You don't have to do this on a cheap Kia or Subaru, why should you have to do it on Chevrolet's flagship car? Ridiculous quality control and/or craftsmanship.

Maybe they will upgrade the 2015 and provide a nice glove so you don't get dirt and hand oils on the finish when closing it.

Oh, yeah the glove will have a Vette emblem on it to match the luggage set.

i don't have mine yet but try bringing it down slowly and with maybe 2 inches before close, slam it shut, that way you're not trapping as much air as you would reefing it from all the way up top.

Also, for those that have commented about their hatch/trunk lid not sitting "flush"...note that there are adjuster stop at each corner. Just a slight turn will shim the lid either way.
Same for the hood.

That's because the Subaru and Kia probably aren't airtight.

The C7 has a built-in 'handle' like my '05 so you have something to grab from the inside when pulling down the hatch. If things worked as they are supposed to, there wouldn't be a need to either slam or push down on anything. For all the hype about this metal strip that is supposed to aid in closing I'm not seeing it makes any difference. I'm sure this is just the first of several issues us early owners will have with these...
It wouldn't be as big a deal to me if there was not the "new & improved" promotion of this new system and in real world applications a number of us have found it's not all it's cracked up to be.

Here is a link to how the hatch vent mechanism works. I'm guessing it could be an issue with the AHV "Heat wire"??

So we are back to the C5 procedure, where we have to leave the door open to close the hatch. That's a PITA, as I use my trunk area pretty much everytime I drive the car (daily driver, and I use a car cover). I was really looking forward to not having to do this.

Default Deck lid closing...

Your deck lid is designed to close with a little umf behind your closing technique... If you use the handle on the right side of the deck lid you won't have any issues... I have delivered 8 C7's in the past 2 weeks and I have been to Chevy 2 day training on the C7. The reason for the harder close is the tight fight and finish on this car and the use of the light weight materials in this vehicle... There is an actually fan behind your rear C7 logo to get the air pressure out of the vehicle. So don't look for the automated pull down in the future... The reason for that was to assist
in the closing due to the high amount of pressure in the car... This new fan eliminates the need... Have a great day

Anyone else on this forum deal with trunk issue?

Same issues with me. I pretty much have to slam it to get it to close if the windows and doors are closed. I too thought the heat wire was supposed to take care of that but it clearly does not. The fit is excellent so no issues with that. Now that I know how to close the hatch, no issues!!

I've never been a big fan of those trunk handles. Too easy to get your hand slammed on.

I tried the handle, same result. Took me 3 tries with extra extra umf. What seems to work the best, is just push down on the center of the hatch to close it completely which will make it flush fit.
Too bad it doesn't work as advertised.

They need to fix this issue, this along with the Paint peeling up on the back. I would never buy a first year run Vette.

I guess I don't understand the connection of the use of the handle and closing easer. Does using the handle turn on this fan you speak of?

Page 2-15 of the owners manual.

Use the pull cup to close the hatch/
trunk with light force.
