We've been through this argument about CF poll validity over and over. There's no question that this group is not representative of the average C7 buyer. Just being an active participant in an internet car forum represents a different mindset from the average vehicle owner, and you can decide for yourself what that means.
I also have no doubts that the reported failure rate is significantly less than the 15% currently being reported here. If it were really that high, GM would have a riot on it's hands. I suspect that many are reporting problems here that the average owner is not reporting. Is it or is it not a problem? We'll never know.
If you're on a car forum you're obviously more focused on things, which in some cases are non-problems. We see posts all the time here from folks reporting what they think is a problem, but it's completely normal.
I just noticed we still have people starting threads worried that 10% ethanol in fuel is a problem.
I just did a google search on the phrase, "C7 corvette A8 problems" and found an interesting array of our forum posts, other C7 forums, a corvette mechanic forum and a blogger all discussing our little issue with the A8 design deficiencies.
BUT BUT BUT this poll doesn't make any sense. According to corvetteforum threads every A8 is a piece of crap and fails!! These results do not support that fact! Also I wonder how many guys that don't even own an A8 are voting that it failed lol
Mine is a 15 and has been perfect and I have an ECS supercharger making around 610rwhp. Not a hiccup.

Here's the problem. Those of us that had bad A8s aren't saying all A8s are bad. In fact, I've said a number of times, in a lot of different threads, that the number of failures, while significant, isn't that large statistically. But even a 10 percent failure rate means there are a lot of your fellow Corvette owners going through a horrible Corvette ownership experience. Throw in the fact that GM and a lot of dealerships have repeatedly told these owners that there is nothing wrong with their car and MAYBE, you can begin to empathize enough with those owners who have had problems to STFU about how there is no issue with the A8.

You are not the type of person I was referring to and obviously I would hope any Corvette owner that IS having problems would be taken care of and made whole. I could certainly understand the frustration from those that ARE having issues. However my point stands, if you simply go off all of the complaints and threads on this forum alone I would swear that basically all A8's are bad. The poll is showing just the opposite.
Come on folks let's quit arguing about whether or not this poll is statistically valid. It is NOT. I was the one that suggested the poll and made it clear that it might serve to demonstrate that problems with the A8 tranny are real. How prevalent we will never know unless GM reveals how many have been replaced. Multiple TSBs have been released concerning issues with this transmission including TC failures so it is real and GM has validated the issue with their TSBs.
^^^ Oh man that has to suck knowing your beautiful GS is going to be dismantled like it will. What's the game plan going forward? Did they already take it apart somewhat to determine the failure or is it a drive test? Do you have confidence that the shop can get her back to perfect? ETA on when it will be done?

I hate that anyone has ever had a problem with their A8 and that some dealerships have blown the problems off for whatever reasons they have. It really would suck to be in that position. On the other side of the dilemma, on this forum, one member has been responsible for stirring the pot to the point of even stating in a post that it's not if, but when, a Corvette owner's A8 is going to fail. That's nonsense, but since this particular member has had at least 14 difference user names (based on the ones I've been able to recall), I believe some who infrequently visit the forum may feel that the sky is falling because of his posts under these various user names. Have there been A8 issues? Absolutely. Are all A8 ticking time bombs? I highly doubt it. I wish the best for anyone dealing with an A8 issue.

Well said, that is what aggravates me. The sky is falling mentality and when people who are just joining or reading the threads, they are thinking that these are complete trash. I do not and hopefully this thread does not turn in to that. Just a fun look at the data that is not scientific, but definitely paints a picture. Will be fun to watch if we can get more polled and see if the trend continues.
