ok lets get the fact straight the current 05 c6 has a higher top speed than the z06 period the zo6 was 172 and the c6 is 186

next i could of bought a z06 for a lot less than my c6

the c6 is a much better and more refined ride though.

when the c6 z06 comes out next year nothing will be able to compete with it and i will probably trade in my c6 but to all you loosers that own a 04 zo6 or older get a life you suck! the fact is the new c6 is just as fast 0-60 and does have a higher top speed. oh and well did i mention that it looks way better! for all you competative *******s with a year old car you can get lost. Because of the c6 owners know that you guys feel inferior , and for good reason.

I drove a like new '04 Z06 yesterday, back to back with my new C6 with 280 miles on it. Z51 6spd. The Z06 had around 4000 miles on it.
I previously had a '99 auto C5, and sold it 2 days before my '05 showed.
The Z06 felt downright old and soggy to sit in, compared to the '05. Somehow felt as old as my 6 year old C5. Esp crappy was the soft seat.
The clutch was bad, releasing it felt like some sort of restriction,(cable?) def not smooth, like the '05. Clutch pedal effort is higher. (Maybe this one was defective?)
Steering wheel not as nice a feel as the new one.
The Z06 interior is OK, feels old, tho. Of course just like my '99.
Tranny has harder and longer throw, and even more notchy. The throw was the big difference to me.
Power and handling seemed about the same, maybe not quite as tight, but def louder road and tire noise. The '05 has more torque at lower rpms, that's more easily felt with regular driving, as opposed to, pushing it, driving.
Just my 2 cents, as I never drove a Z06 before.

I'll meet you on the street in front of the local elementary school when school let's out and we'll see who's faster. I dare you to try and outrun my C5(and it's not a Z06).

The fact is the Z06 is a more capable car performance wise than a stock C6. Since I own a C6 I think I can speak to my own experiences. I think that at speeds up to 85-90 mph the most drivers will be more than satisfied with the handling and stability in just about any situation.

Any thing above triple-digit speeds you need to tred lightly and you better have a good idea what you are going to do because you might be allowed 1 correction if you make a mistake, but probably only 1 before you lose control. I have noticed that in a straight line at about 120-130 mph there is a lateral input at the rear of the car somewhat floaty for lack of a better term. Can I or will I add the equipment necessary to raise my stock c6's handling to a higher level so I can try to get my C6 to put up numbers like Z06monster's Z06. Probably not, I would get a Z06 next year. Did I expect my C6 to compete or exceed the Z06. No of course not. I bought my car for an altogether different reason, and I can accept that.

The bottom line is all of the C6 owners who have been "Butt hurt" by Z06 monsters comments need to get a life. If you don't like your car sell it. But don't try to argue a losing cause. The '06 Z06 is getting close.

It is only reasonable to expect a higher level of performance from the Z06 than the C6 IMHO.

You may be suprised to find I agree completely. Why? Well the Z06 is lighter has better rubber and based on what dyno runs are available equal rear wheel power. On paper it should be faster and in the real world it is just that. It is also tuned for maximum performance (at least as much as chevy was willing to give) and I would not be suprised if it has better high speed stability. I dont personally know because my test drive only went to 70mph. I have no problem with anyone saying their stock Z06 is a better performing car stock than a C6. I fully believe them. I take exception with someone saying that this is the only criteria and the Z06 is better. Period. This for several reasons. First is the simple fact that people have differing needs and desires and hence different criteria by which they are judging any particular vehicle. Secondly while many Z06 guys seem to think that a C6 owner should not bring up any of the imporvements to the car and only talk about performance they dont seem to use that same reasoning when comparing their cars to say a Viper. Then it turns into a "Yes its a little faster but the Z06 is so much better in the day to day slog." You cant have it both ways guys. Either your looking at the car as a whole or only performance and nothing else. Lastly if your talking about all out performance and damn the torpedoes then either car is going to end up at the same place after all the modding. There will still be someboody faster than both cars cause thats just the way it is. Another point is that I have not been on the Z06 pages or any other cars website bashing their cars. Why would I? Why do those some of those guys come over here and bash? I dont know to be honest. I dont mind critisism and I have several complaints of my own about this car. The trolling/bashing thing is another story. As I already said I should not have responded in the first place and certainly not when my irritation level at these trolls had reached a peak. To sum it up I am not"butt sore,"nor am I sorry whatsoever that I did not buy a Z and certainly have no intention of trading my car in on what I feel overall is less car. I will continue to not go over to Z06 pages and tell everyone why I think my car is better and that they are stupid if they dont agree with me.

and for the guy that wants to challenge me in his c5
i am flattered but am only interested in stock cars. I have no desire to race a tricked out c5. As was said before there will always be someone faster out there.

Well, I've got a C6, but some young dudes need to a little and realize that threads have been locked and posters have been given days off for less.

The point is this this: This is a forum and anyone getting upset about another members posts needs to get a little perspective.
I don't pretend to know why those who post need to post anything negative. But it doesn't really matter does it?

I like my stock C6 even with the problems it's had so far. I had a choice when I bought mine it was sitting next to a Wht/LO/LO vert. The C6 is everything I wanted and it is suits its specific purpose as much as I expected when I bought it.

Youth has long since passed in my case. Based on your posts you seem to be a level headed fellow and your point is well taken. Z06 monster was correct about one thing. I was stupid to respond to trolling and I am finished doing so. I think if you look at my post history you will see that I dont normally do so and try and remain repectful of opinions regardless of what my own take on the issue may be. For those who may have been offended, my apologies.

Hope you won't take this the wrong way, but I didn't think you were a young dude, crabman. I just didn't want to call any names. It was intended for someone else.

Junior members who might not be aware it's against forum policy to bash people instead of ideas. Just trying to help folks stay out of trouble.

I get kinda heated myself with the things that some others say about my C6.

These times are just sad. My 02 Formula with just exhaust and a lid ran a best of 8.38 at 86.6 mph. What was the elevation? The track I ran had elevation of 500 feet or so. My 60' was 2.09, not very good at all.
