Could the Z06 be supercharged?

I'm with some of you other guys that posted on another thread that the LT5 is also a possibility for the new Z. Regardless, I would much prefer a proven LT4 or LT5 over a high strung unproven NA FPC, and it would also help GM hit that $85k price target.

I’m still here. Not that I called anyone dumb..but I still have my doubts as I did then. I’ve adopted a wait and see approach because honestly, what else can you do but guess? 5.5 FPC NA motor? Maybe..I believe one of those three criteria (displacement, the crank or NA) isn’t going to make the cut. Just my two cents.
Well thats what I was saying. Pick a side. You either think its tt or na.
I predicted na all along and even though we still don't know, that guess might actually turn into reality.
It makes sense.. why would they throw a tt fpc monster and charge 85k when there's more variants coming?
The z06 isn't the final variant. Thats why I have confidence itll be NA.

I've heard the same rumors. However, thats not "everything" I've heard. Theres also TT FPC rumors floating around out there too. Some people were thinking the TT blackwing from the previous CTS-V (which we now know the next generation of blackwing engines are supercharged and not turbo'd). Thats what really got me thinking.
Rick @ Conti teased a little that he might know something about the Z06 but he would not say. The only clue he gave was something along the lines of "and you all thought it was going to be..." so this stuck in my head.

Will GM want their new flagship C8 Z06 have less HP than the new Cadillac just announced?
Hence I also believe/hope the Z will be TT and produce near enough to 700HP.

Sorry folks, the only surprises here will be horsepower and suspension. I still stand by a 5.5 fpc engine with gen 4 mag ride as standard, and the option of multimatic suspension. The C8 Z06 will be the SPECIAL car for track duty that fits INBETWEEN a 992 GT2 RS and GT3 RS when options are added for less than half the price of the GT3 RS with every option available. Its guaranteed to make Lamborghini and Ferrari look ridiculous in price. Its Porsche that is the competitor for this car ON TRACK. The new 992 GT3 comes out soon, and thats the competition.

What was a lot of HP a couple of years ago has quickly become not that much anymore.
But we’ll see.

I believe it's got to be a 750 HP TT DOHC 5.5 Liter Flat plane crank engine after reading countless speculation and here's why: Let’s think about this. If the GT2 RS is 700 HP from a TT 3.8 L 6cyl and weights 3200 lbs. What would the C8 Z06 have to have in order to compete? GM is benchmarking the C8 Z06 against the GT2 RS as seen by them testing the mules along with a GT2 RS. If the C8 Z06 weighs 3600 lbs they need at least 750 HP to even be close to competing with the GTRS. No way a 600-675 HP NA 5.5 liter car weighing 3600 lbs will do that. So in order to do that in addition to the 5.5 liter DOHC flat plane engine it needs to be Turbo Charged to the tune of 750 HP! I think the 600-675 HP NA leaks are intentionally blowing smoke so they can blow everyone away at the reveal. The C8R puts out 500 HP, the Ford GT 350 puts out 525 from a 5.2 L DOHC Flat plane crank. So a guess as to the street version of the GM 5.5 L flat plane crank is around 550-600 HP. Add twin turbo's to that and you get an additional 150-200 HP or 750 HP. The ZR1 would have the same setup except bigger turbo's, bring the HP to 850. Makes sense to me. And also this: Rick @ Conti teased a little that he might know something about the Z06 but he would not say. The only clue he gave was something along the lines of "and you all thought it was going to be..." Yea And we all thought is was going to be a 600-675 HP NA DOHC flat plane crank!!!!!!

Like someone pointed out, a lambo with "only 630hp" na ran 10.4 and it had 4xx ft lbs of torque. Just for reference of how quick it can be with similar weight as a stingray z51.
So I don't think a c8z, if na, and around 600-625hp couldnt perform just as good. The corvette isn't even a drag car.
The ct5v blackwing is a different car. Why does an m3 cost the same as a c7 z06 when they both came out? One had 440hp or so 6cyl and the Z06 has a sc v8 making 650hp
you can't compare cars like that.

2. It may be just as fast, but Lamborghini doesn't have to worry about warrantying most of their engines for 60k miles because their owners rarely drive them that much. They also charge 3 or 4 times as much for the car so they can afford to replace some of those engines. And they are not selling 10k of them a year. GM putting an NA FPC into an $85k car and selling and warrantying 10k units a year is a totally different situation.

I don't know what the hell engine it's going to be...TT, NA, LT4, LT5??? But one thing I am certain of is that it is going to have more than 650 hp. And if it was going to be NA, wouldn't they have bench marked it against a GT3 RS, rather than the GT2 RS. Just seems like EVERYTHING is going forced induction these days, so why not use one of the existing SC'd LT engines, or a TT setup that they can also use in the ZR1/Zora with bigger snails/electric motors.

You guys are comparing the wrong cars...
GT3 competition is NA C8
GT2 competition is TT C8
The big question is which model will be NA - GS or Z06?
Depending upon answer above will determine which model(s) gets the TT's.

And are you betting hp figure alone or na or tt?
Cause there is a small chance of them stuffing the LT4/5 in the c8z, then they'll get their 680-700hp.
And also are we allowed to bet on this forum?

CAD was seen over 2 years ago, ZR1 may not be available until 2028 or later. The C8 may be an extended generation too. Does anyone know how long an engine is designed before it would be implemented? If they have designed a twin turbo fpc V8, why on earth would they wait 10 years before selling it. Also think IMSA rules and the street car has never had the same liters as the race car, ever. Hard to warranty a high hp na motor. Also wouldn't a hellcat redeye sedan or the new blackwing be able to blow by you on the highway with that na engine in a straight line?

Confident if the Z06 power plant ends up with FI, it’ll be TT and not supercharged.

I am offering to bet you $100 that the new Z will have more than 650 hp, because I am certain of that. I am not certain of which platform they will use to get there, so betting on that would be foolish. If you are anxious to lose more than $100, I am sure there are a lot of other guys on the Forum that will also take your money. Do we have a bet?
