Please help our cause!

"Fight's over, we won.
But winning one battle is not winning the war.
The war goes on but now we are just a little bit stronger because we learned that we could all come together and kick some major butt.
The war is bigger than each one of us but winning it will affect the generations that come after us. We need to maintain and expand the momentum because the other folks have just backed off in order to reorganize.
Here's a couple of things to do right away because the war goes on and it is going to heat up again just like this or maybe even worse.
1. Become a supporting member of Illinois Carry. I am not a member of Staff or the Admin, I am not even a moderator. As a matter of fact, I get a lot of back channel messages that start out, "now, Bud you can't say that" and sometimes I even get forced time outs. But I contribute every year and that's because I really want concealed carry to pass, I want the FOID gone as well as the really stupid waiting periods. Illinois Carry and what it represents is how that is going to get done. Today and the last couple of days are proof of that. Look what we just did under the Illinois Carry Banner. But, it costs money for Valinda Rowe and her husband Mike (Molly to traipse around the entire State and attend town halls, makes speeches, interview for radio and TV and newspapers and it costs money to run this website. It costs money to win and the other side has access to more money than we do because the Illinois taxpayers are funding them. Become an Illinois Carry Supporting member and do it as soon as possible because the time to fight is here, right now. Now is when we get to see a victory.
2. For those of you who live on the Internet and belong to other forums, actively seek out and get other Illinois residents to join us. Just ask if they are really serious about changing the firearm laws in Illinois and if they want to join the people who are getting it done. We need to expand. Molly B and Todd Vandermyde will have infinitely more power if they have 10,000 members behind them instead of the three thousand odd we have right now. There are over 1,000,000 FOID card holders in Illinois. Just think if Illinois Carry had 100,000 members. Not possible you say? There are just under 100,000 motorcycles registered in Illinois. ABATE (A Brotherhood Aimed Towards education) is the organization that defeats helmet laws all over the country and especially here in Illinois. Illinois ABATE has successfully fought off attempts to force motorcycle helmets laws by the Illinois Legislature 40 separate times Great track record, eh? But they have less than 10,000 members but when they go into the Legislature, they make their presence immediately known and they get what they want. By the way, do you know why ABATE is so successful in Illinois? because their Chief Lobbyist is Todd Vandermyde.
3. For those of you who are less inclined to spend your entire life in front of a monitor, please actively recruit for Illinois Carry where ever you are, gun shops, ranges, water coolers at work, talk to anyone who supports the 2A, lives in Illinois and wants to help us fight.
We need to grow and grow quickly. The fight is just starting., We have won in Court but now we have to win in the Legislature and the only way to do that is power and power is defined by membership.
This was a great job by everyone but it is not enough, we have to keep going."

"The votes aren't here," Kotowski told reporters from the Senate floor Thursday afternoon. "There was significant support in the chamber, but to get through it here we need more votes."
Assault weapons ban Kotowski, a Park Ridge Democrat, sponsored a proposal to bar sales of ammunition clips that carry more than 10 bullets and argued that recent mass shootings like the one in Newtown, Conn., brought new urgency to the issue.
Also stalled is a ban on all semiautomatic assault weapons, which includes some types of hand guns, rifles and shotguns.
Opponents of the gun control measures include many Republicans and lobbyists from the National Rifle Association, as well as suburban gun owners who are watching the issue. They cite constitutional protections for gun owners and say the proposed bans are too far-reaching.
The proposals also include a measure that would require everyone wanting to fire a weapon at an Illinois shooting range to have a Firearm Owner's Identification Card.
James Marzullo opposes the measure. He teaches gun safety courses at GAT Guns Inc., a gun store and shooting range in East Dundee. In an average class, Marzullo said, he spends seven hours on safety instruction and observes his students on the firing range for about 30 minutes. He said he did not think it was reasonable to expect his students to have an FOID card to complete his course.
"That's like saying to take driver's ed you have to have a driver's license," Marzullo said.
Votes on the proposals might have to wait until the spring as lawmakers' terms are set to end Jan. 9 and the Senate isn't scheduled to return to Springfield until Jan. 8.
Kotowski said he'd keep pushing, despite Thursday's delays.
"Looking forward to the opportunity to get it in front of a vote and hopefully get it across," Kotowski said.

