For those that have installed this...did the controller box display anything before you put the car in the on position or acc. Mode? Was it completely off until you put the car in the on position and held A and B?

Does this thing 'splice' into the OBD harness? If so it's gonna be interesting as I have an Escort Dashtronix Projector already in place.

No, only connection to vehicle is plug n play at accelerator harness.

Thanks. Arrived today. It will be interesting to compare it to the COW Booster and or additional boost parameters.

Received mine yesterday. Started installation today. I decided to go the ash tray route, although I'm putting mine where the lighter is since I've never used that plug and it provides a nice, flat mounting surface.

I removed the console, then the ashtray so I could wrestle with the lighter plug. Then used a dremel to cut a groove for the control module wire so it doesn't bind. Double side taped the module in the space and then put some insulation behind it to help protect from heat. Looks great.

I also have an AUTOBLiP installed, so am waiting for some 22/18 t-tap connectors to arrive (apparently no one sells these things in the metropolitan DC area) so I can hook it properly into the Vitesse unit. Figured I'd take care of the control module mount while I'm waiting.

Here are a couple of pics with the console out of the car.

Got half way through the setup. On second programming step where A button is held down and pedal is fully depressed I get Err. It does not read high sign and repeated attempts still the error... Err.

However, the display will show changes I make, so I can change to Sport or Economy, and increase of decrease the setting, but it does not effect the car. So far it nullifies the COW Booster, as well.

Wondering if anyone is using this with a supercharger ? ? Was thinking that the ECO mode might help with launching ..

Wow Crv! Great install! I'm still waiting for mine in the mail and I definitely don't like any kind of device stuck on the dash like an afterthought so your photos are inspiring. By the way, I get 18/22 T-taps from Radio Shack all the time. I'll have to look into that Autoblip and I really liked that on my 370Z although I'm pretty good at rev matching with my foot.

Funny anecdote but right after my post above, I went out to the mailbox and lo and behold...

Thanks. I too like to try to make my installs look as clean (or invisible) as possible. I've had the console out so many times for various reasons, I can take it out in less than 10 minutes, so wasn't a big deal for this.

Almost all of the Radio Shacks around me have closed in recent months. I also checked their website and put in about 20 different ways I could think of describing the t-taps and nothing came up, so I didn't consider driving out to the farther locations. Maybe I'll take a cruise tomorrow.

The AUTOBLiP works very well. I'm pretty proficient at heel-and-toe, but have big feet so it gets a little cramped in the foot well. So I put the AUTOBLiP in for times when I'd rather concentrate more on my line than whether or not I've got my foot in just the perfect spot so I have room to do a good heel-and-toe. I like having the choice to use it or not, just like this product. Good luck with your install.

Interesting question. If you are looking for a slower responding throttle, then I'd guess yes. The settings do not, I don't think, allow for feathering. By that I mean I suspect it is a linear map, based upon the percentage of the unopened/base throttle setting. If it could be mapped, then you could enter a non linear throttle mapping, which I suspect is what the COW Booster does, though once it is set by Chuck, it is set, unless you send it back to him. It'd be perfect if the COW Booster had a potentiometer of a sort, to allow for some fiddling about with the sensitivity.

Yes, I think completely off until power is turned on.

Exactly why I have an interest, although I'm NA. My discussion with the owner led me to believe it's a software version of a timer controlling a pot. For example, if I can stab the pedal to the max in .05 seconds, but the controller takes .5 seconds to smoothly move the throttle plate from 30% to 100% open at the ECO 5 setting, then I can get a better launch on a poorly prepped track. Maybe not those exact numbers, but that's the basic idea. I've experimented with pneumatics, which didn't work well. I was about to try hydraulics before going with the electronics route, so this unit might be the quicker answer.

this is kinda what I was thinking ,,, Cause I know im not going to get great traction in 1-3rd so was thinking that in eco it may help on the launch and through the gears a little....

Heck for the 187.00 its worth trying it out ...and if I don't like it, someone will buy it from me for a little discount....LOL

So I had emailed Ahmed about my setup not programming in step two. Here is the info he shared:

To program the gadget, press the starter button twice, which gets it into the higher voltage mode.

After doing step one, where both A and B buttons are pressed to set the low value...

then press the A button once, do not hold in. You should see an H value. Then press the pedal to the floor, and tap the A button again, which will 'set' the H value.

I had been holding the A button down while pressing the pedal to the floor, as I think the instructions say to do.

I will try this later. Perhaps someone can already confirm?

Yep, press A once and do not hold in....then floor it and press A again momentarily 'once' - that's why it's not programming.
Good luck!

Finished the install today. I tried a few different settings and the increased throttle response really enhances the driving experience. I hadn't realized there was so much throttle lag. For around town driving I settled on SP3, which I felt had the most balanced response.

It also worked seamlessly with the AUTOBLiP - in fact, the increased throttle response actually makes the unit work better since the blip signal routes through the throttle controller.

Given the features, design and plug and play ease of installation, I think this mod is a tremendous value.

That's great that the two compliment each other! Where did you put your Auto-blip module?

It's mounted in the console. Like the Vitesse unit in the ashtray, the location provides easy access for adjustment (there are delay and duration adjustments on the AUTOBLiP), but you can't see it unless you open the console lid.
