I am looking for opinions. If I buy a 1LT, am I likely to regret it later? I definitely can afford a 2LT or 3LT, but I like the basic appearance of this 1LT convertible:
I know the limitations of the 1LT, and there are things that I would want to change. How difficult is it to upgrade the audio system, and what is the best navigation solution without Apple CarPlay?

YES! You will regret it. The 1LT seats suck, there'e no HUD (a MUST HAVE item!), the radio and electronics are minimal and, they're either not upgradable or so expensive as to make the cost of upgrading prohibitive.
The car you pictured is a beautiful C7 Vert and is, apparently, easily accessible for you. However, there is no shortage of beautiful, accessible, C7 Verts for sale for the same money with lots more "must have" options. Try cargurus.com. You won't believe what's out there.

I ordered from the factory and chose 1LT because I didn't want most of the stuff in the higher optioned units. Don't want HUD, bun warmers and coolers, memory seats, auto dimming rearview mirror and so on. GM nav is not good - I have it in my Colorado. I have a Garmin for the Vette. Or use my phone and Google. My iPhone Bluetooths to the car so my experience is that is as good as the Apple CarPlay in my Colorado. The audio system is great. The 2LT audio system adds a bass box in the rear and believe me, the 9 speaker system in the 1LT has a huge amount of bottom, can't see needing more. Only thing I needed to add was front view camera which I did with NavTool. We're way off topic now in this convertible thread so you might want to search this topic. Exterior appearance-wise, I don't think there's any diff.

we were going to get a 1lt, but after comparing cars and up grades decided on a 2lt

Don't be in a hurry... shopping is fun!
I am very aware of the inventory that is out there. I have been watching Autotrader, Cars.com, and CarGurus.com for at least 3 months, and I have no problem with the idea of buying a car that is as far a 1500 miles away. My last two cars came from Texas and Missouri.

I don't really think that this is "off topic," because I am shopping for a convertible. Anyway, I agree with you. I don't need HUD (I have been driving happily for 50 years without it), heated/ventilated seats (my wife will complain, though), or an auto-dimming mirror. I would like to have in-dash navigation because I use it frequently. I realize that probably isn't going to happen in a 2014 1LT. I know I can add HomeLink, and am prepared to do it. And I probably could live with the audio system in the 1LT, although it is inferior to what I have currently in my Volt and my Crossfire roadster.
One thing that bothers me is that the 1LT convertibles that I have seen seem to take longer to sell. When I decide to sell, I don't want to be stuck with it.
Concerning the super low-mileage certified one in my post above, I am having difficulty figuring out what it is worth. There are plenty of reasonably low mileage 3LT automatics listed (some certified) for similar money. I think it's probably over-priced by about $5000, but I suspect that the dealer isn't going to agree with me.

It's difficult for me to say what you might regret, but I'll tell you how we came about buying a 1LT after owning a 3LT C6. After test driving two 2LT's it was obvious we were in trouble as the seats caused my wife to much back pain. She has nerve damage from a car accident. We waited, pondered, and decided to give it another try. This time the only car available for a test drive was a 1LT, so we took it for a jog. Amazingly no back pain. The only thing we could think of different was the panel that holds the vent fan in the seat was not present in the 1LT. That's a long story to say I haven't missed any of the niceties that go with the 2LT. Would it be nice to have them back, yes. But I really don't need them. Good luck on your decision.

Like EPA numbers...."Results may vary"..... my wife has had several back surgeries including fusion C4-C7 and disc L5-S1.... she finds the 3LT seats very comfortable even on long jaunts..... sit in some and judge how YOU feel in them...that is the ONLY way to tell!!!LK

I'm partial to the one you're looking at. Same color scheme as mine - grey over black. My advice - don't suffer paralysis by analysis. You'll win no matter what C7 convertible you buy.

Nice car but if you have concerns, keep looking and you are looking at the best internet sites. I found my new 2017 Z51 convertible on AutoTrader 600 miles from home. I wanted at the minimum a 2LT optioned car and found a 3LT with many other options over the 3LT and I'm extremely pleased.
It appears you are patient which is a good thing because you will know when you find the right car.

In my case, my wife complained about the 3LT seats. She hasn't had an opportunity to ride in a 1LT yet. I think you are right, though. What is important is how I feel in the driver's seat.

That's true Lenny. Sadly we now have to buy cars that fits our infirmities.
1LT, 1LZ, 2LT, 2LZ, 3LT and 3LZ are all exactly the same seats. The only difference is the quality of the leather covering between 1LT/Z and 2LT/Z. The "3 package" is about leather on the dash and a few other goodies.
The only seat difference is Sport vs GT, but that's independent of 1,2,3 packages.

Yup... figured that was the case Foosh but the mind can lead you into thinking afield sometimes.....that is why I trust my seat to judge comfort or not, not an arbitrary package name or number.....
BTW... my wife is only 5' 1" but she likes both the passenger and driver seat comfort in our 3LT..... lots of adjustments for her 100lb self....LK

Foosh, when you say "exactly the same seats," do you mean the seat frames or all of the foam and bolsters as well? Respectfully... Having first test driven a new 2016 1LT before experiencing 2LT seats in a slightly used '15, I can tell you they did not feel like "exactly the same seats" to me. I eventually wound up with a slightly used 3LT and those seats, as you suggest, mirror the 2LT seats. But, I clearly remember feeling the 1LT seats were not padded as well as the others.
I like this idea also. Sold my 2004 Comm Ed convertible and found this 14 3LT m7 vert Laguna Blue.... wow, big step up! The C7 matches my 16 Tundra. I call them the"Blues Brothers" !
