It has enough top end, downforce, tires, cooling....power! Beating the Z06 there would be great for marketing!
The 3rd gen MR suspension and PTM will allow it to turn a faster lap than a Z06 (too bad we don't have a running start time for it), but probably not a Z07.
As we have been constantly informed by current C6Z06 owners.. we already know that no car will ever dethrone it. Including the 2045 C16! Even if it makes 1000hp, weight 2000lbs, gets 150mpg to the gallon and has an interior made of pure silk. The C6Z06 will be greater!

Icing on the cake for the Z51 C7 would be a quicker standing start time than the original LS7 ZO6 with its wider tires

I agree with you totally, especially the part I bolded. I own a 2007 Z06 & had the pleasure of driving a Z07 packaged car.....it would trounce mine on track; no ifs, ands,or buts about it. The MSRC & PTM make the Z07 a dream to drive. The vast majority of the lap times all the Z06 guys talk about were acheived with the Z06 w/the Z07 package. And how many Z06's were produced with that package? I'd guess no more than 10% max.

Sorry man to burst your bubble, but 90+ percent of the difference in on-track performance between a z07 and base z06 is TIRES, period. The base Goodyear s are absolutely horrendous. And yeah ive driven a carbon 2011. F55 does feel much better on the street for sure though.

It is almost all tire and some brake. MSRC is nice and offers an excellent combination of on road civility and track performance but no faster than an aftermarket setup (though ride quality won't be as good).

Keep dreaming, it will never happen unless GM fudges the results. And you actually do not know anything regarding the parameters you mentioned, thus, you can assume all you want.

Ah yes, the "I don't trust anything positive GM says about the C7" guy.

60% Stiffer then the Z07/ZR1, and something in the steering, as well!
The electronics compensated for the Z06's snap oversteer, and the ZR1's wrenching supercharger weight. I think the electronics, and the additional downforce, can also compensate for narrower tires. The metal brakes are stopping as fast as the ceramics, and metal is on the C6R!
Lets face it GM was sandbagging the E85 for something!

Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
