Picked up a used (like new) 10 mm Glock 29 (subcompact) and found my way into Article II (Gunworld) in Lombard this afternoon to test her out. This 10 mm Glock rocks, it's a blast to shoot, super accurate and reliable, very controllable recoil, and packs A LOT of fire power in a small package (most powerful Glock made) and I can pocket carry it.

When I was done shooting my timing was great and sat around for about the first 1/2 hour of Republican Congressman Joe Walsh's talk. He is a good guy, VERY CONSERVATIVE, very ANTI President Nobama, and VERY pro 2nd amendment.

He's definitely fighting for our Gun rights in Congress and are right to carry/conceal in Illinois one of these years. Just hearing him rip on that socialist flaming left wing loser in the Whitehouse was entertaining. He certainly has my vote over his Democratic competition (Tammy Duckworth).

CHICAGO (CBS) — Mayor Rahm Emanuel might have to slow down his plan to install speed cameras in school zones.

As WBBM Newsrasdio’s Regine Schlesinger reports, 38 years ago, an opinion by the Illinois Attorney General held that children had to be visibly present before a driver could be cited for violating a school zone speed limit.

The Chicago Tribune reports that means automate cameras will not only have to catch drivers speeding, but also will have to document that children were somewhere nearby at the time of the violation.

Chicago managing deputy transportation commissioner Scott Kubly told the Tribune that the requirement poses an “unusual challenge.” The goal is to create a machine that can replicate what a police officer could do at a glance, the Tribune reports.

 

MARION - State Senator Gary Forby (D-Benton) will host a gun rights meeting at
8:00pm on September 13th at the Operators Local 318 office, 3310 Water Tower in
Marion. Also speaking at the meeting will be Todd Vandermyde, the National Rifle
Association's Illinois lobbyist in Illinois.

The goal of the meeting is to update gun owners about new efforts to pass
concealed-carry legislation in Illinois and pending lawsuits to strike down
anti-gun laws.

"I am confident that we will pass a concealed-carry bill in the Senate during
the upcoming legislative session," Forby said. "I have been working hard to
convince other members in the Senate to support a bill and I think we may
finally have the numbers."

This meeting is open to the public.

More than 40 suspected members of the Latin Kings face narcotics charges for their alleged roles in two drug trafficking organizations that supplied and distributed huge quantities of heroin, cocaine and marijuana in Chicago and the south suburbs.

Of those arrested, 26 face federal charges stemming from an investigation of narcotics and firearms trafficking, a release from the U.S. attorney’s office in Chicago said. The other 17 face related state charges in Cook and Will counties.

On Wednesday, federal agents seized an undetermined amount of cash and 13 firearms, including five long-barreled weapons in the final phase of the operation. Sixteen people were arrested, joining six already in federal custody. Four suspects remain fugitives, according to federal prosecutors.

The two-year investigation, which was aided by an undercover agent who infiltrated the Latin Kings for an extended time, previously led to the seizure of more than $50,000; four firearms, including a sawed-off shotgun; two pounds of heroin and wholesale quantities of cocaine in Chicago; and nearly two tons of marijuana seized along the Southwest border, the release said.

If you’re ever within an hour or two of Evansville, Indiana on the last Saturday of the month, I invite you to check out the Second Amendment Patriots meeting.

Like Guns Save Life, the 2nd Amendment Patriots turn out scores of high quality, very friendly people who share a passion for guns and gun ownership.

They have fewer guns actually on display at their meetings than we do. That’s in part because they mostly *wear* their guns, in the loaded condition.

The 2A Patriots has a slightly more political flavor to their meetings. Their president, the affable Jim Tomes, is quite charismatic to say the least.

Invariably there are lots of “politicians” present, but these aren’t your career politicians. These were regular members of the 2nd Amendment Patriots like Jim Tomes who decided to get more active in politics and run for office themselves. Quite a few have been successful too. They have guest speakers and a good program too.

Their meeting officially starts at 6pm, but before the start, there is a potluck dinner, so arrive early and bring a bucket of chicken or a case of soda. It’s held at the West Side Sportsman’s Club in Evansville.
