I am hearing a clicking sound on hard shifts. But it's not a vibration. I am thinking it's the chrome ring hitting sides of shift ****. Not sure. Doesnt bother me that much though.

Same here I hear a clicking/ rattling noise in 1st gear sometimes when I pull hard , doesnt happen in any other gear and also doesn't happen all the time. I would watch it more before doing anything.

Yeah gonna just try to pinpoint exactly when it happens.

went for a short drive and from the middle of the drive the shifter started making rattling noise in all gears including during regular driving. Earlier it used to make that noise in 1st gear only during hard pull. If I keep my hand on the shifter no noise.

Sounds like you need to tighten the boot to **** point. I wrapped a microfiber towel around that and turned it with channel lock pliers to insure that it was tight. Mine doesn't rattle.
Had the same **** on my Grand Sport- same rattle. Funny had that **** on my 2014 BUT from the original manufacturer and no issue.
Because I had problems removing the OEM **** (screw head sheared off) did not want to mess with it. So solved the problem with a MGW flat stick shifter that uses a thread ****. A lot more work BUT works great!
I only have clicking sound when I shift hard. No vibration, hopefully not in the future either. It's not bothering me though. But I dont drive the vette alot either.

The chrome ring for the boot tightens on the ****? I thought it just went in the channel of the ****? I'll take a look sometime this week.

Mine started to rattle, first at a specific rpm than in most gears. Could grab the OEM shift level through the boot and stop vibration and rattle. What I had was not going to be eliminated with a "O" ring. As mentioned previously had the same **** on my 2014 for 3 years with no issue but the manufacturer changed, perhaps also the hole tolerances.
When I installed the MGW shifter all the vibration stopped. I used their Flat Stick version since it uses it's own rubber part eliminating the OEM chrome ring AND has a screw on ****! No chance of a rattle!

I am getting the same noise as you mention
Is the white **** on the MGW shifter you bought with it or the RPI ****? Will the RPI **** fit on the MGW Flat stick?

Try taking the **** off and driving the car. That's what I did. I didn't have any noise with the **** off. The vibration is coming from the transmission, and tunnel, and up through the shifter. If the **** is threaded on you won't get the vibration. If you can isolate the ****, like I did with an o-ring, it will stop. Anyone that thinks it won't hasn't tried it or doesn't understand what the issue is. Anything we do to take the slop out of the shifting will add vibration to a certain extent. That's what the rubber isolation dampeners do on the box, reduce vibration by isolating the box.

Neither! MGW offers I think a 2" **** BUT for my hand and being used to a full 2 1/4 " cue ball size for 3 years in my 2014 they told me where they get their *****. In fact this place looks llike they make ***** for everybody1 It's called epcoshiftknob.
They have 2 1/4, even 2 1/2 and many, many types and sizes of *****. They offer in various thread sizes, just get the one MGW uses.
I didnt know the chrome ring clicks in even to RPI ****. Makes sense because taking it off the first time from the factory **** was a pain to twist off. That must be my clicking noise. As far as the vibration, it's not bothering me, not too much of it. Maybe after many more miles?

It's just the luck of the draw with the vibration. I took my shifter out and when I reinstalled it I got the vibration. I didn't move the box at all. Go figure.
On the RPI **** the channel for the chrome ring goes all the way around the bottom shaft. So the chrome ring does not click in anywhere. I see on the stock **** where it would click in though. So totally different. I could pick up a thick o-ring at lowes and put in channel.

Im kinda surprised anyone would feel the need to upgrade it. Am i the only one that thinks the stock shifter is great? I love the shifter in my new C7. Way better than any other car ive had in the past.
This is my 6th (and last, retired fat and happy) Vette and all manuals. For about a year I felt very contented with the stock tranny feel. I stated more than once on this site that this would be the first I had not put an MGW on as it was/is the best stock manual feel of any C5/C6/C7 I had owned/driven. Then I drove a C7 with the MGW and 30 days later I had added it......snick, snick, did the trick (again)....
