I swore I would never own another black car a few years ago.
No question, the best looking color on the road just personally too lazy to maintain!!

Wow, that is a stunning ride but will stick with my affinity for the photo-negative Arctic White!

Default Help: Vert Top Leaking Hydraulic Fluid

Just bought my 2016 Vert 7900 miles. About the 4th time I have dropped the top and it started spraying hydraulic fluid all over the passenger side seat. Anyone have this problem or have an idea what happened? Very frustrating...just got the car and already problems. Thanks

Sounds like a trip to your local dealer is in order. That should be covered by the base warranty w/o question. I sure as hell wouldn't attempt to fix it yourself.

Has anyone had a rattle when top is up? On and off and it will contine through many cycles. Then one day it will be ok. The noise seems to be in center were it meets windshield. Dealer has no clue and I am not sure if Top problems are covered in extended warranty.

Default Luggage space

Okay, so I'm looking to get a C-7. Initially I was only interested in the coupe but have since found a convertible that I have fallen for. My reason for the coupe was simply more luggage space. Does anyone have a pic of the verts trunk and how much luggage you can pack in? I intend to use the car for road trips of one to two weeks. Be advised my wife doesn't pack lightly! I mean she even takes her favorite pillow along! If the top is down is there still some space under it for storage? Pics much appreciated.

I can pack as much or more in a Vert with the top up and the partition down, than the Coupe and still be able to see out the back window.

With the top off in the Coupe, or the top down in the Vert the space still is better in the Vert. Not a whole lot of space in the Coupe with the top stowed.

King sized pillows (that red thing) and all.

Don't have a pic readily available but I travel a lot for work. You can get a standard suitcase, an overnight (duffle) bag and a briefcase in the trunk but not much else. Standard set of golf clubs fits no problem.

I typically travel (1-2 week trips w/business attire) with a suitcase, rolling garment bag and a briefcase and take the truck to the airport because it all won't fit in the 'Vette. If I do take it, the large garment bag goes on the passenger seat.

One note is you can disconnect the boot cover in the trunk (that covers the top when down) for more room BUT you can't put the top down. It has an electrical interlock so if it isn't properly fastened in place, you can't put the top down. With the cover in place, there is a "little" room under it but not useful with maybe an inch of clearance. You could slide something flat under there but we're talking books or magazines. If the Boss Lady and I go somewhere in the 'Vette, we combine clothes into a common suitcase and odds/ends in a duffle bag. Plenty of room for the pillows (we both take our pillows with us!) shoes and the shower/shave kits. Works fine for a weekend (or week) trip.

Sounds like it is a bit tight and it is, but VERY WELL worth it! The trunk is fairly sizable for a convertible, much larger/usable compared to my previous Mustang and Camaro convertibles.

We have a rule if you can't put the top down then the luggage gets cut down. We get all soft side canvas bags. Cheap at Walmart we get two 20 inch bags and an 18 the will fit three across. Then we put the hang type clothes flat on top of the bags. There are spaces on each end to put shoes. If we took pillows (which we don't) they would go on the bottom. We go a week no problem. We had an 89 vert with not much space so we learned on it. Wife packs well lucky there

I have 2 roller bags designed to go into the overhead compartment on a plane. They fit very nicely along with pillows.

As stated soft side duffel style bags are the best. Our trick is to pack only enough for 4 days then wash along the way. That way we can keep the partition in place for a drop of the top any time we want. Most all of the chain motels have laundry rooms at a reasonable price. On wash day we plan a shorter run so we won't be pushed for time. That's worked for us on many 3 weeks road trips.

The ONLY reason to buy a convertible is because you want to put that top down, each and every time you get in your Vette; it’s almost a compulsion. Snow/rain are the only things that force me to put my top up. The last thing I worry about is storage, but there is more than you might think. When I do travel, I use soft bags but keep the top partition in place. I can get my smaller golf bag, a large soft bag and a flat garment bag in my trunk with the top down. And top down is the best way to hear that wonderful NPP exhaust in Track mode on my Z51 when I wind out my 7 speed. Perfect!

Same here. If the weather is too hot or too cold for top down driving, I just take my other ride (a 2nd generation Colorado). It's almost a waste to drive a vert around with the top up...

Thanks for the quick replies, just what I was looking for!
owc6 The pic is great and the comparison between coupe/vert helps a bunch.

Allen B Good info especially comparing with the Camaro as I now have a '98 convertible so I can relate.

Blue Max Actually the wife does well packing but we do have "spillover" space in the backseat of the Camaro. Love the color of your car. If it was still available for '18 that is what I would order.

Mikey TX / Rebel Yell Pretty much one roll around and a large duffel bag is what fits in the Camaro so the Vet may have more room. Good news.

I'm surprised at how many people take their own pillows, the wife told me so!
Thanks again.

Nah. The ones I bought barely stick out from the bottom. If it weren't such a pita to transfer pictures from my phone, I'd post a picture. They are basically soft bags on small rollers with a collapsible handle.

Check out vetterack.com and a picture of my Vette with the rack mounted page 8 in this thread. I have also located a weatherproof zip bag on Amazon the same width and length as the rack for mounting on the rack. I've added mounting points for cable locks. It works for me.
