Laughable from the perspective of "an auto doesn't belong in a Z06" crowd or the perspective of "an auto in a Z06 kicking the crap out of manuals in anything" crowd?
Laughable as in a TORQUE CONVERTER auto doesn't belong in a Z06. Dual Clutch option or manual only.

I have no problem with you laughing at my Z06 with an auto as long as you have no problem with me laughing at you when my auto Z06 beats your manual/DCT Z06 on the track.
Fortunately for those of us who want to go the fastest, you aren't the one making the choice.

If you really want to be the fastest you want a dual clutch. I have no problem with an auto Z06 it just should be a dual clutch. And did you say a slush box beating a DCT? I don't think so.
It's all part of the bench-racer, forum jargon that people enjoy spewing to let others know they know what they are talking about...whether they actually do or not.

So I guess it doesn't have anything to do withy the fluid coupling between eng and rear end vs a physical connection the clutch gives.
slushbox: slang term for an automatic transmission, possibly because the transmission connects the engine to the drive shaft using a fluid instead of a solid plate

In a drag race, autos are faster than clutch type transmissions...a DCT is a clutch type transmission. A DCT has the same power loss through the transmission as an auto because it operates the same as an auto...it has a pump to enable the DCT to change gears "automatically". Autos can shift just as fast as a DCT, they weigh about the same as a DCT, and they have a smaller packaging than the DCT. On a road course, an 8-speed auto will keep an engine closer to its power peak (increases average HP during acceleration) than a 7-speed DCT. The auto has a torque converter that multiplies the torque from a dead stop and the stall speed allows the engine to start out higher on the HP curve...advantage automatic.
Looks like that "fluid coupling" thingy that makes it a "slushbox" comes in pretty handy after all. Oh yeah, don't forget drivability with the auto will be much better than a DCT.

Your comparison between automatic vs DCT is 100% incorrect at all points. Clueless!!!
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