"These bills are NOT dead. They are just being held off so the Chicago-crats can try and strong arm enough votes before next Wednesday. Got that? NEXT Wednesday is when the bills are dead, not before.
KEEP making those calls and informing fellow gun owners. They WILL attempt to bring them up again as soon as they think they can get them through, the same way they play the midnight sessions game to get their annual pay raises.
Update From Rep Chapin Rose:
The Senate appears to be a couple of votes shy of passage at this point. However, a few anti-gun legislators are due to return to Springfield before next Tuesday's scheduled adjournment of the current General Assembly so this issue is not over yet by a longshot.
From the Sun Times:
But state Sen. Dan Kotowski (D-Park Ridge), chief Senate sponsor of the ammunition bill, told the Chicago Sun-Times that Schoenberg's absence, as well as the absence of state Sen. James Meeks (D-Chicago), left him short of the support he needed to pass the ammunition bill on the Senate floor."
http://www.wbez.org/news/chicago-may...un-laws-104689
Mayor Rahm Emanuel demanded Thursday that the Illinois General Assembly put “public safety over politics”— by banning assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition clips.
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — The Illinois Senate has canceled a session scheduled for Friday and has adjourned without taking votes on same-sex marriage or an assault weapons ban.
Senate President John Cullerton told senators to be prepared to return Tuesday in case action is needed after a House session. The House is scheduled to work Sunday through Wednesday, the final day of the current General Assembly.
Expectations were high that Cullerton’s Democrats would approve a gay marriage bill. A committee passed the measure Thursday, but backers are uncertain when they’ll call it for a floor vote after the proposal hit several unexpected snags.
Another Senate committee approved curbs on assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines, but those bills haven’t yet moved to the floor for action.
Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn says the Legislature must reform the underfunded state pension systems before finishing Wednesday.
January 4, 2013 - The Week in Review – The Unabashed Arrogance of the Gun Control Movement
As most of you know, this has been a very tense week for the law-abiding Illinois firearm owner. As most of us were getting ready to ring in the New Year, Senate President John Cullerton and his band of gun controllers were secretly preparing a major offensive against your gun rights. We got wind of the pending attack on your 2nd Amendment rights early in the week and immediately called together our lobbyists and strategic planners to build a defense.
When we finally saw the public release of the Cullerton plan mid-week, we were shocked at what we saw. Based on recent events, we fully expected to see legislative proposals to ban so-called “assault weapons,” and so-called “high-capacity ammunition feeding devices.” However, those affronts to your rights paled in comparison with what Cullerton’s proposal entailed. Here is a sampling of the extremist proposals advanced by Cullerton’s gun-grab plan:
- The Illinois State Police would be given full control over the design and operation of commercial gun ranges in the state. That control would extend from the design of the bullet backstops to qualifications of range employees and even to the color of the paint on the walls of the men’s room. The State Police would determine the hours of operation, what types and calibers of firearms could be discharged at the range, and even a minimum number of square feet. Every range customer would have to undergo a background check and each customer’s visit would be logged by the range operator. Any Illinois law enforcement agency could conduct unannounced and warrantless inspections and searches of ranges at any time. Those searches and inspections would extend to range customers and their property. That means that the Chicago Police Department would have the authority to raid a range in Peoria and roust the customers of that range. The bottom line is, this range regulation proposal has the sole objective of running commercial shooting ranges out of business. We had never seen anything like this before, but the intent was clear.
