Please remember that there are two part numbers for this upgrade.
2014-2015 vettes use part number 84524520
2016-2018 vettes use part number 84513064
The part number can be found on the thumb drive.
It does not appear that they check the vin to validate that you are getting the correct part number.
You must order the correct part number for your car.
When you order, you must use the screen that is for ordering the part number for your car.
They enter the vin into one of the installation files to make the installation specific to that vin.

Reason: change 1015 to 2015
Well, after an hour on hold got the agent to set up my RMA, FedEx back to Here in Tennessee on their account. Seems so backwards to have to be mailing software thumb drives around, t'would be simple to download on a high speed connection. Hoping this fixes the issue and that there isn't something corrupt on my system drive that is preventing it from writing the new map files. That would mean a trip to the dealer.
Installed mine on Friday without any problems while driving to my weekend place. As you can see in the picture below that I took it says "You may drive your vehicle".
I did not have anything connected to any of the USB ports and I had my cell phone Bluetooth turned off so it wouldn't connect to the infotainment system.

Put the car in maintenance mode. It is diffferent than acessory mode. Hold start button down 8-10 seconds. Car will not turn off till you push the button again. No need to drive at all. I have done this so I know it works. You will still have to drive later to update the GPS info.

Depending on how strong your battery is, it could go dead during the procedure, which might not hurt anything or might cause major problems. Hooking up a charger will prevent that problem but I've had other strange electronic issues while running on a charger.
IIRC, in Maintenance mode (sometimes called Diagnostic Mode) the fuel pump is energized and all sorts of other electrical stuff is running or trying to run.
Does the Service Manual have any restrictions about using that mode, or explain the effects of ~45 min use?
Call the 800 number for the map folks. Talk to them. They sent me the wrong part number and I had to reorder and use an RMA.
Elmer
Same happened to me -- they sent the 2016-2018 PN for my 2014.
After about 2 mins on the phone with their tech support, was informed they had sent me the PN for the wrong year.
Re-ordered the RIGHT one, and am returning the old one on their FedEx account. Odd that, since the price of the return FedEx shipping likely exceeds the cost of the thumbdrive, and since the thumbdrive is VIN-encoded to a non-existent year/VIN combo, would be useless for *anyone* to use. Oh well.
UPDATE: Received the correct 2019 update for my 2014 Stingray today (they sent it via Fedex 2nd day air on their dime). Did the install (left engine running as suggested) and it went flawlessly. Took about 50 minutes. Map version verified on the software versions screen and everything is good.

Just did mine today. Plugged into the USB behind the screen, clicked UPDATE, went to 1% in about 10 seconds, then went to 30% in about 15 min, then went to about 65% in 30 min, hit 85% at 40 min and was done almost to the minute at 50 minutes total. I let the car run in my garage, but the message did say I could drive the car (but I did'nt). I will say this - with absolute certainty...the startup time for the radio and NAV is easily 4x faster (huge improvement). Before the radio and NAV would be "available" within 45 seconds once the car was started - now after I did the update, the NAV was available in maybe 10 seconds...if not quicker.
Here is the screen BEFORE the update (Im at 2014 Z51 - dont think it was ever updated):
Just did the update on my car. Took about 40 minutes. I was a bit worried as it stayed on 99% for what seemed an eternity. No issues here. I followed the instructions implicitly.

The people at Here(GM Navdisc, formerly known as Navteq) told me the 2014 and 2015s will show the updated PN on the screen in your photos. They said it doesn't show there for the 2016-2018. Still looking for validation of that statement. My update works well, almost instant on, and does show new roads. I also found some numbers in one of the files on the thumb drive that correspond with some software numbers I found on the hidden maintenance screen after the update. Press the on button, home button, and menu button at the same time to see this "hidden" screen.

I updated my 2017 Grand Sport about a week ago with no problem (car in driveway, running, took 30 minutes). After the update, it still shows the "old" version number for the map, however the updated map shows a bunch of new roads and interchanges that weren't in the "old" map. It is showing roads that have only been opened to drive on in the last 3 or 4 months. So, it seems very up-to-date.
I have a map update for my 2015 Z06 that is suppose to get delivered on Saturday (tomorrow). The update that I did to the 2015 about 20 months ago did show the "new" version.

I’m sure it’s been addressed here before, but how is one supposed to have any confidence in the instructions for this update when it clearly says, “Do Not Drive While Installing Update” but when you go to install the update, it clearly says “You May Drive the Vehicle During the Update”?
Just to be safe, I updated mine with engine running and all went well. Got stuck on 99% for the longest, but it finally finished. I’ll see how much better this version is tomorrow when I go pick up my granddaughter from her first day of high school in the Little Blue Vette (her request).

I agree, the printed versus on screen instructions comes off as very confusing. Not sure how that got past the QA department. If people are in doubt, note that nothing bad comes out of a idle install.
Just an update for anyone interested. I got the replacement map thumb drive from Here and still no joy. Exactly the same behavior. Plug it in, get the prompt to update, say yes, acknowledge that NAV not available during update, get the "updating" message and spinning arrows icon.... but it never progresses past 0% progress no matter how long I give it. Got to be something corrupt in my system firmware preventing the file write operation. And since the first attempt a couple weeks ago erased the OEM maps there is no map or NAV capability. I believe my system probably needs the equivalent of a factory reset that is easily done on most any device these days, but probably only doable by the dealer for these GM systems.
Not to put off anyone else from doing this, the process is extremely simple and seems to work reliably for most. Just not always....
What a bummer.
Any chance you’re still under warranty?
Might be easier for a dealer to replace the unit rather than try to fix it. But not if you’re paying.
Yup, BtB warranty good until mid December. I just need to make time to take her in. I want to get Android Auto and MSRC updates anyway. Those I expect to pay for. I just hope they can get this done in one day and not muck things up.
