I haven't been timing it before/after with a stopwatch, but it sure feels faster and more responsive with each update. When I first got the car back in 2014 one of the first things I noticed was how slow and laggy the infotainment system/touchscreen was to respond.
- my 2014 takes several seconds to "come alive" with the radio, NAV, etc. Once the NAV becomes available, Kracka is spot on when he says the buttons respond very slowly. I just ordered the NAV update and I dont think my car has had any updates - so is there anything anyone needs me to post, a picture or anything to help answer questions BEFORE the update is done, then AFTER?
Just let me know...Id be happy to post whatever is needed...
Note that the GM part number is not the map software number that shows up on the settings screen. I have 4 vehicles to do this to (2 Corvettes) and it is confusing to find out the current version and reference it to the installed part number that HERE lists in the configuration part of the update description.
Null Pointer above is correct about the differences in the two versions for the C7s. '14-'15 is different from '16 and up. I have both.

Id be interested to know if any changes were made to the screen icons and their placement, if any improvements to the 3 bar graphic EQ were made, and if it’s any easier to swipe the radio presets from screen to screen.
I've heard that the update can be done in maintenance mode rather than leaving the car running for 50 minutes.. Does anyone know for sure that the update can be done in maintenance mode?

Specifically says not to do it in accessory mode. See the first post.

The instructions say not to use Accessory, but don't mention that maintenance/diagnostic mode.
Unless cleared by GM, I wouldn't want to try it. You could have the fuel pump and a bunch of other stuff running that might not be properly cooled, you could run down the battery, and connecting a charger might confuse the car.
I did the update yesterday evening and just let the car idle in our driveway, when I came back after 40 minutes the update had completed and the system restarted. All temperatures in the car remained normal during the process. New maps seem to work well.
I bet accessory mode would work as long as you didn't let the retained accessory power time out and shut down in the middle of the update. But I am probably just gonna let her idle, as much as I hate to do that.

Leave it to GM to make what should be a very simple task and make it a very complicated one..
I just updated the map in my Ford Edge and just plugged in the USB drive and that was it.
I'll never update it again.
Just started the update, the screen says " you may drive your car" I'm getting more pissed with GM as I sit here waiting. I tried to lock the car with the second fob, no such luck, an open running Corvette, should put a sign on it "steal me now". I wonder how many cars are stolen during this update fiasco!

I'm guessing none unless you have a specific example.

I leave mine running when i go to the bank or a quick stop. Tell me how someone can get in your car if they don t have a fob ???
cause mine won t let me in without it in my pocket

I cleaned my wheels while mine sat. Wipe down the interior, clean the glass, clean the brake dust off the wheels, there are many things you could do with the car while you wait with it during the install. Yeah the process sucks, so make lemonade out of lemons.

Uh-Oh
The car can't be locked from the outside when the engine is running, AFAIK.
You can set the car to lock itself after you shut down and exit, but not if you don't shut down.
So anyone can get in and drive away. When they go to shut it down later and don't have a fob with them, the car will display something like "No fob detected, off or run?" At that point they can choose to shutdown and the car will be stuck until someone shows up with a fob.
Well just getting around to this. I am about 15 minutes into the update and not sure it is working. I get the spinning circle arrows on the top left but the progress bar at the bottom hasn’t budged from 0%. Anyone have similar? I hate to wait for the full 45 minutes before retrying.

Mine sat at 4% for a long time, and it got there in the first 5 minutes.
I did my 2017 Corvette about 3 days ago and it moved quickly up to around 30% before I got any slowdown. About 18 months ago, I did my 2015 Corvette and it got up to around 25% before it slowed down (it has a slower processor).