- All semi-automatic firearms would be either banned outright, or be so severely taxed and restricted that ownership would be impractical. We expected to see attempts to ban or regulate AR and AK type firearms, but what we saw in Cullerton’s proposal carried that to an extreme. Cullerton’s gun ban would extend to all semiautomatic rifles, pistols and shotguns. Additionally, many pump action rifles and shotguns would be banned as well. This ban would include such classics as the 1911 and the M1 Garand. Of course, all Glocks, Sig-Sauers, and other popular pistols would be banned as well. Estimates are that about 50% of rifles and 80% of handguns lawfully-owned by Illinois citizens would be subject to ban and confiscation under the Cullerton gun ban.
- A bizarre and convoluted scheme to register all “ammunition feeding devices” capable of holding more than 10 rounds – including magazines, stripper clips, drums, etc. Since none of these devices possess serial numbers, owners of these devices would essentially register them under the “honor system.” Of course, we all know how well criminals stick to the honor system.
The two bills containing these provisions, HB0815 and HB1263, were both assigned to the Senate Public Health Committee for review. This committee is notoriously anti-gun and is stacked 6 to 4 with antigun Democrats under Cullerton’s thumb. On Wednesday night, the two bills came up for hearing before the Senate Public Health Committee. During debate of these two bills, we heard straight from the horses’ mouths what the intents and purposes of these bills were. Sitting there listening to the sponsors and their supporters was a very maddening experience.
Committee testimony given by the anti-gunners confirmed that the gun control movement holds firearm owners in deep contempt. During testimony, the gun controllers claimed that the range restriction bill would actually preserve 2nd Amendment rights while providing public safety. The gun controllers acknowledged that most semiautomatic firearms would be banned, but that people who wished to shoot semiautomatics should be reassured because they would be able to go to an approved range and legally rent semiautomatics to shoot. In other words, you should not be upset about surrendering your $5,000 target rifle because you can still go down to an approved range and get a junker out of the rental case to plink with. This was one of the most condescending lines of testimony I have ever heard levied against the right to keep and bear arms – and the anti-gunners uttered it with completely straight faces. The gun controllers really need to keep in mind that the 2nd Amendment says "keep and bear arms,” not "rent arms.”
Of course, nowhere in any of the testimony given by the bills’ supporters was there any mention of how these restrictions and bans would affect criminals. In fact, the bill proponents became extremely defensive when pro-gun witnesses mentioned anything about violent gun-toting criminals. It was clear that the proponents’ focus was solely on lawfully held firearms. In not so many words, the supporters of these bills claimed that they were good “first steps” to achieving a “civil society.” In the twisted world-view of the anti-gunners, law-abiding citizens are standing in the way of a civil society, not criminals.
As most of you may know, the two bills passed out of the Public Health Committee by 6-4 and 6-3 votes. The next step would be a vote on the floor. Late Thursday, the newspapers were reporting that the sponsors are delaying a vote on the bills because they do not have enough support for passage. Please, don’t be fooled by such claims. These bills are alive and well and can be called up for a vote at any time.
In writing this note, I thought I’d give you a taste of what the ISRA lobbyists experience every day in Springfield. We could not continue to do what we do without knowing that you, the law-abiding citizen, has our back. Your support is crucial to our success – we do all we do for you. So, with that in mind, there are a few things I’d like you to do:
1. Remember that these anti-gun bills are eligible for a full vote of the Senate at any time up through next Wednesday. Do not be lulled to sleep by media claims that the bills are dead.
2. Keep an eye on your email for any alerts the ISRA issues regarding these bills or any other anti-gun activity.
3. Please consider giving the ISRA a generous monetary donation so we may continue the fight for your rights.
Thanks for your time,
Richard A. Pearson

