Says the dude with no credibility. See, comments like yours do nothing to increase our understanding of anything. To an enthusiast it’s important to understand what something is, but also what it isn’t. Every EVERY car has pros and cons. Sometimes more pros than cons, but sometimes to some individuals the cons are too significant. To speak in such absolute terms like you do adds nothing. Plus it’s stupid.
Your not even remotely versed in automotive industry advancements if you believe the C7 series is a better car. I mean ANY C7 series including the ZR1. It becomes comical when someone expounds on the attributes of a car in one particular area, and throws the rest in the garbage to say GM didnt advance IN all arenas of car building with the C8. Your not a enthusiast if you cannot see it.
Not everyone prefers the feel of a “Cadillac” otherwise they’d all buy Cadillac’s. To me if someone described a car as driving like a Cadillac it’s a bad thing as that means it’s vague, being so plush and not giving good feedback which I’m not interested in. It might be a plus to you, but not everyone has the same preferences and that’s ok as it’s great to be able to have choices!
If you cannot see the complete package of C8 vs C7 Iincluding the track prowess then you simply cannot understand why all of this advances the C8 far above ANY C7 series car.

You’ve been asked before but never answered, so maybe you can backup your statement for us. What Corvettes have you owned? Otherwise, how did you become the authority on being versed in automotive industry advancements?

Dont take my word for it. Take every single review by seasoned automotive journalist that have tracked and driven thousands of cars. Are you actually serious?

They sure as hell didn't advance in the arena of making their new models lighter than their old models.

Since you've never owned either one, WTH do you know?

This conversation would be funny if it wasnt so sad. I am not a professional reviewer, but neither are you. Has anyone in this debacle claimed the right of professionalism in automotive reviews? If anyone here wants the answer then simply look at the C8 presentation or any objective review of C8 vs C7. Has any previous generation Corvette been better than the one that follows in the last 4 series? To give credibility to anyone who believes there wasnt a SUBSTANTIAL automotive advance with the C8 series is the same as saying Porsches are worse than before BECAUSE THEY ARE HEAVIER. This is beyond naive.
Have you ever owned a Corvette?
A sports car?
A car?
Driver’s license?
He generally answers with this,
"Many sports cars, and lots and lots of track time😂"
Expect its total BS & he just has a lot of Car & Driver + Google time. Used to be a saying. Pictures or it never happened so far it never happened. He is a good guy for your ignore list.
I have to admit the proof of ownership committee cracks me up. Post a picture of a car in a garage and it turns out the guy/gal does not know where the car battery is what the engine displacement is and how to change the oil.
Real story!
Pass...
Did any of us Corvette fans notice the C7 ZR1 beat out this years winner and the 2nd place Porsche turbo?
Yea the 755hp 3100lb mid engine Mac 765LT was slower than the last gen ZR1. LOL.
SHHHH don't tell anyone. its really not worthy news....LOL.
I agree. I am glad you pointed this out as I was going to.
On another note, the C8 Z06 will be awesome, but thinking it is going to beat a C7 ZR1 is going to be a stretch.

It makes a difference when someone who speaks in absolutes’ experience is limited to video games.

OK...the McLaren 765LT WAS faster than the C7 ZR1 with CAR AND DRIVER guys driving both.
You guys are using JIM MERO'S time (in the C7 ZR1) to claim victory, that is not right.

I'm a Corvette guy, but come on...
No way I'll trade Jim Mero's times for my pretty C&D charts and pictures. No way!! With C&D it's all there for 70 cents! Beat that Jim! :-)

I don’t think you realize how close many models are if they wore the same tires. I wish Pobst or Mero would do a same day test of C6GS, C6Z07, C6ZR1, C7GS, C7Z07, C7ZR1 and C8Z51 all on Cup2s at the same track for comparison to rule out tire advancement. Randy or Jim are you listening?
The story is the C8s lap time, and it was VERY good. It not only beat its predecessors time by four seconds, but its rival mid engine GT4. Not only that, but the C8 can be considered the most successful LAUNCH vehicle in quite some time. Porsches 718 and 911 series cars are REFINED cars, as was the C7 if you TRULY know your Corvette history. The C8 IS A BRAND NEW VEHICLE FOLKS. All of those worries of understeer have melted away with many saying the C8 is close to perfect for a daily sports car that can be tracked. That is a monumental feat for any launch edition sports car.

This is true. But still, they are very close and it just goes to show how good the C7 ZR1 is.
Off topic - But unofficial ring times show that the C7 ZR1 time was also faster than the two times McLaren 720s' were timed (In different years)... I know I am a fan of the Corvette, but come on...
