In about 30 years, when the hipsters of 2050 are into retro stuff, our MANUAL c7s are going to be worth a fortune even if driven daily. (hopefully, because I have no intention of buying a non-manual sports car so I'll probably still have my c7 in 30 years).
That being said, hipsters are stupid. Why someone today would want a 30 year old pickup or Bronco baffles my mind. They ride awful and have no redeeming qualities other than being cheap.
That will exactly happen to the C8 too. Once you leave the dealer your car will be worth 5k less.
Not at first, but eventually. Much like the C7 there will be a lot of "used" C7s selling for MSRP or more from people who want them NOW and did not put a deposit down, and or don't want to wait to get one built. It took until the C7 allowed supplier discount for the value to drop 5K when buying off the lot.
It's a beautiful car but beware of the salvage title. The ad states this in the description.
Thanks. I’ve been following C7 prices since I picked up mine a year ago. Nothing at all unusual about depreciation pattern; if anything, prices on the M7 variants have held up remarkably well. You see a C7 for cheap? There’s a reason...
I’m tempted to go back to the start of the C7 general forum from 2014, and find all of the folks who were dumping all over C6 owners about how the C6 was “obsolete”....just to see if any of them start whining about C7 values now...

Reminds me of the thread a while back. The Dodge dealer up by Sherman, TX bought a bunch of former Spring Mtn cars at auction and tried to sell them as one owner cars. Uh huh ......
many people who bought cars like that got 8-12k off sticker. If someone paid sticker, hopefully they don’t make that mistake again.
In 2014 corvettes were selling for MSRP or more.....exactly as they are doing on the 2020 C8. Looks like a lot of people are making that mistake again!

Hopefully not but it could be worse...think about all the 911 buyers that paid premium pricing and now listed as #1 defaulters and #1 customers returning their car before one year of ownership. 50-60K written off the bat...

Was just looking at a nice 3lt z06 with 25k c7 asking 45k firm with carbon fiber effects. Tempting to say the least. Coming time for trade ins. People are probably just trying to get a touch more.
2014 is a first year car. I don't think that any dealers were offering anything but MSRP the first year.
I got 10% off on my 2014 C7 Z51 (Torch Red / Black leather) in March 2014. Sticker was $70K, paid $63K. I believe it was because it was sitting on the dealer’s lot for a couple months as it was an M7 and most people passing through the dealership at that time wanted an Auto.
This is the tip of the iceberg, in about four to five months there will be a real drop, C8s aren't on the ground yet and most Corvette owners haven't traded theirs in. Once a steady stream of C7s start showing up, then the real used prices will happen.
I would agree that C7 Stingrays look somewhat dated along with nearly every gen’s base model. A C7 wide-body still looks pretty new, and I get asked all the time about the age of my GS as most can’t believe it’s over 8 years old. It’ll happen to the C8 Stingray as soon as the Z06 & other wide-body variants are released. The Base Corvette has always been somewhat vanilla.