"House staff has called to let us know that the Governor and Chicago Mayor will attempt a gun and magazine ban when the House reconvenes for the lame duck session. They will reconvene on Sunday at 5pm."
Call your Representative's local and Springfield office. Do it today, then fill up their machines tomorrow if no one's answering their phones on Saturday, then on Sunday as they should be open.

"Things can change, they've been known to bring a Senator/Rep in just for one vote. They are scheduled to meet on the 8th, OR TO THE CALL OF THE CHAIR. If they twist arms, and the two absent reps show up, they may have the votes. It's never over until the fat lady sings and they adjourn sine die.
Here's a possible scenario, the House runs it through committee on Sunday night, pass it on Monday, sends it to the Senate. They show up on Tues. The next to last action they take is to pass this bill. Then they adjourn. See how it could happen??
Please, don't discount these people."
"IMO what we are looking at here from the opposition is a recon mission or an exploratory attack. They are sizing things up - they don't have a good picture of who will do what in the House & Senate when it comes to the carry legislation that they will be facing in a few weeks. These efforts will identify the people that they need to go to work on. If you remember for HB148, when it looked like it might pass, the Chicago dems went to work on about 8 representatives and IIRC they got 4 of them to switch their vote from supporting it."

The pending Illinois anti-gun legislation is intended to set the example for BO's further assault upon the US Constitution and its Second Amendment. Once the Second Amendment is washed away, their control will have been demonstrated. They will proceed further with their "Fundamental Transformation of the United States of America."
Every American's life will be changed. It will be brought under more governmental control. Every American will suffer the loss of freedom and individual rights.
BO and his handlers are using the current climate of fear sparked by the massacre of very young children in Connecticut just before Christmas to provide the force they need to make one of the largest incremental power grabs in America's history.
Chicago's mayor, as his philosophy operates, is not going to allow this crisis to go to waste. He and other BO allies see the relative ease with which they can effectively extinguish the Second Amendment in this climate of fear and confusion in order to implement draconian gun controls with nearly simultaneous confiscation.
America's socialists have always excelled at winning on the margin. They take control by their miracle of so-called wins in legislation and elections. Curiously they too often win by ratios of 51% to 49%.
They accomplish this maneuver because they manipulate, pervert, and change rules. They are expert at the buy-off and arm twisting of marginal legislators and voters. Thereby they win in the final -- often close vote. That is their proven method.
If this Illinois gun-grab is successful, it will be hoisted up by BO in the coming weeks. He will point to this tangible legislation produced by his home state as his model for the entire USA, all 50 states and territories.
Remember how obamacare passed the US House. Pelosi and Reid skipped reconciliation with the US Senate's version, simply accepting the Senate version, and twisted and maneuvered until they had just three votes to spare. Pelosi then succeeded. She passed obamacare.
Illinois's state legislators are at least as well skilled in manipulation of marginal legislators. These marginal, some lame duck, individuals can often be made to vote any way the leadership wants.
No American should scoff at this just being another Chicago or Illinois maneuver that will not affect him.
Every American should be cognizant of the dangers and loss of liberty threatening his life style and liberty.

Rep Acevedo has filed an amendment to SB-2899 to gut it and make it a semi-auto ban.
The range language from the Senate versions has been removed.
But it is as bad as the Senate versions with some more twisted things in it.
To keep the pressure on, please call the following Senators and politely tell the person that answers the phone that you are a law abiding firearm owner and you do not appreciate being treated like a criminal.
Call these Senators at lest once a day through next Wednesday.
1. Sen. Dan Kotowski (847) 656-5414
2. Sen. Antonio Munoz (773) 869-9050
3. Sen. Jacqueline Collins (773) 224-2830

Representative Thomas R. Morrison (R-IL 54th)

Well, we noticed.
Several days ago I called upon members of the Senate to honor their oath of office in the spirit of Heller, McDonald, Ezell, and Moore/Shepard. Today I call upon the House to reject the twisted logic of those very few who see no value in a common sense reading of orders that are now settled law. I further remind the members of the House that Matthew Wilson's challenge to Cook County's ban on various commonly owned firearms was remanded to the lower court for further proceedings on a Second Amendment claim. There is a reason that case was remanded, and that reason is the rule of law. That same rule of law must now dictate your actions over personal desire if any of our civil rights are to survive.
And to certain members of the clergy I state for all to hear that I, like many, believe the Constitution of this great land was Divinely inspired and is a gift from the God that loves us all. The choice to turn your back on that gift is yours to make, but please remove yourself from the path that leads me to Him and the gifts He bestows upon each of us."
The House is scheduled for 5:00 PM today. The Senate is not in.

Please remember to file a witness slip in OPPOSITION to House Committee Amendment 1 to HB2899 as soon as this is possible this morning. OPPOSITION to House Committee Amendment 1 to SB3489 can be filed now.

Apparently the chair of the House Judiciary Committee will not be calling the gun ban up for a vote. That would indicate that they do not have the votes. Gun owners in Illinois have been heard. Now remember, the lame duck session continues to Wednesday. After Wednesday, all bills die and will have to be reintroduced in the next session of the new legislature. We are not out of the woods yet, but it would seem that we’ve beaten back this early attack. They will attack elsewhere in the mean time. Rest is for the weak.
