People ask me why I don't drive my Corvette more. It's precisely because of azzhats like the OP posted that I don't. When I DO drive it to work I have one or two special places that I get there early to grab and it still never fails that some idiot will take up the extra space I have made for myself and make it difficult to get back in the car when I leave.
If there is ANYTHING memorable about your car, think what the wise-a$$ might do the next time they see it. I'm sure you felt good and righteous when you snipped, but I'm surprised you did not feel even totally paranoid the next time you had to park it anywhere public, just because you chose to really escalate the offense....
Actually I had not really thought about it again until this thread triggered the memory of what happened 33 years ago. The way he had gone out of his way to park his old truck within a few inches of my car so I could not get into my car just to obviously irritate me for his entertainment seemed to merit something other than letting him get away with it with no repercussions.
Never was paranoid about parking any of my vettes in public areas and that didn't change after that incident that never has occurred again since that day.
You all might think I'm crazy... but I always grab a spot right up front with everyone else. I even leave the roof panel off. I have NEVER had a problem. I often come out to people taking pictures of it. But that is about it.
Assume people are decent and they will treat you decently.
Assume they are jerks and park far away... they will be jerks.
She didn't have to do that. People are basically good, don't give up on them yet.
It's great that you have that attitude, I kind of admire it in a way since I am so jaded. I just can't agree with this statement though. It's an effed up world we live in, filled with lowlives and scumbags. I assume all people are pieces of **** until proven otherwise.

Yeah, I know. It seems there are all kinds of these people that will pour coffee on your car, or cut your valve stems, just for having the audacity to park next to them.
The thing is, this stuff happens almost every time, with every nice car I've owned. One time I parked a ZR1 in the last spot at Meijers, up against a curb, at least 25 spaces from the nearest car. When I came out there was a clapped-out pick-up parked over the yellow line, in my spot, about 12 inches from my car. Ever try to get into the drivers seat of a Vette, from the passenger door?
Luckily, I had a valve-stem loosening tool handy...
Reminds me of a friend in high school. This stuff has been going on for decades. He got a Corvette for his 16th birthday and was asking for it from the get-go. Tried parking in the teacher's lot once. That didn't go too well for him once news got out. The very next day when he was told to park in the "student" lot there were cars parked a few inches from him on both sides by the end of the day.
I rarely drive my Corvette to work but when I do, I'll park in an end spot because of all of the poor parking I see on a daily basis in my parking garage. My old Land Cruiser is my daily driver. It's lifted and and hard to ding but if it does get dinged, it just adds to the character.
I never plan on having a Vette as my DD. People think I'm weird because I have two fun cars I keep at home and daily drive the Cruiser. It's just what I prefer and am comfortable with and is a more appropriate vehicle to be driving for the zombie apocalypse.
Any who, I've enjoyed reading through this thread and thought I'd chime in.
Well, you are the one who started a thread called "Parking morons". That makes it very clear to me you were pissed. I fail to see why the guy is a moron for parking very nicely in the middle of HIS parking spot. The fact that he is next to you is just the way it is. There are lots of other cars in the nearby parking spots.
It isn't your parking spot any more than it is theirs, is it? You are the one with the problem.
I repeat...don't park it in public parking lot of if you can't handle it. I park mine in them and you don't see me bitch about it calling other folks nasty names.
You apparently think I care what is seemingly "clear" to you. You couldn't be more wrong. You "fail to see" a lot; you missed the whole point of my post and seem incapable of ordinary comprehension.
Be "clear" about this: I really don't need your silly advice, nor will I bother to read any more of your responses. Like all the other trolls, you're just looking to stir things up and your rant is not bothering me in the least. Tell somebody who cares. End of discussion.

You calling those of us who don't agree with you trolls is apparently just part of your persecution complex. Morons...trolls...whats next? I'm not the one ranting, you are.
Back 1972 I bought the first car Honda imported to the US, A 600 coupe.
Took it to a military training class and my fellow classmates picked it up and turned it sideways in the parking spot. It was that small and light.
Now a disabled vet and have handicap thing for hanging in the mirror. Those spots are bigger and also my C7 is not a DD or an errand gofer.

In the spirit of Christmas and to lighten things up in this thread I will post a reply by an Off Topic regular and fellow Canadian to OP's picture that I posted in an OT thread. I thought it was pretty damn funny.

Calling someone a moron for legally parking next to you is uncalled for.

Well OP does have a right to be concerned, generally people who keep their car in this condition really don't GAF about the cars that are around them and yes that is a generalization but one that has merit, tell me, would you rather have him park beside you or me? Sure enough s/he may have been driving solo so OP would have ZERO concerns whatsoever but there's also the chance that s/he wasn't. The same reason why I steer clear of minivans, old people, people of certain ethnic backgrounds on the streets is the same reason why I want an un-kept, un-maintained POS parking beside me, if they don't GAF about their vehicle, they sure as hell don't GAF about mine, it's being cautious that's all.
You drove your C7 to Home Depot ??? ... The land of nails, sharp tools, idiots & illegal aliens backing up trucks with stuff hanging out the back of their trucks and trailers?
I think your first problem was gong to Home Depot in the C7 to begin with.
