There's really been very few issue considering the the C8 being a totally brand new new ground up sportscar.
In fact, I stated from the beginning that I would wait for a 3rd year C8 to give GM one year to find the broad issues and another year to fix them as I really expected the C8 to be littered with problems. That really hasn't been the case.
The engine is carried over from the C7, that’s probably the most reliable component on it.
According to some reports it’s one of the least reliable cars.
“Chevy Corvette Among Least Reliable Cars, Says Consumer Reports”
I did not buy a C7 for its resale value. I just fell in love with its looks when I first saw it in 2013. Everything that came with the car has been a bonus; the sound the handling, the acceleration and even the paddles. Bought my 2019 GS on December 27th, 2019 and I intend to keep this one, irrespective of what other car I get in the future. At the time I bought this car my options were, New C7 GS, second hand 911, New GT4 or a New C8. I felt connected to only one car and I have it in my garage today. I do not dislike the C8, just that I like the C7 more. If I am blessed enough to have two 2-seaters in the future, maybe I will get one of them too.
With regards to paddles vs. manual; I learnt to drive in a manual and drove manuals for 31 years. 2012 was the last year I owned a manual and I no longer miss it. I like driving a manual, occasionally, its a different kind of fun, but I am more than happy with the paddles. What's more, I am faster at shifting my paddles than anyone else on the road shifting with a stick shift.
If you like the C8, go for it. If you can keep both, please do. If you want to keep your C7, you are welcome. I don't believe you can go wrong with any of the decisions, and my opinion or preference should not matter one bit here.
I have about as faith in Consumer Reports as I do CarFax.
Anyway, as I have stated, in my opinion both the C7 and C8 are exceptional sportscars especially for what they cost. Can't say I like one over the other. Some of you feel you have to trash the C8 at every opportunity and that's fine.
^^^ I had the choice of either a C8 Stingray or C7 Z06 Convertible. Guess which one I chose?
You had a choice of either a C8 or a C7 Z06 back in July? Or did you have a choice to buy a C7 Z06 or to wait over a year for a C8 or pay MSRP plus THOUSANDS $$$$$$ for one?
I ask because I got on waiting list for my C8 back in July and there was nothing available nationwide unless I was willing to pay thousands over MSRP.

So you are referring to me, when you say “Some of you feel you have to trash the C8 at every opportunity”? Why? Please explain?
They made about 200,000 C7’s, about 40,000 of those are 7M’s. Value is only going to go down from here.
The 7M C7 is such a blast to drive on a twisty road, for me it would be boring driving a sports car with a DCT/Automatic.
Good luck getting a C8 or a getting a deal on one.
The C7 M7 has violent response and acceleration that the C8s aren't capable of returning. That's the concensus on C8 forum. I'd agree that makes the C8 not near as sports carish to operate.
C7s are NOW selling in the $30Ks. Great time to be looking for a C7.

Joe, you call several posts on a single thread on the C8 forum that has thousands of threads/posters a “consensus”? I don’t!
The fact according to GM is the C8 is faster than the C7, even though a few may not believe it ‘feels” that way it's far from being the consensus from the C8 forum. At least from what I read.
And Joe, have you even driven a C8. I have and it’s every bit as sports carish (as you call it) to operate as my C7 GS.
And, I don’t believe there are currently many C7s selling in the $30Ks, at least worth buying. Perhaps old, high mileage C7s.
Not necessarily you in particular thus my writing 'some'.
I confess...I am one of the Haters.
The C8 race car kinda gives me a..Tickle.Being low and wide with all kinds of ground effects. The cost ain't worth the change to me.

So you quoted and reply to my post, with that statement. But you’re not referring to me in particular.
Cleanup on aisle five please!

I quoted your post in reference to the Consumer Reports info you posted. I didn't think it was that confusing.
Simple solution this topic: go check out the C8 discussion: problems thread on this forum. I just did. Right off the bat there were: transmission leaks, water spots in engine compartment, fitment with dash/glove box, seats padding bunched up, door panels rubbing qrt panels, pass window going up and down on its own, horn blowing on its own, a bolt in the door handle cavity cutting hands and the list goes on. Very interesting read.
