C8 problems

New Member! Decided to take my baby for a drive Sunday. Only 238 miles. Went to a family members home and parked. Their driveway has a steep incline. When I was ready to leave my car would not go into reverse. Finally just rolled into the street and was able to go into drive. Once I was home I tried again and reverse worked. Was talking with other C8 owners and they suggested I have it check for low fluid. Call and made a appointment today with dealer. I notice on the drive there that the car was shifting hard from 1st to 2nd. Also the “idle creep temporary disappeared’ light came on at every stop I made. Dealer called after a few hours and informed me they were waiting on GM to call them back. (Also when I drove up to the dealership their drive had a steep incline. I parked the car and the technician call me and said the same thing happen to him. He could not put the car in reverse. Hopefully will find out something tomorrow.
^^^^^ Update on your Car??
Here are a few of the issues we've experienced so far:
- Hardware missing EVERYWHERE - Description of parts?
- Paint chip on front bumper from contact with headlight
- Paint drips along edges of certain panels - Happens now and then
- Did we mention all of the missing hardware?

Agreed. My opinion is that the DCT will not become a long term, problematic issue. I believe that GM did its homework and the trans is good and reliable, with brutal performance improvements over manual or slushbox transmissions. But because it's such a new thing for the Corvette, and because the 'no manual" haters are lurking around the edges of their keyboards to attack the DCT, a full and separate thread--heavily patrolled by the moderators to weed out the haters and knuckleheads--would be a useful thing for the Forum.

The C8 Rollout was the worst and most incompetent new car release in history. 2020's should have been rolling off the line last October-prior to 2020 like all previous years-but the F...ing UAW hosed GM-AGAIN-with the longest strike in modern history -and now with COVID19- staying home again and getting paid- who knows when those goldbrickers will ever return-many will be lucky to see their 20 by 2021. Bowling Green is putting out a very faulty product with little real quality control, and many intrinsic problems. I am seriously thinking about cancelling my special order Z51 3LT, that I placed last September-because it seems like they just cannot get their act together and have several years worth of bugs to work out. Really sad this was the best they could do with such a magnificent concept!!!!

I had a leak in the rear of my car. Took it in to the dealer and it was a leaky seal on a hydraulic transmission mount. They said they'd have the part the next day to replace. I got a call late in that day and they said that they had decided to not replace it with the same part. There had been a part that superseded the previous one. They were shipping that and it would add a couple of days, but it would be resolved permenantly.

Melting Slicks
I drove this car today for about 35 miles . It is fully fixed, and currently at 189 total miles. As I mentioned elsewhere, the problem wasn't the DCT per se. Leak in the axle, totally unrelated to the DCT innards.
That transmisison is an amazing thing. So is everything else about the car. Now I REALLY want my Arctic/Tan Z51, currently at 3000.

I almost cancelled my 3LT and it finally came in when I gave an ultimatum to my dealer to get me a date or I bail. My car was in quality control for almost a month and it blew my mind. My car is flawless with perfect panels gaps and stitching. I don't see any orange peel. I love the car and am so glad I didn't cancel it.

YouTuber "Brink of Speed" posted this video 3 days ago that highlights about a half dozen C8 issues he has found. Some you may have not heard of before. Check this out.

unhappy person
What you see from me is simple responding to a bully. He picked out one statement I made to another member and blew it up and made it ugly for no reason other than to satisfy his thought process.
I personally come here to learn and banter about Corvettes and vehicles that may and may not compete with them. Not so sure about others...

IMHO this guy talks way too slow and and is really slow to make a point. He could of done the 8 minutes I watched an about 2 minutes normal time. There is too much good content on this forum to waste time listening to this drone on and on.

I wanted to hear this guys input, but I couldn't even get thru this video. I had to bail at about the 8 minute mark.

Fluke incidents or not, these incidents will be posted on this forum and having them in one location is helpful for all of us. I agree about the axle, but identifying all the weaknesses of the C8 in one spot and acknowledging that they exist can help us in the future— similar to the issues of cracked wheels and overheating issues on the C7, both which seem to have been addressed in the development of the C8.
i agree.

Maybe you have an issue with listening to truth. Is that it? This video highlights some interesting topics pertinent to the theme of this thread. It is informative, covering issues I have not seen covered on this forum. Additionally, it is well produced and contains better content than listening to rants such as the one you just posted. Mama always said if you have nothing good to say don't say it. You need to get out more. Just saying.
Key to good Youtube videos: Keep it short and to the subject, leave out the crazy rants and most of all... IT NEEDS TO BE YOUR ORIGINAL WORK. Simply regurgitating what 20 other Youtubers have already said won't hack it, especially when the information is wrong.

This is typical Youtuber clickbait where you would have to listen to 15 minutes of BS that could have been said in 2 minutes or less. Most of the info is already in 20 other Youtube videos. The more time you listen the more money the Youtuber makes. When I see one of these ripoff artists at work I skip through the video in about 1/10th the time and then give it a thumbs down.
