the car for a ride.
If you enjoy going WOT from 40+ rolls, a stall is the way to go, no doubt. If I ever grab another A6, a stall will be the 1st thing I do. When I started my LS2 A6, I was looking for a cam to use with the stock stall and in the end, I realized how much of a difference a stall would have made after the H/C/FAST. I would have gone much larger than the cam I started with (226/235/115 IIRC) had I installed a 3000-3600 stall. Don't forget, IMHO
I am still considering the stall. I heard that Yank stopped making the 2800 due to it burning up too often (or something), so I would probably look for a 3000-3200. I would want something that gives me the most normal daily manners, but allow me a more aggressive cam. I've never actually driven a car with a higher stall converter, so it's hard to imagine what it feels like around town, parking lots, etc. just by reading descriptions. The descriptions are somewhat subjective.
