[left]To close the loop, they repaired the damage versus removing and replacing the entire piece. Looks flawless.
How long did the actual job take, if you know? I'm from out of town at my dealer when I get mine done, so I'm wondering if they can do it while you wait for it?
No, they need to sand, repair, and let the repair cure before paint. The paint then needs to dry. It's not a "wait for" job, but 2-3 days if you're lucky. If only sanding and paint is required, maybe 1-2 days.
I left my car with them for two weeks because I had to go out of town on business for awhile. I dropped it off on a Tuesday and I got a text message that it was completed and ready for pick up anytime on Monday. I believe they worked on it Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
I spent 40 years in the business with some of it as a Service Director. I never was able to perfect the ability to look at a car I had never seen before and be able to absolutely tell how, when, and where damage took place. Obviously there is an entire group of people on this forum that can make that determination just by looking at a picture.
Factually, I know the car is inspected many times between the factory and delivery to the dealer. Factually I know most every dealer has a designated employee to inspect new vehicles at delivery. Factually I know the factory pays the dealer to inspect the new vehicle during PDI, part of which means putting it on a lift, and to detail the car prior to delivery. All of which would require the dealer to look at the car.
Factually we know the OP states he inspected the car at the dealership and found no damage before delivery. He evidently drove the car home and decided to also detail the car the next day. He does not state how many miles he drove it, where, or under what conditions.
Can someone please tell me why the dealer, who got $250 for a courtesy delivery, should be responsible for the damage and how you know they did it? The damage looks pretty obvious to me and I would have a hard time walking around my new purchase without seeing it. This is another good reason not to buy from a dealer thousand of miles away unless you are ready to deal with these kinds of problems and potentially be willing to pay for the cure.
Factually, we know that GM is nothing but crooks at every level and that this type of problem is very typical with GM. GM should have been let to go out of business in 2008 like I had hoped for in 1984. It only took me 35 years to come back and it's the same old, same old.

Factually, nobody is twisting your arm to come back. If you're not happy leave again.

Now that's funny!!!! I am much more equipped to deal with inefficiency of GM than I was as a 20 year old with-out a LEMON LAW. They will get to know my Attorney Immediately if any of this stupid s*** rears it's head. More equipped to deal with GM INDEED!
Yeah, I'm going back in.... but if these types of shenanigans and antics that I read on this board are any clue, nothings changed in 35 years. In the meantime, I've had ZERO problems after the 1982 Trans AM Fiasco, because I Never purchased another American car after that. LOL

Makes sense.
I'm going to make an appointment with the Chev. dealer, to ensure I get a loaner. I'll do my best to prepare their body shop to get on it because I will be staying at a hotel in Houston while the body work is done.

40 years here, since I bought my last new Corvette. I'll probably be buying a 4X4 Chev. Tahoe one of these years too.
You accepted it as is. I cannot see that GM will deal with it now since there is no proof that you didn't do it after pickup. Fortunately, as noted, it is a non-obvious spot for a repair. All the best, in any event... and, enjoy!
Oh please. Improper jacking @ PDI dealer. OP, hope this gets remedied to your satisfaction!
Looks as though OP got a satisfactory solution without the type of shenanigans and antics that deweyox is preparing for with his attorney at the ready.

I bet you and your attorney were shown the door and told to leave without the door banging you in the ***.
Dealer several hundred to thousands of miles away ain't no help. Bad enough that I have to drive 250 miles each way in-State to get mine fixed at the dealer that I bought mine from sold me damaged wheel wells C7 as Carlos' car was..
I crashed into a pickup truck this morning with my 2016 C7. Our wheels got chipped and my front fender has damage that looks like his rear fender. The dealer's body shop said $800 to repair a small crack you can't see if 6' away. Is there a way to DIY fix small fiberglass damage like this?
