I was talking to an old friend yesterday who I shared his loved "Top Fuel" experience with 10-years ago. He told me that the funny car record was 320MPH and the dragster was 332MPH at 1000ft. The funny cars were about that at 1/4 mile, but, those bad boys can afford to be inefficient.

Right! Performance! Just get the stuff in the car so we can take advantage of it (they will rate it with gas), greener!

Are you sure about greener? If the gas mileage goes down, you end up using more fuel, those cleaner advantages are not as green then. The only green you will see is the green leaving your wallet to pay for this fine solution.

And you get the performance! A cool C7 engine (+ tranny & diff) is good for performance, and GM's warranty.

You are a funny guy...

"Using ethanol as a vehicle fuel has measurable GHG emissions benefits compared with using gasoline. Carbon dioxide (CO2) released when ethanol is used in vehicles is offset by the CO2 captured when crops used to make the ethanol are grown. As a result, FFVs running on ethanol produce less net CO2 than conventional vehicles per mile traveled."

You do understand why R12 was replaced with R134 and what happens now, right? Are you familiar with MTBE? Who do you think pushes ethanol as fuel? Come on, you need to develop some analytical skills before falling for environmental and corn growers propaganda. Things are never that simple.

I worked for a gasoline refiner. We had to include alcohol by Federal Law. In my opinion it is just a welfare program for farmers. Under the cover of reducing dependence on foreign oil.
By the way the oil companies get subsidized as well but not for using corn squeezing. Also in my opinion there are very few citizens or companies that do not have a deal with Uncle Sam. This is a problem for both the left and right and not owned by just one side, which would make some people feel better.

Maybe GM didn't spill it at the Autoshow because they aren't even using it here for whatever reason (EPA)? Maybe the only reason it showed up with the RPO was because they are making Vettes to run on it for Australia, Brazil, and abroad? IF THAT IS THE CASE HOPEFULLY THEY WILL DO THE RING IN A C7 FROM ABROAD!

Personally I could give a crap about the greener qualities of it! It helps performance and I would love to have the ability to use it in my Turbo Vette part time!

I think you should do some research regarding alcohol as a fuel, including little things like why there is no E100 street fuel, air to fuel ratio differences and alcohol compatibiliy with aluminum, fiberglass, plastic and rubber (in spite of claiming flex fuel ability).

My best option is methanol injection which is said to be more toxic then ethanol, but, is actually pretty simple. If I had my so called E85 "FLEXPOWER" though it would be worth money not to have to deal with any of that.

And I have an understanding that alcohol cleans the motor nicely, and just for that reason alone is money in the bank, since, engines get slug and carbon buildup.

I like being set up to make points!

The overwhelming majority of us here do and will not be swayed by your relentless personal attacks on anyone who voices a positive opinion about the C7 based on what we know at this point.

What difference does it make to you if this guy can "actually afford" a new C7? Why would you need to know that? I could afford to pay cash for 20 of them at once. Does that make my opinions any more legit than any other members here?

The C7 is going to be a fantastic product whether you like it or not. Why don't you just get over it Pal.

I think I need to do more of what you do: thinking with my right foot. Beats reading lunacies like this one:

Sorry you didn't show me this before? But!

• Aluminum corrosion occurs (only) if liquid phase with an aggressive
combination of
- ethanol concentration - temperature
- water content - surface condition of metal
persists for a sufficient duration (incubation time) to initiate reactions

I guess that's why they can get away with an American LeMans using it? They aren't taking a bath in it they are burning it!

Hmmm, are you an attentive reader? The effects are INCREASED with higher content of alcohol, the effects are DECREASED with higher water content. Maybe you should try running on H2O instead? Now, stop wasting my time, comparing funny cars and LeMans to a street car.

This information has basically been out there. And it seems running a rich mixture on E85 like the ZR1 on gas would destroy the motor. But, why would anyone need to run 105 octane pig rich? And how much extra crap is a ZR1 really spewing out running that rich on gas at WOT, anyway? And I also read how using methanol injection through the supercharger messes up the vanes so yes the information has basically been out there! And maybe that is why GM didn't bring it up at the Autoshow as this data is pretty recent?

So basically you know about this information and argue anyway? Hmmm... Maybe you should understand the concept of stoichiometry and impact of type of fuel on the actual stoichiometric ratio? Beats arguing for argument's sake while the facts are not only out there but also easily obtainable.

There have been E85 STREET cars out there for a while now. Are they crumbling? Was GM stupid enough to allow them only to eat it? Why did someone dig up a RPO saying "E85 MAX"?

I didn't do the Engineering!
