Did the OP get abducted by aliens? Have not read any update from him in months. Wonder if he ever had his car repaired?

Might be lieing low. I'd be sick fracturing my rocker and door too. Wonder if he's going to try to make an insurance claim on it?

I did almost the same thing last September except my damage was limited to the aperture panel. I didn't damage the door. My local Chevrolet dealer replaced the aperture panel and painted it for $2,922.68. I'm in Tennessee so I can't recommend a SoCal body shop. See my self-flagellation posts below.

Scary sh-t. To be honest jacking my C7 made me so nervous I decided to invest in a set of Jackpoint jackstands. Gives me a little more nerve to actually jack it up.

Call your agent NOW. This is why you pay for insurance.

^^^

Comprehensive is as the word implies! If someone key's the side of you car it's covered. If you're jacking the car to change a tire and it slips it's covered- per my AllState Agent!

I purchased the aluminum pads that attach into the holes.

Sorry to have to post this info, but EVEN THOUGH I was watching the jack roll towards the car while jacking it up, and EVEN THOUGH it was perpendicular this time (happened before about 10 years ago on my C5), and EVEN THOUGH I checked the puck and jack while it was lifting...I didn't check on the last 2-3 lift lever actions....and BOOM. F__K!!! Do you know how loud that destruction is??? Destroyed my door, rocker panel, and fender. Yes, insurance pays. $8,000!! Dang. Made me sick. One year old car. Plus I feel like an imbecile. At least now it's all back together and you really can't tell other than the clearcoat being California water-based and therefore weaker. Plus, it STILL has some orange-peel!! LOL
So now I'm very paranoid about doing an oil change. Was going to change my brake pads, too, but also scared. Not sure what went wrong because I have that rubber pad built into the jacking plate. One guy in here created a jacking "plate" as part of his jack that fit into the jacking hole near the door. Maybe a scissors jack is the way to go. Slower, but at least it's straight up and down.
Any other suggestions? Anyone know where I can get the jack shown in post #122 above? It's this one:

OP - If you have complete coverage, why would this not be covered? I have a friend who's kid trashed the side of the family car in the garage with his bike. Nice deep gouge almost for the entire length of the car. Covered. Why would your incident be any different?
Best post in this whole thread Did he forget a '0' or 2??

Once I get a corvette I'll have a local shop do all the work. No garage, driveway is gravel, and more time to do other useful or fun things.

I get oil changed at a Chevy dealership that is set up like a Jiffy Lube. You just drive over the pit and they have the oil changed in a few minutes--and they never have to lift the car. No chance for mishaps. This place will accept drop-ins, or you can make an appointment, your choice.

Some of us enjoy working on our cars. I, for one, liked changing the oil...getting underneath, seeing how clean it was or cleaning it while there...Plus yes, even though they don't jack up the car, sometimes the staff does spill some oil and you drive away smelling burnt oil under the hood. But, in light of my "mishap," I think I'll be joining your ranks.

Sorry to hear of your problem. Had something similar with my 2014. All was fine except for the last pump! Well I didn’t look for the last few pumps and I was using my “short arm jack” at it’s max lift.

You answered your own question and for others! Look at the jack saddle - jack pad relationship after each pump. Been jacking cars over 60 years and never had a problem until like you I didn’t check for the last few pumps and needed to get the last stanchion under the rear tire! My main damage was only to my side skirt but heard that bang and felt very bad.

I’d suggest getting a longer “arm” jack that does not need to “move in as far.” Or perhaps two and jack each side, when both are needed, one pump at a time. IMO the 21” arm, 95 lb jack I bought after my incident is not needed and it’s hard to move in even though it needs to move less. My 15” arm jack works fine.

NOTE: Where my short arm jack needed to move in 2.6 inches at max lift, for that same lift height my other jacks (yep now have 4!) only need to move in as shown FOR THAT SAME LIFT HEIGHT-NOT FOR THEIR MAX LIFT.

Quick Jack is the way to go. I got the 7000 and use it to lift my F150 and Vette.

The quickjack or my method (drive up raceramps under front tires, drain oil, and then jack up center of back of car with Jack to get rest of oil out)

But my car is a c5z, I'd assume my method would work on c6 or c7 the same.

Quickjack setup seems like the safest and easiest tho

I need to stop reading the forums. Reading this thread and seen the quick jack which I was
going to order a couple months ago but didn't. So I search quick jack and found the
BL-5000SLX at Home Depot for $1099. Add to cart/Paypal/Pick up in store in a week.
Will be needing to get the car in the air soon to install an x-pipe, brake pads, and a
couple other things and using my cheapo jack just hasn't been sitting to well.
Problem solved now I guess.

The quick jack does seem like a good solution.

OP - did you get the car repaired and how did it turnout?

When I go on the quick jack website for the 5000, I can only see models referencing BMW's and Mini's. I realize we're using it for Corvettes as well, but is there a specific model for the Corvette or even the C7? I'm not sure why it would matter.

I appreciate the honesty; the number of times my (limited) hand/eye repair skills have gotten me into a bad place; it took me three hours to install a pre hung screen door and my (at the time) 13 year old daughter asked me why the handle was so high, yup installed it upside down (and I told her it only seemed high because she is short). With cars I've gotten as far as changing my own oil (once, burned my hand) and installing a CAI on a Miata (wouldn't idle, took it to a mechanic and he asked me why the sensor wasn't plugged in...…..
