You know that "vanilla" is the most popular ice cream flavor. And the most popular C7.

Uhh, you do realize you're talking to a group of people lining up to pay full MSRP plus dealer fees (or more) for a car that will sell for 10% off MSRP in two years. (before the thread was moved )
Actually, seeing as the subject car is a 2014, it would have sold for at or near MSRP. Significant discounts didn't begin until well into the 2015 MY.

No, as has been stated, it's a rebuilt title issued in 2015. BTW, have any idea how badly hurt a 1 year old Z51, A-6, 3LT, Sport Seats, NPP probably has MRC that listed for well over $70K has to be to reach a total loss?
That car was seriously hurt. IMHO, I would gladly pay the $3K to $4K more to get a 1LT or 2LT with 50K on the clock but with a clean carfax over that unknown. Consider that the 2014 hasn't been driven much since it was totalled. I wouldn't have much confidence in that car.

Are you saying all the people paying msrp or more for their C8s this year (which is everybody buying a C8 this year) are making a mistake?

The salvage title part does not bother me the least. I have 2 C7Z’s that are r-titles (my 720 rwhp daily) and my 17 A8 I’m rebuilding (vandalized) to resale. I’m in a decent position in both to definitely make money but still drive a fun Z. It just takes longer to sell but best believe I typically discount 20% and not a penny less. I use to be one of those no salvage title ppl and after seeing a few of very minor damaged cars getting totaled I got into the game and it was a game changer for me.

Once the C8 drops my hit will obviously be a little harder than clean titles but a clean non frame damaged Z in mint condition (full disclosure of damages and pics) will always bring a fair $.

Absolutely correct. There are current C7 owners who have no intentions of upgrading to a C8 that will one day get bit by the bug after seeing them in the wild and need to dump out of their current late model Corvette.

OP declares "the sky is falling"! and presents one private party salvage title car as proof... I think this thread needs to go into the Fail of the Year bucket.

Great post! Hilarious but spot on. C7 is an awesome, aggressive looking car. The C8 has a big pair of shoes to fill. I'm thinking of another C7 Z06 for a couple years then C8 Z06.

Looking dated is in the eye of the beholder. I love looking at my C7 every day and saying WOW, I love it.

I think the C7 stick shift cars will not depreciate as fast. There are still plenty of folks who want a manual Corvette and the only way to get a relatively new one is a C7.

A friend of mine talked to the seller of that white/red C7 coupe over in Orange County because I was really thinking about it . . .if I recall correctly, he said no paint work but didn't know the circumstances of the salvage title. It's vin #130, so a GM executive car in all likelihood but damaged after GM use . . . my guess is that it may have been a flood car- potentially from Texas . . .but I'll run a Carfax or Auto Check and see what comes up.

I'd like to run over there for the day, but too much car stuff going on here in Scottsdale this week to be gone.

Thinking alike..just curious....how long are you willing to wait for C8Z06 intro before going C7Z? I don't think I can make it past April... :-)

People are seriously saying the C7 looks dated?

Really? The C6 doesn't even look dated (the interior maybe), but come on, seriously? I had a book and a half typed up... But people on the internet don't read. Just know I had a good afternoon's laugh at thinking a car that's only been in production for 6 years looks dated.

my guess is that it may have been a
GM exec caught road racing around the BG plant back in 2013, car impounded by Kentucky state police, along with his accomplices cars, execs out on bail. But you know what they say about it going on your permanent record.........or title.

which just goes to show the more things change, the more they stay the same.

I saw an 05 silver coupe today on the gurus for $20k nice looker, no issues, just gasp! 32k miles!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the one c6 that got everybody's attention, the GS, STILL sells for close to $40k.

Sooo, all those first responders, buying the plain vanilla c8 today, fast forward to the c9 introduction year and it's going to be deja vu all over again.

Who is going to buy a plain vanilla c8 in year c9 when they can get a used ZORA!

Or, a new plain vanilla C9?

And the beat goes on.

Fan boys separated from their cash too soon.

Good for the economy though.

I’m with you. Bought my fully loaded CPO ‘14 Z51 vert in 2016 with 3100 miles on it for $23k below sticker. Even with all the mods I added, the cost was about $75k. I’m at 66k miles now and plan to keep the car for a minimum of another four or five years before upgrading to a used C8. Depreciation should work out to about 40 cents/mile or less depending on how long I keep it.

People are just plain silly. They need the newest and latest to stay relevant. Actually pretty sad and to justify their actions they talk crap about other cars.

I am glad to know my C6Z will have less production numbers than the C8 after just 6 months. There is going to be so many base C8 around they will become an eye sore after a year. Just another common car at the end of the day.
